  1. Amanda -- so nice to call you by your real name!! Such a pretty one, too! This is just craziness! You have to come all the way back here to the states to stand trial for a disorderly conduct charge?? That seems ridiculous to me! Your attorney can't do anything to get it dropped? Are you sure you have a good one? And so what happens if you just don't show up...you can't ever come back to the States? Oh, I guess you were 'released' pending your trial, eh? What a major hassle. I feel quite sure Tracy is right....they'll just slap you on the wrist....we've got far worse criminals that are taking up the bed space. It might be different if you had a criminal history, but if this is your first offense, I doubt anything serious will come of it. Try not to worry too much. Sorry you have to go thru all that. Pamela - We're here for you all the way, girlfriend. We'll miss you on the board if you don't post at least 2x a day...so make sure we get some of your time, ok?? Don't you think that your kids will get easier as the year goes on....or does it not work that way? Are they difficult because of their attitude/behavior or because they're just not very bright? When is Susanne retiring and moving in? That should help in many ways, don't you think? Haydee - I got your Special K and Hi-Protein milk and had that for dinner tonight! I was so tired and hungry I didn't have the energy for anything else. But anyway, it's good! Thanks for the recommendation. Did you enjoy your beading class? Kat - Wanna put our birthdays on the Violets list too?? Mine is June 13 (Gemini!). When is everybody else's birthday?? That Rhett guy sounds like a crazy person!!! :wacko:He'd freak me out. I can't imagine living with him! Your DD is happy? TracyinKS - Is the 'woof' and 'hoof' thing supposed to be your code words for 'wife' and 'husband'? I'm missing something, or I'm just plain stupid. OK, so how did everyone do in September? I think I lost maybe one pound. I know there are a few of us that are stalled out....which is not unusual for the 6 month mark. Don't know why, but it seems to happen that way.
  2. Michelle, I'd just about KILL for a 4# drop!! You ROCK!!
  3. Hey, I want you all to know that in the conference room right next to my desk there are FIVE LARGE pizzas... steaming hot and oozing with cheese and sausage. I am eating salad and tuna!! Why, you ask? Because--- I WANT IT BAD!!!
  4. Oh Yeah!! Wooo Hoooo!!!!! TracyK....I am so dang proud of you!!! CONGRATULATIONS on entering Onederland!!! Never to see the 200's again!! Ever!! I've done that, too! My hubby is Richard. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TRACY!!! Wish I was there to take you out for a drinky-poo!! :nervous
  5. Hi Everyone! I've been working on my SPCA Mutt Strut (fundraiser) page! Check it out: Houston SPCA: If you have extra money laying around and would like to sponsor me in the 5K, I'd be very happy!! I miss my doggie so much! I'm going to start volunteering at a shelter close to my office too. I can drop by anytime to take dogs for a walk just so they can get out of their cages for a little while! Isn't that cool? No need to make an appt, or get on a schedule...just drop by! I'll like that. I'm going to go on Friday for sure. I want to get involved with a shelter or rescue club some kind of way... even though I know it's going to be hard. I can't let that stop me, right? Maybe I'll foster a doggie. If a dog gets sick and it doesn't have a foster mom they have to put it to sleep So they *really* need foster parents! I'm headed for trouble, I can see it now. I have a splitting headache, so I'm going to go to bed. I did buy a few clothes after work....it's much more fun now! I'm in size 16 pants and XL top. Still way too much fat for my taste! Love u guys, T. PS - TracyK ...I LOL'd big time at your 'handful of laxatives' joke!! I'd have probably done it!
  6. My first concert was at the age of 14 too (Neil Young!) ....I can't imagine, in my wildest dreams, sending my 14 year old to a concert these days! I can hardly bear to send my 17 year old!
  7. Tracy - let me know how those muffins turn out! Flax seed is sooooooooo good for you!!
  8. Haydee, my doc says a minimum of 3 weeks between fills. That sounds like a great breakfast!....and you get the calcium and good fiber, too. That's always good! Good choice!
  9. That would have been HILARIOUS...I woulda LOL'd for sure. I look horrible when I come out of the gym!! No wonder nobody will look me in the eye!
