  1. Hi- I know this is an old post- but I am hoping that you see my reply as I am looking for someone else local who used Dr. Smith. Dr. Smith will be doing my LapBand- hopefully in early July of this year. Do you live in Albany? I am in Lee County. I am assuming you had your surgery at Phoebe. I am having mine there. Did you have a good experience? I hope so. I am a little worried about the general anesthesia. How are you doing now? How much have you lost? I - like you- want to lose weight so that I dont start havng obesity related health problems. I also want to live to enjoy my grandchildren ( that I dont have yet ). LOL Hope to hear from you. -Shelly
  2. Amber- I am also having a second surgery with my lapband. BUT- I could not fool the insurance company- you still have to pay everything you would have had to pay if you weren't already having a medically neccessary procedure at the same time. In other words-- I am having some neccessary female surgery- so I "thought" that my insurance would pay for a lot of my lapband stuff- but no. Also- just a warning (something you should look into) - I can tell you that my surgeon would not do LapBand with hernia repair-- because the hernia repair is a major surgery. But check with yours and see. Hope this helps.
  3. I know someone who had their surgery in Mexico. She said it was a GREAT experience as well as a nice little vacation. She said she had a nurse come to hotel (on the beach) to check on her daily. She had NO complaints and is doing great.
  4. I am in the early/midway stages of planning my banding. Hopefully will have surgery in July. Does anyone worry/have fear about anesthesia, surgery itself, complications realated to age, weight, etc? I am anxious to do this- but must admit- I am a little nervous.
