  2. Hi Deb! Thanks for your reply I am so happy that you LOVE your sleeve. Hopefully we will be able to chat and compare notes later.
  3. I was just at a support meeting for vsg and they were talking about biotin for hair loss - one woman commented that becareful - because it makes ALL hair grow - meaning facial hair also I guess - so I am torn as to whether I want to take it or not. My hair is naturally thin anyhow so I thought I might try this to keep what hair I have. Hope this info helps. Have A good day.
  4. I know after the sleeve we are not suppose to drink carbonated beverages because of gas, but I was wondering what about diet rootbeer from A & W that comes from a soda fountain - diet rootbeer doesn't have any carbonation to it, do you think us sleevers could possibly have that ??? Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  6. I will be sleeved with Dr. Kemmerling @ Aurora Baycare Center in Green Bay, WI on February 14th, 20ll - this is my valentines gift to myself. So excited I can't wait for the day to come.
  7. Thanks for the cute story Doug. I am getting sleeved on Feb. 14th - your story made me laugh - and because I have had other surgerys before it had a familiar ring to it. LOLS. Keep us posted on your progress! Diane
  8. Hello, everyone. My name is Diane, I am a relative newbie to this site, just found it the end of January and been reading your posts ever since. I guess you could consider me a senior sleever as I am 56 years old or maybe I should say 56 years young. LOLS! I was the chubbiest baby of all my siblings and remained very chubby most of my childhood. Even though I was very active in sports, and I loved swimming I was just always a very chubby child. I have lost significant amounts of weight many, many times thoughout my life but just manage to put it back on plus more to boot. But the weight has finally gotten the better of me I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis which causes my feet, knees and joints to hurt to the point where I walk like a very old person. So I decided enough is enough and I am gonna give hit the weight loss circuit one last time. Only this time I am going to make sure I can keep it off for good!! I reserched about the lapband but have decided on the gastric sleeve because I believe this is the one for me. I have completed the 6 month scheduled Dr. visits and jumped all the necessary hoops required to get this surgery done. Hooray!! My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 14th by Dr. Kemmerling, at BayCare Hospital in Green Bay , WI. My pre-op appt. was Jan. 24th, had bloodwork, chest xrays, and EKG, if everything turns out okay with that I am good to go, I am just okay at this computer stuff so I don't know how to get the ticker thingy, tried but didn't work - so I will just list my pre-op weight as 228# and I am 5' 6 1/2" tall. If anyone is a senior sleever I would be interested to hear your progress and find out if you are happy with your results. Maybe we can chat about our progress on this new journery in our lives. I will try to keep you posted as often as I can. Thanks all! Hope to be chatting with you all again soon.
  9. Ohhh Sheila: It was nice to read your post about ur surgery on Jan. 24, I am glad everything went so well for you and that you are doing so well. You see my surgery is on Feb. 14 and I am anxious and very excited and filled with anticipation for the big day. Reading your post makes me feel more secure in the choice I have made to get the sleeve. I hope you continue to update us with new progress reports as you go. Thanks for the information. Diane - newbie to this site.
  10. Well I am a newbie to this site also. But I can tell you why I chose the sleeve verses the gastric bypass. The bypass changes the way you absorb your nutrients & the sleeve doesnot. The bypass you will need to crush your pills and with the sleeve you won't have to the way I understand it. With the bypass your appetite is lessend for about a year but with the sleeve your appetite is lessened and doesn't come back after a year. I don't know if this helps you any but these are some of the reasons why I chose the sleeve vs the bypass. Also I have dieted for 8 months before I will have my surgery on Feb. 14th, it is my thinking that the more you lose before the surgery the better your outcome will be once you have surgery. Well good luck with your decision, you will find alot of information by reading these posts. Good Luck to you!
  11. February 14th with Dr. Kemmerling - I'm so excited!!

  14. I am new to this site and am anxious to get on with my sleeve surgery, But my insurance says I medically qualify but denied approval for the sleeve. I have an appeal pending but they tell me they have 60 days to answer my appeal. I Have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Has anyone else had this problem