  10. G'Morning Vi's (as Michelle says) -- I am really sore from my UB workout Monday night but that serves me right. Thankfully it's not as bad as when I started from scratch and I didn't have a trainer working with me so I took it kinda easy. Going again tonight to do the LB and i always overdo it. Grrr. I wish I had not let my routine get so stale. It was so nice to be able to work out hard and not be sore. PAMELA - were you sore after your Jazzercize workouts?? Today I am pushing water like there's no tomorrow. My scale is so stuck at 185-186. When I quit smoking on Aug. 19 I weighed 188. To tell you the truth I've been entertaining the thought of smoking until I get closer to goal. How sick is that? I'm want 'it' just that bad. Stupid, I know. Beyond stupid. Jenn - You are so sensitive to others' opinions! I have a sneaky feeling that you perceive these things in a skewed way...like you think their opinion of you is much lower than it really is and you give those perceived opinions way, way too much importance. Your self-esteem is so wrapped up in these perceptions that you can't even see your own self-value. You are a kind, loving, supportive friend, a hard worker, a good mother, you don't set fire to small animals....what more could the world ask of you? You're everything a good person should be and I am a better person for knowing you and having you in my life!! ((((Big Hug))))
  11. Pam - I used to do Jazzercize in like 1985! LOL Actually, other than the gym I'm doing now, and yoga, it is the only exercise routine I stuck with for any length of time. I loved it but I don't think I could do it now. Well, I'm quite sure their philosophy has changed but back then it was all about "aerobics" and I know my heart rate was thru the roof 80% of the time! Same with the classes offered at my gym now...I know going that hard is not good for me so I don't do too good in classes. I did love it though...it was a blast!
  12. Judy, you and I are just totally out of it. I don't need another excuse to tie me to the computer even more! I'm not even going to LOOK. Pamela - I finally fixed your bracelet and will get it in the mail tomorrow. So sorry it took so long! No excuses, just never got to my 'studio'! I wish I had all day every day to bead...i would be in heaven...and I might actually get good at it! ha! Ms. Jen - Welcome to the world of slime!! Yep, you gotta start over! You've heard us talk about high risk foods enough to know what they are so just tread carefully! Laura - I don't get the thing with meat either. And scrambled eggs make me stick worse than anything else!!!? What is up with that? Eggs....and fried chicken (or fried anything). I used to love to cook 2 scrambled eggs for dinner before a workout...it was easy, fast, and satisfying. I may have to try them again....someday! How did your sausage go down tonight? My favorite is Czech garlic sausage (Kat you get that when your in Tx, don't u?) and hot Italian sausage. Italian sausage can be made with turkey and it's delish! Kat - I'll be praying that all is OK with your tests. You have simply been thru too much in your short life to have anything else come your way anytime soon.....(((big hug))) TracyinKS - You are rockin' and rollin' girl!! Any ripples in the office since word got out about your band?? Why can't men find anything?? I sent Richard to the pantry to find some biscotti he wants with his tea and he is standing in the pantry door just staring. It's right in front of him but I refuse to rescue him!! LOL Men and kids...blind as bats. I always rant that I'm the only one with working eyeballs. I'm off to bed. Is tomorrow only Wednesday?? ugh.
  13. Well. Hmmmm. Since you've been PBing quite a bit, have you tried giving in a rest for 24-48 hours? LIquids and very soft mushies only??
  14. Hey!! All the ads are gone from the left margin!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!
  15. Laura - I had a Panera Asian Chicken Salad today for lunch. The chicken breast is moist but is sliced paper thin. It was touch and go until I figured out that I had to cut the chicken into bites about as big as a peanut. I assure you I am not exaggerating!! So I killed time that way while I was chewing...cutting the chicken up into itsy bitsy bites. It also took me 45 minutes to eat this salad! It IS possible to eat meat, it just HAS to be cut very fine.
  16. Kat - I am soooo sorry about your accident! I hate hunting on so many levels, and this is just another added to the list. I hope you're all better now. Kat & TracyinKS - I know that ya'll are all over this board like I am, have ya'll noticed that losingjusme has 'disappeared'?? I"m going to poke a little deeper and see if she's at least logged in. I've sent her 2 PMs and she hasn't responded. I HATE that about message boards....it makes me worry so. I'm bouncing between 185-186. Choices are simple. Eat less, exercise more and LOSE....or get sloppy with the calories, don't exercise and bounce around with the same numbers. :tired Hmmm. It's not rocket science! I essentially have not lost crap since I quit smoking and I'm eating too much trying to pacify my cravings. I'm going to try to substitute exercise to feed those addictions, but it's easier said than done. So frustrating. Pamela - What are you talking about? Did you go out and get another job???? Michelle - are you tracking your food on fitday or dailyplate? fitday is good 'cause it gives you a nutrition breakdown for the whole day (dailyplate you have to pay extra for that i think). Eating 'too much' or 'too little' is such a relative thing and is best measured by tracking your calories and then comparing that to how you are losing. If I don't track I tend to eat too much. If I track and keep my calories below 1200, I'll lose. Guess whether or not I'm tracking now!? LOL When I did track religiously I found that I almost always got 60-70 grams of protein without even trying so I don't worry about my proteiin intake too much. 30 years of eating a high protein diet to control my blood sugar has trained me well enough! I'm always preaching "PROTEIN!" to my kids...they are sick of the question, "What kind of protein did you have for lunch today?" I've taught them all I know about nutrition since they were 6 years old. They may or may not make the best choices (neither do I!) but I feel better knowing that the knowledge is in their mushy little brains and when they're old enough to really care about what they're putting in their bodies...they'll be educated.
