  1. I have gotten a couple of good pair at Ross.... around $12 a pair.
  2. EEKS!!! Theres a man in the room! Put your babydolls back on! ( )
  3. Slugs!!!! hahaha! Texture can really dog a nutritious ingredient can't it ?! When I used to eat meat, I wouldn't touch an oyster... felt like I was eating my own tongue. I made sf cranberry sauce yesterday, and have the ingredients to make healthier versions of other killer holliday foods, mostly replacing sugars, and meats..... Fasting today... will try really hard to stay around the 500 cal mark, as it will be a lot harder on other days! Resist the office goodie trays friends!
  4. Nice to hear from you! Glad your lectures went so well.
  5. Interesting, I read the other parts of the article, all interesting. I watch my intake of Fiber, but have pretty much mixed the two together in my count.
  6. I think going to protein for a snack is a winner dear! Unless it was a giant haunch of goat or something... that had to be just fine. Sorry if I missed a post, I probably read it, but.... who knows!? I paruse this site while the TV is on, or I'm at school in computer class and I get interrupted... anyway, I have cared about you from the time I first read your posts here! I remember talking when you lived in SF. I may not be a very good friend... really, I don't reach out as much as I probably should to be a really good friend, but my heart is there. Who is this troublemaker? I don't get out to the other non vet threads as much as I used to, but have seen a few vapid individuals out there that really test my civility. For heavens sakes! What are they thinking sometimes!? Like others have said... if you try to reason with crazy, then your crazy. Stevia, I use it, quite a bit. The "story is" any sweeteners will change the profile of what you want to be more sweet. I still think its better than straight sugar or some other sweetners. I want some sweet, I move away from it a day or two now and then, just to show myself I can! Thats interesting... I blabbed to everyone about my WLS, but not sure I would for a lift.... then again, knowing me, I probably would. My mom got a face lift years ago, my dad liked the idea and results, and went to the same surgeon, asked him for a family discount for himself, and got one too! You are so awesome M2G, you are really good about touching base with us, and so thoughtful about what you say. Thanks girl! Im not sure what that doc is thinking, Having been maintaining goal for 3 whole days,(expert talking!!! ) I do feel a little different, a little more relaxed in a way... but not so relaxed that I think I can forget the routine and just be one with the goal without the work! In the 160's for the third day in a row!
  7. You can freeze them for later if you like... ...that recipe sounds delish! I like cranberries or golden raisins in mine... caramelized onions, mushrooms, sage....
  8. I would recommend, don't go crazy about it, get in one fast day before the big meal day, then back on track after. Maintaining would be a big win during the holidays!
  9. I make stuffing now and again... single serving... I just use good bread, not too much oils, mix with lots of veggies and maybe some fake chicken... I am the evil devil temptress I know, I just have really gone with moderation in all things... and stuffing is one of them! With home made cranberry jelly. I don't make more than one serving, because I will eat the whole thing. In my head, 2 cups IS a serving if I let it be. I do this around once a week or less. Thats probably one reason I have taken sooooo lonnnnng to lose the weight!
  10. I will try to fast Mon and Wed. Im sure I will eat more on feast days... But with the fast days in place, I think it will work. I know I/we are not just like the normal bloke that eats whatever s/he wants on feast days... but I will test it a little bit next week. Write it down, and try to get in some walking.... my dance class is off next week.....
  11. I have seen the 160's two days in a row... I think i will need about 14 to really believe it as well.... I'm a veggie, so will make anything I want to eat that usually is not veggie... I make a mean fake turkey, dressing, gravy and will make sugar free cranberry sauce for me and my dad... and a sugar free desert or two... I look forward to leftovers, fake turkey sandwiches with cranberry is where its at for me this time of year! I am really going to test the 5:2 principles until the new year... AM weigh-in, eat it, write it down!
  12. I see some good recommendations here, perhaps we need a thread to make it easier to find in the future? Heres one I found today that looks interesting: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1607742942/ref=rdr_ext_tmb I was naughty and made a screen shot of the punchline for us....
  13. 8 am here (pacific time), 4pm there (London was my choice)
  14. The titanium staples are permanent girl, they are in for good. They get covered with scar tissue and thats that. They don't get in the way of MRIs or airport metal detectors!
  15. It's not half, its 85%. I love my sleeve, have not had any complications, have reached 100% EWL and rock the 100 staples. I eat what I want, in moderation. I have never puked, I never had to visit the Doc for maintenance (except to check my labs... all good). Everyone has to do what they feel is right for them. If you are afraid of cutting out half your stomach, and getting 100 staples, then don't do it. Who could blame you. Personally, I think the size of my stomach was part of my problem, so saying goodbye to it was more of a relief than sad. It may be part of your problem too, and thats why you are looking at WLS, which all reduce the size of your stomach somehow. After years of trying to work my regular stomach to lose weight unsuccessfully, I was looking for a permanent solution, and with a lot of work on my side, with support, exercise, and daily accountability I think I might just make it work for the long haul. Without revision. Fingers crossed.
