    Anyone get rebanded?

Way to go! I haven't told everyone that I have been rebanded. People are very opinionated about the whole thing and it was a personal decision that I made. I did gain back almost 40 pounds but have lost over 20 of it since rebanding. I am well on my way to goal. Good luck and keep me updated. Love to hear about a fellow rebander!
  2. I had my lapband taken out on March 1 due to slippage. I had been very successful with the band. Start weight 247 lowest weight 157. I am seriously thinking of being rebanded and my doctor is in the process of passing it through my insurance. I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the rebanding process.

    Anyone get rebanded?

Well, I am rebanded as of Feb. 11 and doing great. It was much easier the second time around and I had my first fill a week ago. I was very conservative w/that fill and only had 1.5 cc's put in. Very little restriction but some restriction is better than no restriction and I have lost over 20 lbs. I am much more aware of what I am doing and how my body feels. Loving my new band.
  4. I am getting ready to have the band put back in and am way more prepared this second time around. I live in a very small area with not a lot of options for shopping, but where do/did you buy your food/nutritional supplements during your liqued and soft food stages? My doctor sells from his office, but I was wondering if there were other places/stores that are good to shop at. Also, what was/is your favorite protein during these two stages? I want to stock up!
  5. My life after lapband removal will be "my life after lapband replacement" starting tomorrow. I will have it replaced around 7:30. I am so very excited to have this second chance to get it right and am more prepared this second time around. Love to hear from all those in my situation.

    Band to be Removed

I had my band removed March 1, 2009 because of a slip. At that time I weighted 163..only 8 pounds away from my personal goal. I have gained 30 lbs. since then and am totally disgusted with myself. :cursing:I am going to have the band put back on Feb. 11. I am keeping the same surgeon that put it in the first time. It was not his fault that it slipped. He is amazing. I am so thrilled to have this second chance. I hope that you get better with your band removal and have different results than myself. It is totally a personal decision what you do from that point on. Trust me, you will have lots of people giving their opinions about how they feel about the band, your weight loss, etc. I am so tired of hearing it that I have only told a select few that I am having it replaced.
  8. I live near Eureka, Ca. My surgeon is in San Fransisco. There is one that does the surgery here but I chose mine based on their experience and success.

    Anyone get rebanded?

I just heard back from my doctor two days before Christmas that I have been approved for surgery!! Yippee. I am planning to be rebanded on Feb. 11. I am waiting because I am a school secretary and that is the week before a week off for President's week. How is everyone that got a new band in doing? Interested to hear your stories now that you have it back in. I received the approval letter from insurance yesterday stating that they believe the surgery is medically necessary:thumbup:
  10. I had band issues on and off for a year before it finally slipped and I had to have it removed. :crying:That was back in March and I have worked hard to keep the weight off, but have gained enough that my pants are terribly tight.:w00t: I don't know how much because I refuse to step on the scale. I also refuse to buy bigger pants. So, until I loose weight I will be uncomfortable. Makes me think before I put food in my mouth! I also, just got the news yesterday that my insurance has approved me to have the band put back in. I plan to have the surgery in February. I can't wait to have my band back.
  11. Don't chance it. Go to get it checked out. Mine slipped and started killing my stomach. A slipped band can cause serious problems. I had mine removed last March. Looking to get it put back in. It's still a good tool. Just dont' take problems lightly.
  12. I am still at 75 lbs lost, but am happy with that. Not gaining. Still would like to loose another 15 though. Congrats on your appointment. Let me know how it goes and what your date is. I remember that feeling. Excited, nervous, ready to change your life. And you will change your entire life. Do you have a good support system? Prepare yourself. Try some of the foods you can buy from them or online. I will look when I am at home and see what ones that I liked and didn't like to give you a heads up, but our taste might be different. I bought mostly through them, but found some places online also. GNC has some good powder liquid Proteins mixes and you will need to add Protein to get all you need, especially when you are on liquids for that first month+. Hope it goes good today. Can't wait to hear.
  13. My insurance covered my surgery and I paid $5,000 out of pocket for 6 years of after care. He doesn't do his fills w/flouro but have had no problems doing it this way really. I'm glad the drive is good for you. I got a fill every time they were up here for the first year it seemed! It has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Contact them again. I am surprised they haven't gotten back to you. They usually do within a few days. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
  14. I live in Fortuna. It is about 2 hours away from the Oregon border, right on the coast. Dr. Jossart (or Dr. Cirangle) comes to Eureka, (15 minutes from here) once a month. I was required by my insurance to have my surgery at Good Samaritan hospital in San Jose. (Even further away.) Totally worth it. There aren't a lot of choices around here for weight loss surgery, atleast not that I would trust. My other option was going to Redding (3 hours away), but a friend had lap band surgery from LAPSF and had a great experience and after doing lots and lots of research and meeting with Dr. Jossart, I felt that they were right for me. I was had a good surgery experience with very little complications. (Had a little breathing problem after surgery because of anethesia but nothing serious, they were just taking good care of me and I am thankful for it.) I was able to be in and out the same day. Stayed over night in Santa Rosa and was home the next day. It is hard to only have the option to see them once a month if I don't want to take that long trip. You have to decided if you are too tight or not tight enough right away or just live with it for a month. I did have a slipped band in October after a bout with the flu and a trip to SF and taking all the fluid out of the band fixed it, but have struggled with the weight loss since then. Have been stuck at 75 lbs lost for a while but starting to loose the weight again. I am healthy and happy and would do it again in a heart beat. I hope this info helps with your decision. It just has to feel right for you. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer. Good luck!
  15. Dr. Jossart put my lap band in. I live 5 hours away from San Fran. Has been fine except for when I had some problems and had to drive there to find out what was going on since they only come up here once a month. He is wonderful though.

