I was banded on Dec 7th. and have lost 30 pounds since surgery day. I really, really REALLY want to hit 40 by Feb 7. Keeping a track of 20 pounds per month. I am busting butt excersizing. Do you think IM doing too much? I walk 3 miles on level 6-7 on the treadmill every weekday. On weekends I hit the hiking trail and increase every hike by 1 or 2 miles. I did an 8 mile hike today in 2 hours 30 min. No big deal, Im not looking for great times, just the fact that I did the darn thing. Only took in 800 calories today with 90 gms of protein, and my scale has not moved. WTHeck! I know, I know, my husband says my body is transitioning the fat to muscle... Im getting tired of hearing about that. Maybe I should layoff walking so much? Can I have some feedback? December bandsters.. where are you with weightloss and excerisize? My daytime job is at a bank, so I sit at a desk most of the day.What do I need to do differently?

I went to the Dr for my follow up since my surgery on DEc 7th. Yep, down 20 pounds, but then I went to the gym and lost 3 more. yey me! I did not get a fill since I dont have much of an appetite. I go back in 3 wks and she said we would think about and adjustment then if I was eating more than a cup. Saw the dietition, of course she yelled at me for not taking my vitamins, but they make me hungry. So she suggested that I change my vitamin. I take Centrum chewable, but I dont think it the maker, I think its just me. So I will try again, but I dont like being hungry and I like taking in around 500-600 calories a day. The redness and swelling around my incisions are because I have a case of dermatitis and I am now allergic to the glue that is on the steri-strips and bandades. Great, turn 49 and now all of a sudden Im allergic to bandades. How does that happen? Oh well, All in all it was a good visit, she was proud of my weight and said I was doing great! another yey me! (crowd applause please!)

Day 3 Postop

finally some of the soreness has gone away!. I guess I pushed myself up in the hospital bed so much that the backs of my calves were screaming at me! All is well, and i was up and around today. Has hot cider for breakfast, chicken broth for lunch, around 5 I had hot cider and 1/2 cp of chicken noodle soup. I mashed up a few of the noodles and was very careful to make sure that it was small enough to go down. Down 6 pounds in 3 days... yey me! still having trouble getting cold water or jello down though.

Day 1 Post Op

Banded day before yesterday, and yesterday the nurse said it was still considered day 0 since I was still in the hospital. So today is day one. Ooooo doggie, my tummie hurts this morning from my incision and its just a rumblin and grimblin in there. Still, I got up and cooked my husband breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs with ham and I am sipping on my hot apple cider. I know it has 80 calories in it, but it really goes down easy and help with my pain. I am going to try to walk a little at the gym today. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Final Countdown

well its here, surgery eve... sipping on a cup of hot apple cider. I had clear liquids all day today which really was not as hard as i thought it would be until now. I could really go for a snack. I sure hope the anesthesia doesnt make me sick. Last time I had surgery was 19 years ago and I was so ill when I woke up. I had to stay overnight because I could not stop dry heaving. So of course Im a little worried about that with the band. I bought chicken broth, beef broth, LOTS of jello, apple juice, white grape juice and hot apple cider. Hopefully that will get me thru the first week. Anyone has any suggestions on what else I can have that is clear liquids? Wish me luck!

stepped on scale today. down to 285, so I have lost 7 pounds. I was expecting a little bit more, but I guess I will take what I get. Yesterday was my second day walking. The first day I walked 1 1/2 miles at the gym and I used the setting "hills". yesterday I only did a mile because I have been battling this could and I felt weak. Will go again today and try to do 2 miles. I went to the nutrition store and bought the muscle milk light shake powder, I like it a lot better and it has alot less calories than the regular powder with alot of vitamins. Gotta get to work. Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!!

Day 8 Of Preop Surgery

Last post was Tuesday November 22. On Wednesday I recieved the call from the dr's office to schedule my surgery date for 12/07/11. yey!!! I have done very well on my shakes. Of course Thanksgiving was a bomb, but I did a shake for breakfast, we ate around 12:30 and I did eat dinner, but I kept it under control. Shake for supper . Friday, I did very well shakes all day and for supper I had a small go wrap from wendys' since I was traveling 3 hrs to Jackson, MS. SAturday I had a scrambled egg and a half of a grilled chicken sandwich. I am going to have to figure out what to do on trips. I dont want to eat like that anymore. so its early sunday morning, I will do all liquids today and weigh in when I wake up. Hopefully I have lost a couple of pounds since the dr visit. Alot of people have commented and asked if I am losing weight, so thats always a good sign. I also need to start excercising. I read up if you put on a pedometer, it is the healthiest to try to get 10,000 steps per day. This equals about 5 miles. So Im going to get me one in the morning and start tracking. Its been a long time since I walked, so my legs are going to scream at me!! lol

Day 4 Of Preop Diet

Today was a good day. I had a grapefruit for breakfast. A friend of mine has 3 pink grapefruit trees in her yard so I was lucky to get 2 huge walmart bags full of grapefruit. They are very good. For lunch i tried the new tomato protein soup. I think the brand name is why weight. 7 pckgs for $12. kind of spendy, but it was actually pretty good. 15 gms of protein, 80 calories and no fat. and I just had my protein shake for dinner. Although Im not starving YET, the urge to chew on sold food is pretty strong, so I am trying my best to stay as far away from the kitchen as possible tonight. Hubby had to eat left overs, but he was okay with it. Still waiting on the call the schedule the surgery.

Day 2 Of Presurgery Diet

I've done pretty good so far today. I managed to make banana pancakes and sausage for my family AND watch them eat while i had my coffee and protein shake. YEY ME! I had another shake for lunch, but i did go manage to talk myself into eating 3 turkey meatballs with marina over about 12 penne pasta. I am having another shake for snack before bed... and no wine :-( sad face. I go to see Dr Lavine tomorrow morning at 9 am. I am very excited to discover when we get to do the surgery. p.s.. I can hear my husband crunching on potatoe chips while I type this.... I can see we are going to have a talk. lol

went to see Dr Lavin today in Metarie, LA. He is such a nice guy. Made me feel very good about doing this surgery. I was hoping that I would get a surgery date today, but apparently the office in Covington, LA schedules those. So I should hear something in the next 3-5 days. I REALLY want to get this thing in December. I want to start my new year off on the right foot. Before I left the Drs office I asked about any special diet, and the nurse said no, just clear liquids the day before surgery. She said they want me to lose a few pounds before the surgery, but did not specify any certain amount. I am still going to do as much liquid as I can so its not such a shock to my body and my appetite. GETTING CLOSER!!! IM EXCITED!
