  1. ME TOO!!!! :-) Did they tell you the hospital or surg center?! Last I heard it was the hospital. I wish I knew what time....it'd be cool if we could wave to each other!!
  2. Jane -- Maybe you should shop around for a doctor that will reduce his fee for the lapband .... i mean if he's getting paid by insurance for the hernia repair, he should be willing to reduce his fee dramatically for the band!? I've heard several times on this board of people going in for a band and the doc found a hernia and repaired it "while he was in there"....for no additional fee, I'm sure. So maybe shop around a bit?! My doc is charging $12,900 now, but he used to charge $15,000....so that is in the right ballpark. Are you freaking out about the band itself, or just the money you have to shell out for it? There's no hurry ....take some extra time to make up your mind if you have to! Be very comfortable with your decision. But all of us have certainly gone thru times when we were freaking out....and then came out the other side again. I think we're all pretty darn excited. Good luck to you!
  3. Obviously there is FISH OIL in your vitamins!! (for the Omega 3's).... generally fish oil is tres nasty. I got some liquid vitamins at Sam's...quite good. If you want to take fish oil (which is very good for you) order Coromega online. No fishy aftertaste! Tastes like orange sherbert. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Honest Injun.
  4. No back fat??? I can't even IMAGINE what that must be like. Of all the things I hate about being this way is the millions of rolls i have on my back. YUCK!!!!!
  5. Uh, I might be wrong, but I was under the distinct impression that it is unwise to put anything in your ear canal that is not sterile.
  6. OH GOODY!!! :welldoneclap: Something to look forward to!
  7. Poor dear!!! I hope your doctor is assuming responsibility in this!
  8. ....and I suppose you got some great pictures, too! :welldoneclap:
  9. THAT IS FREAKIN' HILARIOUS!!!!!!
  10. Oh now, Tracy! That's cool! .....so are YOU gonna keep up with all those stats??? :welldoneclap: Eww....pre-op diet??! Better you than me! (Thank you, Dr Spivak!!) Schexy! Congrats, girlfriend! Isn't this exciting? Bwaydiva - yes, we definitely need a fitness challenge....but April might be a weird time to start since we're all having surgery!? Does a walk around the block count?? :nervous Lunasa -- Welcome!! I'd be interested in hearing more about NLP! Never quite understood what it was. Any good links or books? Heather -- You must be SOOOO disappointed!! I'm sorry about your grandfather...what a tough row. I hate to ask, but how much money did you lose??? ouch!!
  11. Notice that was losingjusme's last post??? Wonder what jail she's in?? Maybe we could get some $$$ together to bail her out.
  12. We ALL have a "waterfall".....don't we??
  13. Thanks for checking in! And of course we were all there with you!! The spirit of LBT, dontcha know. Are you sure those nurses didn't punch you? Sounds like you were pretty darn rowdy!
  14. I have to say that I find it so very interesting that all these docs are saying "low carb this" and "low carb that" and "limit your daily carbs to 30 or less"..... Dr. Atkins must be havin' a field day (wherever he is)!! All those years they poo-poo'd his work (and others) and now they finally get it. Never thought I'd live to see the day.
  15. Egg yolks?? Are you sure? The yolks are virtually all fat. The protein is in the white part of the egg. I was excited to see that someone is now making apple juice 'lighter' by adding Splenda instead of sugar. So now this is how I make my smoothies: A handful of blueberries or 5-6 strawberries (whatever is on hand) 1/2 banana 6 TBSP plain yogurt 1/4 c "light" apple juice 1 scoop vanilla whey protein Splenda to taste ice cubes (all measurements are approximate -- I eyeball it) I figger that's less than 200 calories and has about 18g of protein. Not bad at all! A great breakfast or mid-afternoon pick-me up!
  16. BUT not very easy to pronounce!!! This is fun ...I hope people keep posting.
  17. I recently bought a big ol' thing of "Benefiber" at Sam's and I add it to just about everything....you seriously can't detect it in your food....or even in drinks! AND it really "does the trick" so to speak.
  18. It seems to me that I see a LOT of people, not just here, but on previous low-carb weight loss forums, that run into a major, major stall at about 6 months. I know I did when I was lc-ing, and it looks like it's an issue with the lap band too! Hmmmmmmm. Any theories out there?
  19. Hi Angie!! I'm sooooooooo jealous that you live in Colorado Springs. It's one of my favorite places on the planet. I wish I could live there .... Specifically, I'd like to live at the Broadmoor!! Manitou Spgs. reminds me so much of my beloved Austin....so cool. Welcome to what's quickly becoming a crazy, crazy thread! Full o' kooks who are spaced out a bit due to lack of nourishment!
  20. I wonder why Alcoholics Anonymous doesn't use that method of curing addiction?? Abstain from alcohol all day....but then it's OK to drink at night!! Oh, that's right. It doesn't work THAT'S WHY!!!
  21. Grab a seat, stay awhile and read read read!!! There's lots to learn and lots of friendships to be made! We're glad you're here! :welcomeB:
  22. Thanks, Panda! Those look like some very reasonable guidelines for eating with the band. I think I can do that!! :bolt:

  25. There are so many interesting ones.... how did you come up with your user name? What does it mean to you? Mine is a nickname my mom used to call me when I was a little girl. Then my girlfriends called me that in college and now my (step)grandchildren call me that because I REFUSE to be called "Grandma"!!! Maybe when I have my own grandchildren I'll have them call me Granny-Doodle! I like that. :biggrin1:
