  1. I have history of depression too. It's not a problem unless it is not being treated. I said I was currently on lexapro and also took alprazalam as needed for anxiety and that I responded well to both. It wasn't a problem. If you have an untreated issue like depression they might want you to see a doctor or pyschologist. You have a history of taking ssri's and I assume being helped by them so I don't see any issue there.
  2. P.s. I was nervous too the day before. Got to hospital at 6 AM and it went really fast. The night before just waiting was the worst.
  3. I was going to be there two nights so took my ipod.
  4. Good luck you two! Will sending positive thoughts your way monday. So exciting. Support group is at NE Baptist OR Conference Room on the first floor at the other end of the hospital from the center the third thursday of every month. They'll probably tell you about it at your first week nutrition and exercise info sessions. The head psychologist is doing the program about life changes I think so it should be good.
  5. What hurt me more than anything was that stupid drain. Thank goodness they took in out before I left hospital.
  6. Thanks. That was interesting for us older ones who are on the board. I'm sure you know there are several of us in our 60s and even 70s. As far as I can tell from posts we've all done fine with our sleeves. Consistent with article although it was on bypass patients. Think us older folks would do even better with sleeve.
  7. My doctor said we will lose the most quickly during the first few months as you all know, and women tend to lose for 12-14 months BUT he also said there is no reason one cannot lose indefinitely if one follows the program. It's the following the program that get harder the farther out one goes I think. I stall pretty much 2-3 weeks every month and still keep losing weight. It's frustrating for that scale to stay the same 3 weeks in a row-pretty much every month, but it does eventually start coming off.
  8. Mine's a small nsv but today I found hose I can wear in a drug store. It's been a long time since that happened.

  10. Are you having it at foundation hospital? Good luck. Forgot to answer your questions. Yes I did the two week preop diet and lost 19 pounds. You're in good hands. Did fine and doing fine. Have lost 125 pounds so far. Still a lot to go.
  11. Dr. Cavazos here - June 10 2010. Just follow his instructions. And come to support group. Sometimes only me or me and one other sleever there. It gets lonely. I've been wondering if any other sleeve folks interested in asking them to get us together as our own group once in a while.
  12. Down a shoe size so far from 9 to 8. Still need wide since my feet are practically square they are so wide but my ankles are smaller and to get width in the ball of my foot shoes flop off my ankles. I almost have to shuffle.
  13. Glad you are getting some sleep. It's weird but at the one week follow up sessions I attended EVERYONE said they were having trouble sleeping. Could it be the anesthesia? Not in much pain after 3-4 days. As I recall it didn't last long, though. A couple of weeks.
  14. Wow. You look terrific. Good you had it done now before finish school and into residency.
  15. That's great. It will be here in no time.
  16. 44 seems large for these days. Seems like typical highest is 40 and many use Smaller. But there are others on the board who know more about this than I do. Oversewing I think would make the stomach smaller and more restrictive.

  18. Jennie O 99% fat free ground turkey if your local grocery chain carries it. What others said above
  19. 1500 mg calcium citrate and 2 bariatric vitamins a day. B12 once a week. Oh vitamin D 4000 units a day. Not bad I think. I already took calcium and a vitamin daily before surgery.

  21. It depends. Some days none but other days if I don't eat for 6 or 7 hours I get hungry. Of course I fill up on very little. Nothing like before surgery. I also sometimes get head hunger but its a lot easier to manage now.
  22. I use the food diary at www.myfitnesspal.com.
  23. Yes. They base their estimates on what the average weight loss is. I think this board is proof that a lot of people lose it all. My surgeon said. Most women lose for 12-14 months (if necessary) but there is no reason one could not lose indefinitely to goal. Just have to follow the program. Some people stop doing that snd hence don't lose all the excess weight.
  24. I think most people regardless of age and wrinkles look younger when they lose weight. It's not just the face nut overall level of energy etc.
  25. Yes to what Diva said. I retained IV fulid so badly the first week (and took a while to get rid of it) that my surgeon made me get an ultrasound of my swollen leg because he was worried I had a blood clot! It is surprising that your nutritionist would suggest something was already going wrong. I too was shocked to read her comments. Like Diva said, everyone loses at a difference pace. I'm happy with my loss but starting in month 3 and continuing to the present, I lose 10 or so pounds really quickly and then stall for 2-3 weeks and then lose another 10 pounds really quickly and then stall 3 weeks, etc. It's frustrating but it's coming off. It's a journey, with layovers and detours -- not a straight line from surgery to goal. Best wishes. You know you can come here for support if the nutritionist gets discouraging again.
