  1. Personally for me telling everyone isnt even a option. ive told close friends and 2 family members but i really dont want to my weight to be the topic of conversation ALL THE TIME !! The very few people i did already are driving me crazy ! I haven't even had it yet and people are already asking " How much have you lost so far " ? and then they try to give you wrong information about the band like " You know if you eat that your just going to stretch out your stomach " ... sighs .. really ? Its totally something to really think about. Eventually you are going to lose a mess of weight and you might not want it to be the ONLY thing people associate you with . Thats just my 2 cents =)
  2. i agree with Sandworms ! It is noones business because unless the person is also overweight and already thinking about the band , they usually look at you with a smile but they are thinking " Wow they are so lazy . " . Ive learned my lesson telling anyone anything ! ! Lol Oh and when you try to say " It's just a TOOL , its really hard work " the expression on most of their faces get worse !! haha
  3. Thank you everyone for your insight . I really do appreciate the honesty . xo

  9. So I had my very first meeting with my surgeon today . It went very well and ive already started the necessary testing for surgery .He seemed all for lap-band he thought i would do very well with it . However , I noticed he seemed like he was more of a fan of the Gastric Bypass result wise. He explained to me the risk of both surgeries so I understand what it means to have the bypass. I was just wondering if anyone else battled with this ? I was 100 % all for my Lap- band but now since meeting with him im kind-of second guessing myself. I have 3 months to decide which is best for me . He said and I quote " La-band takes a long long time to see actual results and thats if you diet and exercise . The bypass you will see results right away " . Now of course im thinking " if I knew how to properly diet and exercise I wouldn't be in this predicament " . Help !
  10. Hello =) I myself have days like that but i have to remind myself why I cant lost weight on my own. I also some days think about all the foods ill miss. But you know what .. i miss my ass more!! I miss being healthy. If I continue on with the weight iam , the bad eating habbits i have , im going to miss out on my sons life and all the people who love me . I dont want to miss anymore of this one life we get anymore. I want to do things like other people . I want to put on a pair or shorts & jeans without any effort . i want to go shopping without getting depressed. i want to FIT on a ride at a amusement park . I want my legs to not rub together when i walk. I want to not worry about if im going to FIT in a both at a restaurant or not. Those are just a few of the things I keep in mind when im having days like you are having. good luck and i hope you do the best thing that is right for YOU ! =)

  19. Thats good to hear ! I just dont know if gastric bypass is really a option for me. I have a new baby at home and the recovery time is so much longer than the band !!
  20. That would be so awesome ! I just have my heart set on the band!! I see my PCP tomorrow and my surgeon next week. Hopefully ill be okay and everything moves right along =)
  21. Hey everyone . I'm sure this thread had been done before but I'm on my phone and can't find it . I've had my heart set on Lap band and today after finding out my bmi is so high , I'm thinking my insurance company is most likely going to want me to have the Gastric bypass . Now I'm terrified !! I guess it's the fear if the unknown . Can some of you please share with me your experiences good / bad with both the band & bypass ?
  22. I'm terrified !! I just looked up my bmi and 48.5 ! Does this mean that my insurance and surgeon would prefer Gastric bypass rather the band !? It said I was morbidly obese , Or will this make it easier to get approved ?
  23. Thats good news ! ive heard different things from different people . Im 100% a carnivore so when i hear i couldnt have beef i died a lil inside. lOl THank you for replying =)
  24. What the hell id let them try it out on me if it was free and while i was waiting. But as a alternative to the Lap-band itself ...I dont think so . Not for me anyway . It is quite interesting tho . Keep us updated if you do it ! =)
  25. Congrats !! im so excited for you !! i haven't been banded yet but i see my surgeon next week !! Im thinking mine will be in about 4 months as well . Im not exactly 100% sure about why insurance requires that. im guessing to see if you maintain at the weight you are at now or you are actually able to lose with a supervised diet. i think if they think you can lose on your own then you dont need the surgery ? Again this is just my GUESS !! I have no clue. lol Lotta help i am
