  1. Hello - I am waiting for approval for my lap band surgery. I will be 62 in July and have breathing problems along with high blood pressure, kness that are begging me to loose weight, and legs and feet that love to shoot pain through out my body. My question to you people over 60 is-- do you think the surgery is working well for you? Have you had any problems that you might not of had if you were younger? Was the recoupe time longer? I have a problems with choking right now. After my surgery do you think I will choke more? I am just scared to death of surgery, however, I am also scared of what will happen if the weight does not come off. Can you feel the lap band around your stomach? Are fills painful? Thank you all very much, SuzieQ2
  2. I am guessing that you are talking about your husband??? I can tell you that I understand about not wanting anyone to see your fat or lack of after weight loss. However, I will not keep anything from my hubby. He is 100% behind me. Being able to breath better and having less knee pain is more important than how the fat looks. Good luck to you.
  3. Hello -- My papers have been submitted to the insurance company and I am waiting for a reply. My doctor said for me to call this Tuesday to see where we are in the approval process. I am so scared. I would love to talk to some people 60+ years old that have the band. I thought about the sleeve but, don't cherish the idea of being cut and stapled or stitched up. My insurance does not yet pay for the sleeve. I had no idea that you only lost 1 to 2.5 pounds a week???? I thought it was a greater/quicker loss. I will just work harder to loose it. Also, I can't exercise much at all. Low-low-oxygen. That sure does concern me. They told me I would be on liquids for sometime after the surgery. How can you not loose lots of weight drinking liquids? How was your pain after the surgery? My neighbor had to have her band removed a week after she got it as she was alergic to the material it contained. Good luck on all ya'll getting your bands this month and next. Just keep that positive attitude and a song in your heart.
