    THREE MONTHS OUT

I jumped the gun. I said I can tolerate anything. That is before I tried my first bananna since surgery. Looks like my favorite fruit is out. Not a pleasant experience.
  2. Three months out and 52 pounds lighter. The best thing is I can eat whatever I want, just not as much of it. I can tolerate anything. I'm in the Green Zone now and diggin' it. Still with the program, good choices, no carbontated drinks, no sugar drinks no fast food etc..... Little bites, put the fork down and I'm peachy. If I wolf it down I get spanked. Not fun having that Buick parked on my chest. I'm washing my clothes in hot water now trying to shrink them. That was unheard of this time last year. I have 148 more to go with a goal of 200 lbs by Spring 2013. Good luck everybody and happy banding!

    First fill questions

I went for my first fill yesterday. Everything went fine until she started putting the needle in. She bent three needles and never got in. I have to go next week and do it under a fluoro whatever that is.
  4. Same here. I was on liquids for 18 days. Twelve days in those hot dogs looked pretty good and I could not look another container of yogurt in the face; I ate one of them. Also didn't strain out all the goodies from my chicken noodle soup a couple of times. My doc was extremely pleased with my pre op weight loss (22 pounds) and the size of my liver. I was worried about that. She told me if it was too big she would wake me up and we would have to start back on square one, she would not put my life at risk and continue with the surgery. The first thing I did when I came to after surgery was look at my belly (after the dry heaves). What a relief. I'm on mushy's now and loving it. Tahi spicy tuna from Bumble Bee is out of this world. Got a good idea off the Food Network about butter beans, ham and onions all whipped up with my immersion blender (my new best friend). I do not miss cheeseburgers and pizza. There is a whole new world of flavors out there I am discovering. Plus I'm saving a fortune on groceries. Shoot-fire, I may just stay on mushies for awhile. I do need to watch my portion control. I overate last night. Was not a good feeling. Another lesson learned the hard way. Most of us have strayed a little far from the wagon, but we got back on when it left the station. Don't sweat it and keep on truckin'.
  5. My Breakfast got stuck yesterday but finally went down. Should have learned my lesson then, chew your #$%# food! Take smaller #$%# bites! Started bfast this morning, got in a hurry didn't want it to get cold. Tried to hold it down, no good. I see why it is called "sliming" now. Just hope my band didn't slip. I had a bad experience waking up after surgery. Wasn't pretty. Lesson here boys and girls do what YOUR surgeon tells YOU to do, not what someones else's surgeon told someone else to do.
  6. Get rid of gas! Nonsense. Nothing feels better that breaking out the ole butt trumpet and ripping out a new tune. Good for the soul.

    Mushies

Saute some chopped ham with some onions, add some butter Beans. Let them come together and break out my new best friend my immersion blender and whip it into a paste. A dash of salt and pepper and some hot sauce. Son! Out of this freaking world good!
  8. This is day one. I was in and out of the hospital in seven hours. I was expecting to stay overnight. I'm still on a liquid diet for another week. Really don't feel like eating anyhoo. My last meal was May12th. My lovely bride treated me to Olive Garden. It was fantastic. It's been yoguart, cottage cheese and sugar free jello since then. I haven't weighed myself since last Saturday, it was 387, down 22 pounds. Nothing but water all day before surgery and when I got back from the hospital. I have to be close to 30 pounds gone. My upper inscion is the most painfull. The others do not give me any problems. The Lortab helps, tastes like butt though. Painkiller kicking in now. Nap time.

    Jinxing Myself????

My surgery is Tuesday. I am having a talk with my two young boys. The oldest is going to be the man of the house, much to the shagrin of his little brother if something goes very wrong. Mainly it's for me not them. Writing your letters is good therapy. Go for it!

    What to Tell'em

Tell them it is an ulcer.
  11. I'm on my seventh day of the liqud diet. My surgery is set for May 31. I have lost 14 pound so far. I don't know if I can keep this up. It is seriously beating me down. I can't stop thinking about, that's making it worse. To make things worse, I have to cook for two children. Any ideas on keeping me on the wagon?
  12. My surgery is the 31st. I have to chug the mag. citrate monday night. Can anyone fill me in on what I can expect? Is there a specific flavor that would make it more enjoyable? Will the pipes be cleaned out by op time? Could get messy in there.

    Liquid diet wearing me down

I'm on Protein drinks, broth, yogurt and cottage cheese. I can have all the s/f Jello i want. I'm on day 12 of 18 and have lost 20 lbs as of this morning.
  14. I'm in Al but my BC/BS is out of NJ. I did the 6 month diet thing, then saw a nutritionist, then a psychogist who said I had issues and needed to spend more money on him. When I said no the letter he sent to the insurance company made them deny me. I then went to a psychatrist who said there was nothing wrong with me. She sent a new letter and a month later I'm scheduling my surgery day. I have been chasing this for about three years. I wanted to be absolutley sure I wanted this. May 31 is comining!

    Weight loss during pre-op diet

I'm on the liquid diet for 14 days. I am actually going 18 days. I had my mind set to start on a certain day before I got my surgery day, and my surgery day was 18 days from the day I wanted to start. I should have known better. But I'm in it now and there is no turning back. This is day 8 and I'm feeling better with the 14 pounds I've lost already. I'm shooting for 25. I'm not gellin' on the 2 weeks after surgery. A brother wants something solid.

    Liquid diet wearing me down

I cannot have any solids. Except cottage cheese, if you call that a solid. What I would do for a raw veggie right now. Yogurt and chicken broth is getting old.
