  1. You have gotten the best answer possible but I just wanted to say I love your username- check out my most recent You Tube video and you will see how I feel about sock monkeys! (link in sig)
  2. Hooray and welcome to life with a sleeve!
  3. Girl be careful about egg salad- my particular diet plan allows scrambled and soft boiled eggs but cautions you to wait until 8th week to have hardboiled. I realize they are all different , our doctors, but I don't want you to regret it AFTER the fact! Thanks for paving the way for Michelle and me After reading this I am not in as much of a hurry to have mushies as I was. You sound great though! I am thrilled for you. I didn't gain today but remember I did last week.
  4. Certainly after reading here it seems different to do net carbs but my nutritionist recommends it- and I will see if it works. It basically rewards you for choosing carbs like an apple, etc.I am willing to try it to see if it works for me and if not then I am off on my own - counting carbs period.I'll be reportin ;-P As for trusting the nutrition label though- if you don't trust the fiber amount why do you trust the carb amount? I sometimes wonder who monitors this stuff!
  5. I am so sorry it took me so long to chime in! I woke up really late today and was behind on my fluids all day so I wouldn't allow myself to post for a while until I got caught up! I am so very happy too! I never would hav thought 30 pounds would leave my body in a month....and though of course being on liquids I worked for it it is giving me the first hope I have had for a long time. Remember when Crosswind would post every day after she was sleeved? SHe reported crying every day too ;-P SO far I have not done that but give me time- and remember the fat cells release hormones as they burn so we could be all over the place emotionally in the next months! I will always feel a special bond with you Michelle and with Kelly -of course all our RVs but you two in particular are close to my heart and I never want to lose touch with you! As excited as I am to see my surgeon tomorrow I am also going to accept whatever he decides with out bumming out because more than anything I want a healed healthy thumby. I at least hope he adds cottage cheese and yogurt that is not thinned. That alone would help a LOT. I am so sick of the sweet stuff- though I can't moan too much as my two sweet drinks today have me at 84 grams of Protein, If you remember, I gained 2 pounds last week (which with our differing amounts of weight to lose is proportional) and then lost them slowly over the following three days. I figure that is why recording your weight once a week is better- there I had updated my slider and my fat secret profile and then had to wait to get back to it being true! With my whole world being Fluid, protein, etc. it is hard not to be scale centric, huh? I love you and will always be here for you!
  6. I love fatsecret - i was bugged by fitnesspal telling me i had not eaten enough!
  7. I predict you will feel much better by that appointment on Friday- Day 5 was a turnaround day for me but I did not really start walking until yesterday for real- before that maybe a block at most. Don't worry this early- just focus on healing.
  8. Are you exercising? I know that helps a lot. The other thing- when you admit you snack on candy or chips I think you have already answered your own question. I have learned a lot in my research going in to my sleeve and it is not just about calories. My surgeon really got me to understand how important it is to get lots of Protein and to count carbs. He said that you have to deprive your body of carbs to make it burn the fat. Have you counted carbs? Those chips and candy alone could be stopping you from realizing the loss you are hoping for. Most everyone I have seen do really well with the sleeve counts carbs to a varying degree. I plan to take in no more than 40-50 net carbs a day. If that doesn't work well enough, I will lower it. I am only at two weeks but I already make sure I get 80 grams of protein a day and all my Water, and a max of 60 carbs I am giving myself a little more carbs while I finish healing. After that I am determined to maximize the honeymoon period of weight loss. You have plenty of time to do that yourself!
  9. I was hoping you would post! I am thrilled to hear your news about feeling so good! I think all three of us are doing famously. And it looks like you have lost tons of weight- woohoo! Oh I hope we both have good news on Wednesdy. I am soooo ready for mushies!
  10. See someone else- you should not be forced to have surgery you do not want when opinions differ For me reflux would be much preferable to the malabsorption of the bypass.
  11. Hooray! Looking forward to seeing your journey! And I am fresh enough from the surgery to help if you have problems or questions...
  12. I think you are doing the right thing starting now and her is why. I cheated twice in my two weeks- once at a wedding we photographed because I just couldn't work 10 hours without eating- I had some chicken and vegetable only. I also had a piece of pizza three days before my surgery- I had gone to my GP to possible have mu surgery canceled due to a cold and my husband, knowing how I'd be feeling if it was canceled, got me a small pizza with my favorite toppings a- then my surgery was not canceled. I ate the toppings off of a piece and felt fine about it. I followed the diet carefully every other day- nothing but liquids, 70 grams protein a day- lots of water- and lose 18 pounds pre surgery. My doctor specifically said that my liver looked great. So, shocking as this advice will seem- I think you can pick one day on your vacation and have a nice dinner. Just one- and not if it will throw you off the plan completely. STarting early will give you even more assurance. And vacation next year will be wonderful!