  16. Fasting went well yesterday. Got back to goal after 2 1/2 weeks of bouncie bounce bounce above. Seeing it twice makes it more real to me!
  17. You have lost 12 inches in that time, you are replacing fat with muscle tone... I think you are WAY a winner coops... Dont let that scale number bum you out, that measurement number is more important to the way you really look! Big Congrats!! Keep up what you are doing! I want some of that, I need to 1. measure again, and 2. go to the gym more! I got to "goal"...( high end of my bounce range goal) two and a half weeks ago, it lasted one day and I was bouncing above it for the last 2 1/2 wks... today I finally got back to the 60's.... so I am now one pound below my highest bounce weight. My goal is to keep my bounce, high and low end, in the 160's. So very happy about this....at least for today! Surgery date: 1-18-2011 High weight- 259 two days before surgery- 247 one year after surgery- 174 two years after surgery (3-12-2013)- 196.3- back on the wagon, trying TDEE then Southbeach phase1. start the 5:2 plan (6-11-2013)- 190.9 almost 3 years after surgery First Goal, get to the 160's (11-7-13) 168.7 still on the 5:2! 22.2 down on the 5:2 in 5+ months
  18. ^^^^ What?^^^^ I love this site for many reasons, but this ain't one of them.
  19. I have found I need to track and weigh everyday... but I have tried to take that "obsessed" mind part out. I just do it like brushing my teeth. When I don't do it, I gain. I am finally at goal, (well, working on losing a little bounce range) and how I act is mostly the same as I did when I was still in the losing phase. I use the 5:2 and luckily I don't get too cranky, wouldn't like that! It has gotten easier with time. Its a good maintenance tool too, you might even get away with one day a week for that(6:1). (not me so far, but after the bounce pounds are gone... 3 or 4 I may go to one day a week and see if I can keep the weight off) Just do what your doing, its not a race, you will get there! I was 5 pounds from goal when i started gaining, and it took me almost a year to get back there and then to goal. I'm still learning how to do this right!
  20. Jane, I would never want you to stop wearing what you like or pursuing your personal happiness! (spoken by the 60 year old in the skinny jeans and high heel boots with the pierced nose and purple hair!) I don't even think that is necessarily vanity... I'm really talking to myself out loud... the vanity I am talking about is more insidious... hefting around the feeling like I look/am not quite good enough(then what/who?)... and spending precious time being motivated from that... its just like some devils work....
  21. Part of how you can judge where you are is by measurement. Sounds like your body is making some composition adjustments. Do get back on track, use MFP, as time goes by, it does get easier for most to eat more (I took the opportunity to eat more veggies at this time), and really, the need for attention to detail never ends, before, and after all your weight loss. 5 can turn into 20... unfortunately, I know first hand. I have managed to get to goal, at three years out..., but it was not easier the second time to get the weight off. Do the work now if you can get back on track. It may be slow going, but thats ok too... as long as you are heading in the right direction! Congrats on the 85, that is an awesome achievement!
  22. On fast days I make an iced mocha using an ESA chocolate fudge shake and espresso (decaf) or a Thai Iced tea with an ESA french vanilla with some brewed thai ice tea and extra stevia.... I absolutely love them both. low carb, 100 cals, and low or no caffein.Give it a try. Target is the cheapest place to buy them. 4 for less than $5. Way cheaper than Starbucks! I have to stay with the scale and MFP every day. I would rather not, but really, it's the only way I can make it all work. I'm resigned to doing it.http://www.target.com/p/eas-advantedge-chocolate-fudge-shakes-4-count-11-fl-oz/-/A-11061366
  23. Occasionally I realize how many hours, days, months and years that I have spent wanting to look different, spending money and time on trying to change the "not ok'ness of my body/me" when I could have been having fun, or helping someone, or making something magical happen, or learning something new.... What a waste. It really pisses me off! It moves me to go make up for the lost opportunity! I heard a method to get rid of negative behavior.... schedule it. I will now go plan on spending 5 minutes hating my body. The rest of the day? I will work on one of the other activities that are more worthwhile. We have a powerhouse of talent and heart here ladies! AN ARMY. don't you forget it. We can change the world, one little bit at a time. Sarsar, you know the main topic of my (art)work? Vanity. I know its a problem. Its a deadly sin, and a poison. Hating ourselves is a vanity. Thats what I think anyway. I have been working on this one for a while. Vanity and impermanence.
