I am so full of gas...I could explode!!
I had my lap band surgery in April, 2007. I have had very bad luck with fills. Everytime I get a fill I try to eat and then I eat too much and puke and have to have all the Fluid removed from my band. I have had barium swallows and my band is fine. I just finished a 3 month no fill rest time for my stomach and I am ready to be the perfect bandster. I got a fill on August 30th and everything was fine until yesterday. I have been eating about 1000 calories a day and plenty of Protein but yesterday I was only able to eat/drink 425 calories and 35 grams of protein. Today I have only gotten 357 calories and 25 grams of protein consumed. When I take a tiny sip, I have to burp, burp, burp. I took an anti-gas pill. If I drink a few sips of warm chicken broth, and take just one too many....I have bad gas pains that finally go away. I just want to know if this is normal. I am guessing that I have some inflammation around my band and alot of gas. My doctor said I would probably have some inflammation since I hadn't had a fill in 3 months....so he only gave me 1.5 cc's. I don't want to go have my band deflated again because I think I will never lose weight if I don't stick this out.....I also don't want to be malnurished. Please let me know if you have experienced this and if it gets better....

Thanks ShortGal. I appreciate your response.

Thanks for the response. I think my problem is that I wanted the band to be an easy fix....and of course it isn't.

Hello, I feel like such a failure because I haven't lost much weight at all with my lap band. I either have too much restriction and puke all the time, lose weigh, get less restriction and then gain the weight back. The only time I lose weight is when I can't eat without vomiting. My husband said it is just surgically induced bulimea. When I go back to my surgeon, they remove some of my fill and then I gain back everthing I lost. What am I going to do? I don't exercise like I should.....I just get discouraged and do nothing. Any advice?

I think I ate my scrambled eggs too fast this morning. The last bite felt like razor blades and it still feels stuck in my throat. I guess I do have some restriction.

Wow! It has taken me hours to catch up on all the posts!! I have several comments: Laura, your dress and shoes are lovely and I just know you are going to have a wonderful wedding. I am so happy for you!! Jen, I have always thought it would be fun to be a bartender. I wish you the best of luck with it. Also, great job on the exercise!! I saw my doctor yesterday and got a fill. He didn't numb me and it didn't hurt at all. He only gave me 1cc and I have a 10cc band. I felt some restriction last night at dinner but don't feel any today. I hope it kicks in soon! I have an appt to go back in 2 weeks if I need more. He stressed the importance of exercising for at least 30 minutes a day so today I finally did! I did 15 minutes on my eliptical, rested, and then did 15 more. It will take me a while, but I will eventually get in shape! I totally understand how some of us are feeling down and depressed at times and it is so great to know that I am not the only one! This is such a great place to be encouraged!!!!

Terri, you look great! Congrats!!! I haven't felt ANY restriction since the day I had surgery. I am supposed to get my first fill this Thursday. I so hope it works so I can start losing!!

I think it is unrealistic to think that you will never eat fast food again. I think the band makes it possible to eat just one taco....and not five. Don't beat yourself up.

What cute puppies!! I love the pics! I will have to see if I can post a picture of mine. They are the sweetest when they are asleep.

I haven't posted in a while, but I read this thread almost every day for encouragement. I went for my first fil yesterday and was very disappointed because my doctor was not there...he had to do an emergency surgery so I had to reschedule for next Thursday. I haven't lost any weight for a long time it seems so I am ready to have some restriction! Teach....I have to Yorkies too! Aren't they just the best dogs ever? Gina

Terry, I can so relate to being an alcohol light weight now! I had 2 beers this weekend and went right to bed. Drinking just isn't fun anymore. I guess that is a good thing though!

I threw up several times in the hospital....before my barium swallow. Fortunately the doctor said it didn't do any harm. I am also worried about gaining back the 20 pounds I lost. I can't wait until I get a fill....hopefully in a month when I see the dr again.

I can't believe this month is almost over. May is going to be an even better month since our surgeries are behind us. Kat, I am keeping you and your husband in my prayers. I am sorry that the inlaws are making this even more stressful for you. I have been feeling guilty for eating mushies, and some solids that I chew til mushie, when I am supposed to still be on full liquids, but I have been starving. I haven't had any restriction or the not hungry feeling from day 2. I see my surgeon this Thursday for my first follow-up appt. and I am afraid he will be angry with me. I just can't handle starvation mode. I am very proud of all of you who have been able to follow your post-op diets. I feel like a failure already. - Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