  13. You know, even though I am postop- I am still sick of the pre-op diet! It is harder than being post-op so just know that. Even though I am going on my fifth week of thin liquids including that 2 weeks, I now have no hunger and that is a BIG difference. Know that you are really helping yourself get ready for this new phase in your life, that it really will help your liver be ready for surgery, and that aside from the first few days of post surgery recovery when you may have trouble getting anything down- it really will never be this bad again. You will be able to eat anything you want again in the future and you will finally lose the weight. Good luck to everyone on the 27th! I will be your den Mom , being 18 days ahead of you.
  14. Call your doctor- that is a lot - too much liquid out.I had it every day for about 10 days but only onece a day and now it has quited down. Increase your Water as much as you can lest you end up back in ER for fluids. Are you on full liquids? Could it be the dairy products? I would definitely let your doctor know.
  15. I had a cold the week before my surgery and my surgeon explained that I would not want to be in recovery in less than optimum shape! I understood what he meant and luckily got over my cold but if I had been sick still would have postponed. Glad yours went away! You will need all your energy for healing. Use a sinus wash today too to be sure.
  16. Isn't it amazing? I can't quite really wrap my mind around it- it hardly seems real as it happened so fast. This has never happened before for me. Hopefully some of my tips for Protein helped you! I think it is important because if you give your body protein it will turn to the fat cells for burning instead of muscle.
  17. OH I can just IMAGINE that chicken salad! YUMM! egg salad is something I am craving beyond reason ;-P Update your ticker girl! It is so easy to do...
  18. I love this thread! Won't post formally since at 2 weeks today I am still think liquids- though I do get my 80 grams of Protein and 64 ounces of liquids religiously- right now it feels like my full time job to do it. It was cool to realize I have already lost 23% of my excess weight! I love seeing everyones story. IN fact I would love it if the ones who posted in April posted again , quoting themselves and updating. MY plan, I do have- 80 grams protein 64 plus ounces Water 40 grams net carbs multi Vitamin, calcium, b12 5 x week water aerobics
  19. I was on the 9th so leadin' the way by two days ;-P 30 pounds- awesome! Isn't it kind of amazing? I am still a bit dazed by the concept of being 28 pounds down (this a.m.) from my high weight starting my two week pre-op. I also have video logs (see link below) and share tips about stuff etc. I was helped so much by others on You Tube I want to share too. I figure we can all give each other tips to negotiate this journey!
  20. Yes I do have foam so I let it sit for a while until the foam dissipates. I use a wonderful stainless steel Camelback cup that will keep something cold ALL day- it is wonderful They have them at REI- there are several kinds of insulated but the one for all day ($30 but REI is 25% off this week) is the one. Keeping the Protein drinks cold is so important for me being able to finish them. Yes- the greek yogurt is so awesome for cutting the sicky sweet flavor and making it more tolerable. It is great in soup too- like sour cream- and adds protein,
  21. GO Gurrrrl GO Gurrrrrl Onederland Happy Dance for you! WOOHOO!!!!
  22. Interesting because my surgeon has you do B12 every other day from the start.
  23. Oh yeah- definitely. I had found some Protein drinks I liked before surgery and post surgery they made me gag. All that research down the tubes. Luckily I had gotten a bunch of samples and was able to scramble and find a couple that still work for me so I am fortunate in being able to get the 80 grams my doctor INSISTS I get even in the liquid phase. Not on real food yet so it will be interesting to see what else has changed. I do notice my sense of smell is so acute now- amazing.
  24. For me it was carbs. My first week I had about 4 carbs a day and got to the point I could hardly move after improving steadily every day for a week. So I was told to add thinned Soups and after three days of increasing my carbs to about 40 a day I felt a lift in energy and now feel much much better! I did have bloodwork and am not anemic. Have a look at your carbs breakdown- that could be the issue. My nutritionist said not to worry so much about carbs in this period- worry about healing and returning to full energy!
  25. That is absolutely wonderful to hear! That must have been so awful- I was concerned about you. Onward and downward! ;-P
