  1. Girl, we have ALL been right where you sit! Just stay positive and focused and know that after surgery, time seems to fly!!! I can't believe i am over 6 weeks post op! Try to enjoy this time and get as prepared as you can. Can't wait to hear how everything goes!!!
  2. I am wondering about my inner thighs. I think the skin is so stretched and with the stretch marks, it will never go back. I get rashes from rubbing, wonder if my PCP documents that, if insurance would cover to have that skin removed/lifted? I have federal employee blue cross/blue shield. Anyone know if that could possibly be covered?
  3. I am 6 weeks post op and so far the only activity I get is chasing my kids. I still do not have the energy level back but I think I am going to bite the bullet and start something, even if it is just walking the neighborhood while kids ride bikes. It is in the mid 90s here so that would be the only reason we do not make it a very long time outside! PS Stacey, congrats on the weight loss! PPS Melisa! Only 29 more to go!!! Great job!
  4. OK, it is Wednesday and I am back to my low weight from last week so bring on the weight loss for this week, finally! Water weight is a real pain once a month! And I am started to feel more restriction so I am scared that I will not get all my protein in each day, hope that does not slow me down! Until next Monday... Have a great week everyone!
  5. I am tracking everything, carbs, fat, Protein, calories and Water. My weight loss has slowed way down but is consistently .2 to .4 pounds per day (except for this week during monthly visitor I put on water weight). I do not go over 30 g of carbs or fat each day and stay around 600 calories. I get at least 65-70 g of protein a day. My next challenge will be to add in some physical activity although I am still very tired and worn out, especially at the end of the day. I might start exercising in the morning, seems to be the best time for me, I have the most energy then. I am 6 weeks post op. In 3 weeks I go to Disney World, hoping to be under 150 which would be about another 7 pounds, pray for me!!! PS The reason I track carbs is because I have always been a carb eater and that is what makes me fat, I just know my body, so following the golden rule of protein and water first, that has really helped me take focus OFF any carbs at all. Somedays I am under 20 g of carbs and I remember when I first started this journey, I could not for the life of me think how I would ever get under 30 g of carbs but I know now, with planning and research it is very possible!
  6. Congrats Daisy! Much continued success on your journey!
  7. Starting Weight: 180.6 Current Weight: 158.4 (but was down to 156.8 earlier in week before monthly visitor!!!) Goal #1: 160.6 (met on Sunday, 6 June 2010) Goal #2: 150 Goal #3: 140 Goal #4: 130 Goal #5: 120 Goal Weight: 110 (I am 5' tall) Total Lost: 22.3 Hope to show double loss next week since water weight is affecting my numbers today!
  8. I know the 10 days seems like a lifetime but just keep pushing thru and it will be over soon! Time really starts flying post op! Hang in there!
  9. What does your doctor say? You need to go by the guidelines given by your doctor. For me, at 31 days out I was released to eat anything so I am allowed to try breads. The only problem with that being a month out is that if you are following the Protein first rule, there is no room for bread, at least for me at almost 6 weeks out, that is the case. I have had some special K crackers with laughing cow cheese. I tried a few pringles the other day and I was only able to eat two and I was full. I pretty much try to avoid breads and most carbs right now. Here recently, I noticed that I feel more restriction than a few weeks ago so it is getting harder for me to get all of my protein in thru the day. If I aded something so heavy like bread, it would be impossible.
  10. We had recital rehearsal all week, Monday thru Wednesday was regular rehearsals, Thursday night was dress rehearsal until about 11:30, Friday night was our first performance followed by two more on Saturday so I have been living at the auditorium all week. I made sure I had beef Jerky around and tried to make the best choices I could thru the weekend. I did try to eat a few pringles and those seem to be too dense, I might have gotten two down. I am sure I have gained a little cause my Fluid intake was down the past three days, I worked in the dressing room and backstage and just never slowed down. Having a down day today trying to get back in my routine of eating and drinking. I can honestly say that I truly missed my schedule of eating, I did not like not feeling prepared. I also did not like the limited choices I had when I just had to pack something in a bag, most stuff I eat now is prepared so fast food was not an option. All in all, it was a great recital, I cried watching my girls dance... We are taking a year off of dance and just doing one tumbling class a week starting in September. Three weeks until we go to Disney! Next adventure to get ready for!
  11. I don't know of many sleevers here that are not taking a PPI of some kind for reflux. I take Zantac twice a day and I know it when I forget to take it. Also, it took me quite a while to work up to getting all my fluids and Protein in, you have to just keep working at it slowly. Best of luck!
  12. The stretch marks are my issue, if not for those my skin would be rebounding. If I feel I can't live with the skin on my inner thighs and arms after losing all of my weight then I will just save up for one more procedure. Wow Ninaboo, I have had three children, twins and a single and i had stretch marks from my boobs to my knees! Awesome for you!!! Some of us are not so lucky!
