  1. I doubt they would make you repeat anything. It is for your own safety not operating while you are sick. Airborne, all that stuff- load it up! Push the fluids.
  2. Well this just feeds all my worst fears that is: I will lose very very slowly, the all time slowest loser ever I will have the acid thing that so people get that makes them unable to get anything down even Water I will actually be the first one to steadily gain weight after the sleeve You know the fear drill... The unjury doesn't work at temps over 160 degrees, so you need to make sure of that or it clumps. When I got my sample pack from them it came with a thermometer to use to make sure of that. Could that be the problem? Are you getting all your water? That is supposed to make a big difference.... I so want this to be a brilliant success for you!
  3. second kayak.com - it compares all the other ones. My tip is always search one way as you actually get two one ways cheaper than a round trip. The only airline it does not do is Southwest. It compares all the others like expedia, orbitz, cheap tickets, etc. Its fabulous.
  4. Interestingly I have seen in more than a few places the fact that alcohol can definitely contribute to a stall. A few places said that one way to stop losing if you reach goal and keep losing more than you want to (imagine THAT problem!) that a drink a week can help you stop losing. Hearing that is enough to have me backing off from drinking, at least until I reach goal.
  5. I don't understand- do you mean that with the plication your stomach still absorbs nutrients even though it is folded and stitched? I did not know that. My doctor does not plan to do plication because of that unused portion of the stomach. Most of us on this part of the board have had or will have the sleeve- so forgive my ignorance! There is actually a plication section where you will find other plication people who might better get it! Congratulations on this journey!
  6. Just know that swelling is lots of water weight- believe me.
  7. At Water aerobics I was water walking with someone and discussing stomach acid. She has not had the surgery but had a long history of having EVERYTHING cause acid stomach- even water. There was always a sour feeling in her stomach, and a terrible taste in her mouth. Her Dr. gave her prilosec RX with unlimited refills- and she was concerned as she heard that such medications can cause fractures in women, ultimately over time weakening the bones. She did some research and found that it was reported that drinking unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar can help She decided to try drinking a teaspoon of it in a cup of warm water every morning and was soon completely without symptoms! I knew I should share this here as so many of us suffer with this after surgery and it seems like a great option for us in the long term! If anyone tries it, let me know if it works. I plan to do it as soon as I have surgery...as long as my tum tum can handle it.
  8. First I just want to send you a big big hug. I haven't been sleeved yet but everything you are experiencing sounds totally normal to me. Sipping goes on for a long time- for some longer than others- different foods are tolerated differently by everyone and at different rates, time wise. It sees to me the main point of the time after the surgery is taking a good long time babying your new tummy , letting it heal, and taking your time getting back to eating regular food. The more you are careful during this time after your surgery the better your future eating, from what I understand reading here. You are only a month out so , at least on my doctor's plan, at that point I will still be on pureed foods and I plan to take it slowly and carefully since a few months is a short time in a long life made longer by the sleeve. You have already had amazing results! Think about that and soon "Why did I do this?" will be replaced by "Why didn't I do this sooner?" The part that I think is a harder problem is your husbands lac of support. I simply can't imagine him not being there for you during your surgery. I know that friends and family can feel threatened by this, but I am really shocked that he is behaving this way. I really feel for you. I think you should consider some counseling about this and if he wont go (I suspect not) then go yourself. You need support. Come here and vent too- but we are not there in person and you need to work this through with him or it will just get worse.
  9. That sounds awful! I know how uncomfortable that swelling can make you, too. I sometimes have swelling How do you feel otherwise? Any other symptoms? If you are short of breath or feeling any heart symptoms make sure you page your doctor again.
  10. I am so sorry you are so miserable! I was about to start a thread about acid problems because I was talking to someone at Water aerobics about my fear of having to take an anti acid medication for my whole life- fearful because they are not great for our bones. She mentioned that she had done a lot of research in order to try and treat hers without taking education and found that f she takes a teaspoon of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water every morning it really helped and in fact she went from having even water cause acid to hardly ever having reflux. Maybe that could help you? Make sure it is unfiltered organic, not just regular apple cider vinegar. I am sending you a big hug and keeping you in my prayers. Please give it some time before you consider the rny, I think it is so extreme to divert your intestiines and you might be able to solve this.
