Hi all, Just a word to those of you who don't feel quite at your green zone yet. At my 3rd fill I had a total of 5 cc in my band and still felt hungry, and struggling not to eat, I went in for my 4th fill 2 weeks later and they only added .5cc... I thought, well, that won't make such a difference....Boy was I wrong, I went from yellow zone to RED zone and totally missed the green. I felt crummy and couldn't eat the high quality diet I was supposed to. Well I had .2cc taken out and feel GREAT. It is amazing how quickly things can change in that respect when you are close to your target zone. It is also amazing that a tiny tweak can make all the difference. Stay patient, do the right things, and have a good dialogue with your doc. I thought that I would be further along in my weight loss as well, but I'll take a small weight loss every week, any time, over the alternatives of gaining or feeling like crap from reflux or worse from an overfill! With patience there is progress...that is the lesson I am learning on my journey. Happy Day all!

    July 2011 Bandsters!

I haven't been on here forever, but I'm glad to see people are still checking in every so often. I had a bit of an overfill 2 weeks ago and that was neither comfortable or pretty. So I went back in today to have a bit of a defill. And all is right with the world again! So far average weight loss is 2.3 lbs a week and I am happy with that. I feel soooooo much better now that some of the weight has lifted! Both litterally and figuratively. Hope everyone is doing well.
  3. I lost 14 lbs on my pre op diet. Had surgery on 7/7 and have lost 10 lbs since then. My 2 week post op appt. is on thurs. so, hopefully I can start mushies then. I'm not really feeling hungry. But I'm not getting a full feeling others describe either. I just feel different some how...like i'm more in control of my appetite somehow. Don't know if this is the honeymoon phase or what...but so far, so good. I really can't wait to get the ok to swim again and move around more.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

haven't posted in awhile...but still thinking of all of you July Bandsters who are on this side of the board. Good Luck to all of you and I hope your all staying cool in this hot weather that most of the country is experiencing. We'll be seeing you all very soon on the post op side of the board!
  5. I'd tell him I would consider working with him only when he can show you he has researched WLS and EDUCATED himself on the pros and cons to each surgery...and the very important lifestyle changes that each surgery warrants. A personal trainer who would pass such judgement is not only way off base and ignorant....but is doing his clients a tremendous disservice by voicing his ridiculous and uneducated beliefs! He does not hold a medical degree and as such should never comment on such things in such an ill informed manner! He is perpetuating a negative and ignorant stereo type of WLS...which could ultimately be very detrimental to the very clients he is supposed to be helping. GAAAAA he really made me mad, when he said those things to you!

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Hi all, Banded on 7/7 too and am back to work today....96 degrees and our airconditioning isn't working... Thank god I'm only working a half day. Gas pains are still here, but gone in my shoulder...so thats great. I walked for 30 minutes yesterday in the early morning and again late evening and that helps sooo much. Someone mentioned in an earlier post that she was super conscious to walk with her diaphram lifted, with very straight posture...That is an AWESOME Suggestion...It really gets the gas moving and allows you to burp. My incisions are healing and itchy...but that is to be expected. And I'm not hungry yet...still on a completely clear diet for another 2 days, than I can move on to full liquids. All in all sounds like the 7/7 banders are all pretty similar in their progress. Keep up the good work pre opers' it can get tough...but just keep counting down the days...give your self a pat on the back for each day you get closer to the prize.

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Im finnally on the post op side. Yippee! I wasn't banded until 2:15 yesterday and came home at about 7:30 . Last night was rough, but I walked the night away. Today was much better. Some gas pain and some discomfort. But I'm keeping up on the meds. I have a neausea patch on as well as a nausea bracelet on and that has really helped. I'm sooooooo thirsty and trying to keep as much liquid down as possible. But I was able to rest fairly comfortably today. The meds make me extraordinarily sleepy. So all In all things are going well. It sounds like many of you are having some similar issues. And some of you are lucky enough to be on mushies already. That won't be till week 3 for me.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Hi all from band land1 I had my surgery yesterday at 2:15 so they kept me in post op until about 7:30 pm. I have a difficult time with anesthesia. that has really been the only issue. I feel the same as many of you have describes...Like i did 2000 sit ups and my gas pain isn't awful. I just keep wallking. Didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night. But today I was able to rest fairly cmfortably, and walk each hour. Sounds like those of you who have posted recently have done well too! For those of you that are getting close, keep up the good work on your pre-op diets. And know there are lots of us to support you as you enter the next phase. God Bless you all.

