Judy - Ya'll have a fun and safe trip!! We'll miss you!!!!!!!! Denise....are you n-n-n-nnnnekkid in that pic??? Love the hair!! And your daughters are stunning! Ah, to be young again!! When I cut my hair from waist length to short, in one whack like that, I NEVER went back to long hair again. It's been this length I have now for 30 years! LOL How's she like it? Kat - Glad you are safe and sound back home again. How's dad today? Hi Tracy - Hope you enjoy this weather no matter what you do! Makes me want to plant some flowers! Nah...I think I'll bead instead. LOL I'm making a necklace where I have to cut shape and hammer each link....fun, but time consuming! TracyinKS -- Where the heck are you, girl?? You ok? Jennifur - How are YOU today? What's the weather like in Troy? I'll bet you snowbirds are looking forward to Spring right about now! Our spring starts in about a month....we'll be laying by the pool!.....well, the skinny ones will, anyway!

Ok, while ya'll go to Graceland, I'll go get a facial and massage. I wouldn't spend $10 to see it, much less $68!!! I'm a Beatles girl to the core.

NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
Laura, nobody is going to feel obligated to the point that they're going to plunk down money against their will! LOL This is where the majority decided they wanted to go. Now it is up to the others to either join or not. Simple. Otherwise we'll go round and round and round until we end up not going anywhere! Besides, we all said from the beginning that we didn't care where as long as we get together. That still holds true for most of us....if others decide that's maybe not so true anymore, then that is OK too! There's about 100 factors at play in this decision, not to mention 1,000 different destinations we chould have chosen....so the way I see it, it's 6 of one and half dozen of the other! Tunica is great! We'll have a wonderful time there!! The weather should be nice too.... maybe we'll even be ready for some swimsuit action! Well, Judy already is!!

NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
Wow...a person is gone for 24 hours and they're likely to miss something! I'm just excited to be with you guys...I really don't care where. Judy, I'm sorry you didn't get your first choice....but I do believe you'll have a great time, don't you? I am REALLY sorry that you won't make it Jen  that is sooooo disappointing. Michelle - I can't thank you enough for all you've done thru this process. I know it's enough to pull your hair out...but don't! Have several tequila shots and you'll be good to go again! It's just NEVER easy in any way to try to plan a trip like this. Someone always gets hurt or left out and tempers flare ...it's just the nature of the game. In a day or two we'll all be over that and the excitement will settle in again. You did a great job. We all appreciate it!!! Laura - thank YOU for arranging all these cool accommodations! This will be a blast having the option of a suite to hang out it. We've done that for 2 weddings and it works out great!! For the record, I don't have any issues with sharing my room with anyone...except that I am known to snore! So prolly best if I sleep in my own...but I'd be more than happy to share a suite!! How fun! Tunica....HERE WE COME!!!

Kat - What a day you had!!! UGH! I hate hate hate hospitals! You've had more than your share of 'em the last few years so you must feel right at home! You must be exhausted. Hope you're getting some rest now. When will he be discharged? Oh, my sympathies to you about his speech/talking!! My mom had similar issues once ... you learn to kind of tune them out, then they get mad 'cause you don't answer them!! You never know when they're saying something 'important' so you have to try to listen to everything, but that gets exhausting 'cause 90% of it is gibberish. My mom's doctor (who was a total QUACK) even said, "Why is she slurring so much? I can't understand her...It's driving me crazy!" This was her cardiologist (!!) who apparently is not familiar with the symptoms of a stroke! Anyway, glad that you're still in one piece. You're the best daughter a parent could ask for!

Day's shot. Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow. Nighters everyone.

No, smyly...I've never had that problem. Maybe dig out your GasX strips from post op phase and finish those off! Congrats Laura and Pam!!! BIG BIG milestone!! Woooo hoooo!! I'm making Chicken Gumbo tonight...it's yummy! I buy the bottled roux and that makes the whole process virtually painless. I cook this 'by ear' so pardon the non-specific nature of this recipe: Heat up about 1.5 cup of roux in a heavy 5 qt pot. Add: 1 chopped onion 6 cloves garlic, chopped fine 4-5 stalks of celery, sliced 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped fine Add chicken pieces (1 whole chicken or equiv.) then cover with boiling water Add a bunch of Tony Cacheres cajun seasoning (1+ tbsp) Bring to a boil, then simmer for 2 hours or so skim foam as it appears Debone chicken (if it has bones), and cut into bitesize pieces Add chicken back to pot Let the gumbo "rest" for at least an hour Serve over cooked basmati rice Sprinkle each bowl with gumbo file' (you can add or substitute shrimp, crab, oysters and/or sausage)

You had an AWESOME DAY, Judy!!! You are my hero!! I'm so proud of you I could just dance naked like all those bananas. The thought of eating a chicken taco makes my throat close up and my eyes water!! The only thing I can safely eat at a Mexican restaurant is cheese enchiladas. See what I mean?? Crap! Tracy, I am seriously thinking about getting an unfill. I hate to do it, but it's getting quite ridiculous that I can't eat meat. Before I do that though, I'm going to try drinking hot tea before meals to loosen up the band. It's usually dinner that I have so many problems....which probably has to do with stress, feeding and cooking for mom after rushing home in traffic...that sort of thing. I guess I'm eating crap because of that stress too. I went to the store last night and (among other things) bought all the stuff to make bread pudding. Why the hell did I do that??? that is the burning question: WHY? I want my life back. I'm just so glad I can come here even though I'm not 'giving' very much lately....and only 'taking' from all of you. But I sure do need to be here, that's for sure. I do apologize for whining so much. Today is a beading day!!! Yipee!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Shannon!! yeah, I get my stuff at Target, too. The soreness is hell, isn't it?? Hang in there, it does get better! A hot bath is essential!! Kat - I'll be thinking of you today. Please be careful...I know you will. Of course we'll be praying for your dad! Keep us posted as you can! Cindy - LOL about the anniversary gift!! It's worth some serious consideration! He'd adore you for it! Mine would just die of a heart attack at the mere thought of it, so it's probably not a good idea for us. Pamela - Sorry for your woes today. Congrats to all of you who have continued to exercise or found their way back to it!! I'm getting there....but not there yet. I have decided to no longer cook these big dinners just because mom is there. Nobody in that house, including her, needs all that food. Just a protein and a veggie from now on!!! I've gotta get back on the horse.

Haydee -- That IS interesting about your (ahem) discussion with dbf!! Kat is a very wise woman...I'll say it AGAIN! I think the more we treat them like children, the more stubborn they become. A little humility -- and lowering of the constant expectations -- goes a long way toward harmonious living. Lexapro helps, too.

I just wanna say thanks to you girls. I think I am 85% back on track and it's because if the inspiration that YOU ALL provide. I just want to see a new #%*&! number....is that so much to ask? It's not going to happen just because I WILL it to happen! So far I've had a very good food day...and i am proud of myself!