  17. I have no idea what any of this means. :tired Man, I'm OLD.
  18. When nothing goes down without a fight...except maybe Water....then you're too tight. If it takes me 45+ minutes to eat 1/2 of cottage cheese, I'm too tight. If eating tiny bites of tender fish gets stuck...I'm too tight. If I find myself avoiding solid foods and eating Soups and shakes, then I'm too tight. If I find myself wondering "What in the world am I going to eat for lunch??" ...then I'm too tight. In other words, I should be able to eat just about anything (except bread, rice, fried stuff) as long as I have small bites and chew well. But if I'm getting stuck even when I'm following those rules, then I'm too tight and there's no way I'll get adequate nutrition if I keep that up.
  19. Before you do that, are tracking calories? Are you following all the bandster rules? Are you exercising? If the answer to all of these is YES and you are still not losing weight, then you might consider a very small fill....and I do mean small! Being too tight is pretty miserable.
  20. Hi Girls! We ALL had these same fears....and 100 other ones to go along with 'em! Yet here we are....most of us quite successful and very happy with our bands, our new bodies and our future!! Breathe, relax, get educated and be VERY grateful that you have this opportunity. The lap band is a wonderful tool and in 6 months you're going to be saying the same thing to newbies on this board!
  21. <<<<-------- STUCK on canadian bacon which is just like deli ham, right?? So why oh WHY do I eat it???????? (easy protein, that's why) I feel like carrying a cup around with me like somebody who chews tobacco does. YUCK!!!!....but handy!
  22. No, Tracy I don't dream about my band, but I DO dream about beading and come up with ideas in my dreams!! Cool huh? But earlier I was dreaming that I was working for my old boss (yuck). He was throwing a party to celebrate his new house (I always dream about houses!). The invitations were going out to select few but very important people....and included the recipe and ingredients for some cajun thing. The ingredients included sliced strawberries (!) and I had to figure out a way to slice and package the strawberries, along with the other ingredients, and get them fed-ex'd to the people by tomorrow without ruining the strawberries (but HOW?)....and I only had an hour to do it. But first I had to find his house (for some reason) and I was driving around and around and couldn't find it....and meanwhile the clock was ticking and I was running out of time. I was becoming VERY anxious when I woke up. LOL My life as a secretary feels like that sometimes, but it's never that bad!!
  23. Sorry - Post #3 - still 2 away from my previous record. TracyK - I'm back into my gym routine....sorta. I haven't managed to get back on the weights, but I am doing cardio. Yesterday I burned 280 calories. Today I'll go back and try to do a full body...cardio and weights. I just miss my trainer!! When he left it just really messed me up....but maybe I'm just using that as a convenient excuse! Jenn - Your mom is a reiki practitioner?? Cool. She sounds like an 'intuitive'....is she?? Best of luck with the job interview! What does the shop produce?? TracyK - glad you are better!! Careful with the aleve! Scares me.
  24. ***For those of you with colds and allergies *** I am very lucky. I do not suffer with allergies at all but the rest of my family does! They are all going thru BAD episodes right now. KAT (and whoever else) - My DH's doctor told him that the very best way to deal with that stuffy head is to use a sinus rinse....it reduces greatly the need to keep blowing your nose AND reduces the chance of subsequent sinus infections. My DH uses what the doctor recommended and it's called NeilMed Sinus Rinse. I've used it myself and it does work VERY well. Sounds like you would really benefit. Get it at any drugstore.
  25. (((((LUNASA)))))) We missed you so much!! Boy, I can tell those anti-d's are helping you immensely!! Just re-read the tone of your post and compare it to a few months ago where you would have been crying (literally) about how you just "know" you're always going to be fat and with SUCH a feeling of hopelessness!! And NOW....you've got your head on straight!! You acknowledge in a neutral way that you're not losing as much as you could be if you were exercising. You are choosing to change that....you're no longer seeing yourself as just a victim of your DNA or self-sabotage. You simply have analyzed what needs to be done and realize the choice is yours. Plain and simple. No need to lay in bed crying about it or plead with the Universe to change it....you alone have the power....and you DO have it!! And you can choose or not choose to exercise....as long as you realize that you are also choosing the consequences. Not a big deal, right? This is the philosophy I try to use with my teenagers....I try not to lecture, scream and get all emotional when they break rules. I TRY to re-state the rules, re-state why they're in place, dole out the consequences and then give them a big hug. I try very hard not to get mad and behave as though I've withdrawn my love....because I haven't! I am just in the business of teaching them about life...that every choice has consequences. Simple. Take the emotion out of it. No need to withdraw love from yourself over it. It just is what it is. Choice & Consequence. You sound VERY happy and whole. It's not medically induced...the medicines are only balancing chemicals that should be balanced on their own. It's not like you're taking LSD or something! LOL (Can you tell I've been listening to the Beatles lately?) Anyway....just so very happy to hear from you. We are ALL....every one of us....going thru our struggles now. Yours is no better or worse than the rest of us. That's why we're here and why we realize we need each other so badly. In that process we've found absolute treasure. OXXOXO!!