    November Bandsters!

Are you eating too quickly or too much at one time? That is usually when it happens to me and I use it as my Q to start behaving myself. Could be something else entirely though. I would definately talk to your doc about it because heart burn is nothing to mess around with.

    Fibromyalgia

I have fibromyalgia and was banded in November 2006. I have lost over 75 and was hopeful that this would help since I got rid of high blood pressure and diabetes, but unfortunately it hasn't been the case for me. I know it does help some and my doc was hopeful also. Who knows, maybe it just takes more time. It has helped everything else though, so no complaints.

    November Bandsters!

Hi everyone! It has been a long time! I had some lapband issues after getting the flu and some difficult months, but with a lot of work I am back on track. Looks like you all are doing well. Once I figure out how to do it, I will post some before and after pics.

    Leak in the Band

I just found out thursday that I have a leak. I am going in Monday to have contrast and find out what to do. Possibly surgery. What has happened with others in this situation?

    November Bandsters!

Oh, I hope they can do that. I just feel sick, thinking about having to have surgery again. (I have to travel 5+ hours to the hospital my insurance approves for surgery). I will definately ask. Thanks Betsyjane.

    November Bandsters!

Hi everyone. I haven't been on in a while. I have been struggling with no restriction for the past few months. Went to doctor today and found out that I have a leak. I had been suspicious for a while since I had a hard fill in April. So tomorrow I will schedule an appointment in San Fran to find out where the leak is and schedule surgery. Has anyone else had this problem?

    November Bandsters!

Tom, That is so awesome. My doctor has also told me that I am a model LapBand patient. Why would someone get the surgery and still want to eat the 25 wings and not be happy and excited to be satisfied with 10. (Which with a proper fill would be impossible anyways). I hope that you are able to get the nutrition you need to feel better. You really do sound like a fibromyalgia person. I haven't been on a lot lately. Did they rule that out? I have a lot of problems sleeping and it makes the pain worse and then it is very hard to get out of bed and make it through the day. Most people do not understand that and it is hard to diagnose. It took years for me and I felt like I was going nuts. Some doctors even thought I was making up my symptoms. After diagnoses and treatment I have been able to regain a lot of my energy, but if I have a bad "flare up" as I call it I could be in bad shape for a week or two. Sometimes I go in and get shots in my trigger points. Congrats on exceeding your goal. You are an inspiration. Beckie
  23. I have been wondering the same thing. I have been very very careful with portion sizes but didn't even think about drinking too quickly. I'm almost completely filled and don't feel restriction. Going to see my doc. this week and find out.

    November Bandsters!

Thanks. I hope so. It's hard not to kick yourself. After all this and I feel nothing. We'll see what he says and get it figured out. Atleast I'm not gaining!

    November Bandsters!

Hi everyone. Haven't been on much lately. It's the last 2 weeks until school is out for summer and I have been working hard to get everything wrapped up for the year. I seem to have a different problem than most. I am almost filled to capacity and do not feel the restriction. I tried going back on liquids for a few days but didn't make it because I was starving. I eat off a saucer so I know that I am not over eating. Do you think I could stretch my pouch by drinking liquids too quick? I am very frustrated. I feel like I have done everything right and now I am stuck. This can't be it. My doctor will not be up this way until the 21st so I will see him then. I'm sure he'll say I have to take the 5 hour trip to SF where his office is to see what is going on. What do you all think?
