Dr Onopchenko
Sorry its taken me so long to reply. I did the exact same thing. I had the "last supper" problem going on. I thought I wasn't ever going to be able to eat normally once I had my surgery. I wanted to enjoy the last remaining weeks before my life with food was finally over. Wrong. If you can get over that mindset it will help you. Also I started protein shakes in the morning instead of my normal breakfast to get myself ready for the liquid phase pre-surgery. This will increase your protein intake and could take off a few pounds. Good luck hope this helps.

My. Dr. wants to scope me... is something stuck?
I had my first fill last Wednesday 1CC in a 4CC band everything was fine until Sunday. Felt tight had a little trouble with some foods but nothing major. Monday had some chicken and bam felt a little stuck. Since that day, off and on pain in my chest and back. Not always when I eat but just off and on and the feeling of an air bubble low in my throat. I called the Dr. yesterday and he had me come in and removed what little fluid was in the band (he said most of it was to prep the band) and to take some meat tenderizer that evening. I am supposed to call if I don't feel better today and he wants to scope me and fish out whatever is stuck. I still have the bubble feeling and slight discomfort but not the same pain from before. Could I just be irritated? Please respond if anyone has had a similar experience. I don't want to have the scope if I don't have to. PS. I can eat and drink normally is that possible if something is stuck?

Marchies In April
WAY TO GO TAMMY, Love the idea of getting on the scale once a week, just not a strong enough person to do it. I jump on there every morning. Congrats on your weight loss, your doing a great job. MRS. HUSKER, I am having the same issue with a dry throat. Sometimes its so dry I'll be talking and the words will just get stuck and won't come out. Never had a problem like that before and I am drinking plenty of water. Weird.

Chatgirl, I had the same thing happen. For me, it did stop when I went to full liquids. If it continues check with your Dr., when I went for my post -op visit I let them know about the problem and they told me if it came back to call the office because it could be a reaction from a the antibiotics given during the surgery which will sometimes cause a bacteria to form in the bowel. Good Luck.

Hi Tammy, I am doing much better, it took about 4 days without using any pain meds to be able to get back into the swing of things but now I am a week out and feeling pretty good. Due to the nature of my job I will not return to work for two more weeks so I have some real down time to just heal and enjoy the spring. Thanks for getting back to me and I will try to swallow my pills tonight with out crushing them. Good Luck to all our day 3/28 and 3/29 people I will be saying a prayer for you all!!! :straight

Is anyone swallowing pills whole or are you crushing and dissolving in water? I am also on Topamax for migraines. It is a very small pill but I crush it in fear it will get stuck. It's nasty tasting, I just want to down the pill.

First off, I'd like to say GOOD LUCK nurseamy, hope everything goes smoothly for you. :clap2: Ladies, I need some support. My pre-op diet is supposed to start on Wednesday. So I figured since I have been having the "last meal" syndrome for the past couple of weeks I would start early. Three times I have attempted and by the end of the night I am bingeing like I will never eat again and frankly I wasn't even starving. It was more the fact I know I won't be able to eat for quite a while and I think that's where this is coming from. I only have a pre-op for 7 days and I can't imagine you ladies that have to go for 2 weeks. Jello, clear broth and cream of wheat is just not cutting it for me and then the post-op diet....yikes, will I be able to do this????? I have to say, I am really stressing. My Dr. never said anything about protein shakes? Does that sound weird to anyone?