  13. That is so great!!! I see a huge difference! Way to go, keep it up and you will be at goal before you know it!!!
  14. This thread has really made me miss my home state!!! Nothing here in WV even compares to our yummy Tex Mex! Hopefully I will be moving home in about a year! Thanks for sharing everyone! I will start experimenting soon!
  15. Must have been down, I tried to get on last night and had the same problems! I hate missing my chat time!!!
  16. 60 grams is the minimum recommended daily intake of protein. If you are newly sleeved, you will not get this much in but this is something to work towards. I am 5 weeks post op and have no problem getting in 60 grams and most days I exceed that. It is about managing your meals daily and eating your protein first at every meal and then if you have room, you can eat other things. You can get at least half of the 60 grams in one protein drink and then choose your proteins wisely to get the most protein in the least amount of food (ie tuna, talipia, turkey, some cheeses, etc...).
  17. Went great! I am down 22.3 pounds in 5 weeks and doing really good. Finally got the hang of my new way of eating. I am still a little weak but I think in another couple of weeks I will regain some strength. I certainly feel much better, moved down a pant size already! You can PM me if you want to chat more. Where are you going for your surgery?
  18. Congrats! It is totally a learning process so we are all right here with you!
  19. That is great!!! I am 5 weeks post op and have lost 22.3 pounds, isn't it great??? As Goodlife asked, what guidelines are you following in terms of your nutrition? Congrats and keep it up!
  20. Starting Weight: 180.6 Current Weight: 158.3 Goal #1: 160.6 (met on Sunday, 6 June 2010) Goal #2: 150 Goal #3: 140 Goal #4: 130 Goal #5: 120 Goal Weight: 110 (I am 5' tall) Total Lost: 22.3
  21. Good for you! Glad it all worked out for the best. I will NEVER let someone tell me that I took the easy way out with this surgery. It is not easy! I will also not expect anyone who has not had the surgery to understand that it is not easy and that will be fine with me too.
  22. I understand where you are coming from! I am in the same boat but I can tell you it gets easier!!!
  23. Tiff, great story! I think that song surfaced in one of the Shrek movies maybe, or some other kids movie so my kids have heard that too but have not connected the words just yet... I think one thing that scares me is my 8 year old daughter. She has a cute little figure now but I can tell between her and my 7 year old daughter that she will be more likely to have a weight problem. Lately I noticed that she inhales her food, it takes her no time to eat at all. I have tried to encourage her to eat slower and I can tell that there are times she does recognize this. She is a little gymnast and dancer so she is active but her eating habits scare me. I know it is up to me to make sure she develops good habits. My 7 year old eats hardly anything at all and my 8 year old boy eats well and alot of times skips dessert or candy at the movies. Anyway, that was an aside but another concern about my children developing good self image and respect for others...
  24. Hey Ladies, I am almost 5 weeks post op and still get winded. I live in a 3 story townhouse and laundry is on the bottom floor (did I mention I am a single Mom and have 3 kids???) so I have enlisted my children's help in doing anything that involves climbing stairs and carrying things. I find that I have more energy in the morning. I work full time outside the home so during the week, lots of chores just do not get done and I have had to accept that for the time being (I am a clean freak normally and can't leave my house untidy). I have accepted that the laundry, the dishes, the vacuuming can all wait until the weekend. You will gain some energy back once you can switch to more regular, high Protein foods but I think with any surgery and being adults, recovery is a long process. Just because our incisions and drain holes have healed, doesn't mean WE are healed, it just takes time. I can say that my weight loss and progress are slow and steady and I am so glad I made this choice to change my life. I have had days where I did not know how I was going to adjust to the very little food I am able to eat but my body has shown me that I don't need all of that food to survive and in fact, the protein first, everything else after is how I eat everyday. I am eating better than I ever have. One of the best things about the Sleeve is that if you feel that you have had a bad day, maybe you didn't follow the plan well one day, you wake up the next morning and guess what, you get to do it again, the Sleeve will be there everyday for you to start over! And messing up now is not an entire chocolate cake, it might be a few bites if that! Even on days when I might lick the Peanut Butter off my finger from making my kids a sandwich and feel bad for that, I still see a loss (when before the sleeve, I would have had at least a few tablespoons of peanut butter and God knows what else before I stopped and then feel horrible and see the scale go up). Congrats to everyone for taking this step to a healthier, happier you! So glad we are all here to support each other! I certainly benefit everyday from reading your posts and sharing my experiences! Have a great Sunday!
  25. What a wonderful milestone! Congrats and keep up the amazing work!!! Can't wait to join you! Enjoy your success!