  11. \ SO here's that story.... I was at Foothill Junior College in the early seventies, and my newly divorced Mom was there too. I wasn' exactly thrilled with that, being at the age when you are spreading your wings and finding your own identity, you don't exactly want your Mom there too. My Mom had always seemed to specialize in embarrassing me - she would start conversations with strangers wherever we went while I cringed and wanted to slide down under the table...kinda sorta the way I am now (yipes!). It might have been partly because she didn't pay much attention to me, but that's another story. Nothing about that kind of behavior prepared me for what I would encounter that day at college...as I came out of Creative writing class that day, coming towards me were a big group of women, marching about 10 women across , with a hundred or so behind them- 10 bare breasted women calling for bare upper body equality with men...and in the middle of them was my own mother. Try as I did, the ground refused to swallow me up.... And yep, the radio station which called for Mom stories for Mothers Day a few years back liked that story too and I won a brand new comfy expensive bed.
  12. I wouldn't have even wanted to pay the tax on my parents...so I would give that prize back. My husband, on the other hand.... in a sense I did win him as a prize- I placed the worlds best ad on Yahoo personals and boy did I pull out a plum! I will have to post that ad.... There was a typo in my last post- it should have said "dear crosswind" not deal crosswind. I swear I have some kind of add such that I proof read, everything looks good, and it SO is not...
  13. I actually thought this would be the way to go- more realistic. However my doctor told me we have an 12-18 months window or so of real weight loss before our capacity increases and the hunger comes back so he encouraged me to count carbs and maximize those months. Gave me pause!
  14. Click on her username and then look for more of her posts - you will really enjoy them! I for one look for her daiy post now as soon as I wake up. This one really resonated for me- for one thing my headquarters, due to chronic pain, truly is my bed- a bed I, incidentally, won on the radio with a story about my Mom marching topless at the community college I was attending in support of women being allowed to be topless if men were...really. And that feeling you are having deal Crosswind? I believe , along with happiness...that is called HOPE.
  15. Congratulations! Glad you are doing well. Mine will come soon too, can;t wait to join you!
  16. I will be seven weeks away from my 58th birthdy on my sleeve day next month. It is never too late to get your life back!
  17. Say what? I had to giggle that of all things a scale would appear at work while you were away. Congrats on your progress!
  18. I hope you saw that I too apologized for my snappy remark back- your post just hit me wrong when so many people give so much and I had see your problem addressed so thoroughly. Still, I should not have come down on you- we are a support system and that was SO not supportive! Glad you have broken your stall- and you have lots of tips now should you reach another one.
  19. I guess that depends on whether you want to stay stalled or you want to actually lose weight. ;-P Your plan, though it has a sort of romance to it, will send your body into survival mode sure as shootin' . You need that protein, I am sorry to tell you... to protect your muscles and to start your body using the fat deposits for fuel- and I am quite sure you wan that or you would not have had 85% of your stomach removed! Pssst, by the way, you did have an operation ;-P
  20. I'm waiting for today's thread Ms. Crosswinds and impatiently drumming my fingers....
  21. Do a search for vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Also we all do have links in our sigs and once you find one person you will see lots of suggestions for others and next think you know you are wandering from one to another.
  22. \As is happens, I HAVE a prescription for medical marijuana but it seems to me that , while it ight calm you down a bit, it would also make you HUNGRY....really really HUNGRY.
  23. I can use some couponing instruction...not to be like the wackadoodles I saw on Extreme Couponing- but enough to save some major money. Those people are extreme but they save some major bucks. One of the issues for me is that grocery stores don't do double couponing so much in CA. I think those couponing superstars are not in CA. And Crosswinds dear? Just so you know, not that I want to pressure you or anything, I head to the site after every couple of hundred of weddingphotos I edit looking for a new topic of convo from you....so get cracking!
  24. Go go go! Rock that sleeve!