Oh, by the way, is there a way to move this thread to the post -op forum on August 1st? I just love how I'm able to focus on this one thread with all of you. It's been really great to follow each of you and get a sense that we are all in the same "Boat"! ( by the way...I have no doubt it will "hold" (Ha, Ha) ~reference to the joke a few pages ago, for those of you that might have not seen it.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Gaaa....I messed up my last reply, sorry for the wasted space. Lizzy, I think its great that you will surprise your college friends with the new you! The running joke for the last 20 years among my college girlfriends and I, is that they never know if they will recognize me when I walk through the door of our get togethers! They have seen me yo-yo from a size 6-16 for years....The next 20 years I plan on being the same size each time we see each other.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Welcome to all the new folks! Boy a lot has happened on here this past weekend. As for the question of who to tell, and when...I'm still kinda up in the air...My immediate family knows, as do my best friend. My sister, mom and dad. I know that if a few people in my life hadn't said..."I decided to get lap band surgery," when I asked them what they were doing to get such fantastic dieting results...That I wouln't even be here today. So I am soooooo greatful that those folks were honest about their journey. However, I do feel like I may be wrongfully judged should I practice full disclosure. So I think I'll just take it on a case by case basis, and when I do tell...I'll ask folks to please allow me to tell people in my own way, and to keep my personal information to themselves. However, people talk...so I'm sure it won't take a very long time for the small town gossips to go to work. Ha, Ha. I just hope I might be the catalyst for some one else to explore this option. Day 5 of pre-op and doctor said, " think you need to add a serving of lean chicken to your veggie meal" for the next week. That made me happy. So I'm not on a full shake regime. Yippee. I was surprised at my weight loss for the last 5 days. I think he was as well, given I have 8 more days of this. So tonight I get to CHEW!

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Awwww, Amy...I get it! I was in my kitchen making dinner last night for everyone but me...and then my husband said "Wow, It smells amazing!" and I went like this , 2 minutes later he says, "Oh, By the way we have to go on a dinner with family members on July 2nd,....then I went like this (as I don't want to tell them, and I know they will ask why i'm not eating and drinking), Then my oldest daughter said at dinner..."does this lap band thing mean you'll stop cooking all this awesome food for us, We looooveeee your cooking, then I just started Bawling...(No emoticon for that) all while I was drinking my wonderful, and oh so delicious protein shake(NOT), and they were eating chicken picata! Baaaaa Humbug....But...I'm keeping my eye on the prize here! I am realizing that this is going to effect everyone in my family, probably the way I cook in the future, the way we socialize, even the way the kids see my new lifestyle and the changes that come along with it. They are all teens so they get why i'm doing this, but they realize that this summer may be strange and full of changes for all of us.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Wow Shauna your doing a great job with this thread! I love the dates list. I Started my pre-op diet yesterday 700-1000 cal a day, 3 shakes and 1 cup veggies, min. 60g protein. I am o.k with it so far, just a mild nuisance headache. No caffiene is the worst part for me I looooove coffee. However I figure this can't be any worse than some of the absolutely crazy diets I have tried over the years, cleanses, fasts, juicing, and all the others...any thing is doable for (12) more days in my case. So good luck to all of you...I am also feeling a mix of crazy emotions. So nervous about anesthesia/ and complications, nervous about screwing up and not chewing enough...( I usually inhale food, I eat soooo quickly) and just how it will affect our whole family lifestyle. I don't want my family to feel like there is a great "Food Divide" between us. It is certainly going to be a summer of learning lessons.

    Overcoming temptations

I knew i would probably have a difficult time with my pre- op diet if I had to be the one responsible for all the family cooking.(I'm the taste tester as well). So I had my two teenage daughters do a month worth of meals at Dream Dinners. Now we have approximately 24 dinners for our family of 5 that I don't have to worry about while I'm in the hardest part of the pre and post op diets. And my girls made a girls day of it and had a great time. We put them in the freezer, take one out each morning and then each of the kids is responsible for the side dishes that accompany our premade meal on a schedule. I don't plan on stepping foot in the kitchen for any extended period of time for a 3 week period! Haha.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

I was just approved for July 7th surgery. I have been lurking the boards for about a month now but never wanted to post until I was sure I was approved. I start pre-op diet on the 23rd, so I have been easing into it by trying a variety of protein shakes. Think I have found a few favorites, although I like savory foods more than sweets, and all these shakes are sweet...so I think I'll have to be creative with the broths and add unflavored whey protein. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am also a lower BMI of 36 but have co-morb. of High BP and sleep apnea. I'm in my early 40's like some of you as well, and the yo- yo dieting just had to stop. So thats my story...Hope all of us have the very best of outcomes with the band. Looking forward to having a "band" of buddies going forward with our journeys. I think the support of others going through the same things makes all the difference in the world.
  20. I have met with Dr Ehrlich, and was wondering what experiences anyone has with him. My GP also reccommends a second opinion from Dr. Tishler whom I have not met but has been reccommended by friends. I am most impressed by the aftercare program at Dr. Ehrlichs practice. Any Thoughts CT bandsters?
