Bye Lucy.
Thanks. I had no idea that I could be so attached to a dog. My bf said if there is no puppy heaven, then for him it wouldn't be heaven so hopefully we'll get a good snuggle in someday.

Bye Lucy.
Today my naughty doggie Lucy died. She was my friend. She was mean to other dogs and would try to bite them on the bum. She loved to try and run away and go on doggie adventures, and she would poop where she shouldn't. But, she also was there every day when I came home good day or bad to crawl under the covers in my bed and lick my feet (gross, I know.) And most importantly my dog was a friend to my foster daughter Maryah. Maryah felt confident because she took responsiblity for Lucy, and they loved each other. Maryah carried Lucy around on her shoulders like a pirate and its parrot. So, like Maryah said,"we will be sad, and we will cry." And, I will also be grateful that God blesses us with love through his other children and through the animal friends he made us. Bye Lucerts.

Day Two of liquids - headache
Oh good. I am on full liquids for two weeks and I'm only in the middle of day two. I am so hungry and wanna chew. And truthfully I'd kill a guy for a diet coke. Just today. Just make it today....it'll be comforting to know I'm walking in fully prepared, healthy liver, etc.

14 days
So two weeks from today I fly to Mexicali and two weeks from tomorrow I will be sleeved. Things that I never thought could happen to me are feeling possible. *I will be healthy enough to have babies *My knees won't hurt *I will not be too tired to carry my laundry up the stairs *I won't be destined to get diabetes *I won't be angry at Halloween when I can't find a costume to fit *I won't be the girl with "the pretty face," I can just be the pretty girl. *I won't need to cringe when its time for takeoff and have to ask for a seatbelt extender. *I will know that if something goes wrong in a relationship, at work, or in play it will be because of something I did not because of how overweight I am. *I will be able to walk into a store and know that my lack of cash might prevent me from buying the things I want, but not my booty. *I will be able to enjoy the things I like to eat, without being obsessed. *I will be able to have the energy to paddle the boat when I go rafting, rather than just going along for the ride. *I will be able to finally feel like the outside of me, looks more like how I feel inside. *When I get married, I will be able to fully give my body to my husband, and not feel ashamed or scared. I know that this won't fix all life's problems, but life is difficult and painful all in its own and it will be so nice to be able to face those difficulties without 150 extra pounds weighing me down. I'm so excited to get started.

Protein Drinks
Just found out that GNC lets you buy protein shakes and if you hate em you can return em.

Less than 24 Hours
Amazing! Its so good to hear that things are going pretty well. What a cool start to this journey. Good for you.

GNC return policy
Hey I have had a few icky Protein shake experiences as I am trying things. I found a lot of the best deals online, but then when stuff would get to me it was really hit or miss whether or not I liked it. But....I discovered that GNC lets you return things w/in thirty days with a receipt if you don't like it. So its a good place to try and sample and then if you like stuff buy cheaper online. Just wanted to share! Anna

Scared to death!
You will be great. What an amazing gift to give yourself and your daughter. Our girls especially need to see that its okay for us to take care of ourselves and thats what you are about to do. This is risky, but the risk of staying obese wasn't just a possiblity that you'd develop health problems, with obesity its just a matter of when. You are eliminating that risk and giving yourself and your baby girl a chance at a long and healthy life together. Good luck! My surgery is two weeks from tommorrow I'll be watching for updates from you. Take care, Anna

Anyone post op experience leg cramping at night?
If there are vitamin d defincies, remember that some of our vitamin d absorption comes from just 15 min a day being in the sun and I don't know if its the same for everyone, but my little Utah town has been gloomy and overcast for months.

Anyone else?
Sorry I am starting to get nervous/excited/obsessed! I am going to Dr. Aceves on my own to get sleeved on March 24th. Will anyone else be there during that time????

Protein Powder to fly home with????
I am compulsively prepping for my surgery. I am being sleeved on 3/25 by Dr. Aceves and will be traveling alone, my worry is that on the airport days (which will be LONG) I need to be able to get my Protein in still. Any recommendations on powder packets I could get/where I can get them? I am only taking one bag and don't wanna take a giant tub of protein. Thank you, Anna

Y'all will not believe this article...very insightful
Still a pre op so take what I say w/ that in mind. I was a part of a biggest loser competition at my gym and worked w/ a trainer 5x a week for an hour then had to work out 7 days a week additionaly for an hour a time each. With all this my "weight loss" was only 18 lbs, but I lost almost 33 inches. And in the seminars we did w/ the lead trainer he said the thing that determines 70-80% of OVERALL HEALTH is what we put in our mouths. It wasn't even a statement about weight. It was about health and what a big percentage what we eat plays in it. food is only one component. We might not be able to get them all at once, but to be truly healthy which for me is the overall goal, we must exercise too.

What a week!
AMAZING!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing.

I had my VSG almost nine months ago after they reversed a jejunoilleal bypass.
I'm still preop but the recommendations I've found are 70g protein daily and less than 30g carbs daily. Also, with exercise I had the pleasure of working with a trainer and one of the standouts is the concept that you have to "shock your system." When you first started walking your 40 min daily that was challenging to your muscles and body, but as you get better at it, you start to burn less calories than you once did, so its important to mix it up and try other types of exercise even if you only do something else a couple times per week and continue your walking. Good luck! You are really doing a great job. Can't weight to be losing with you.

Low blood pressure issues
Sorry, the article mentioned that you may want to ask for an xray of your abdomen...good luck sweet lady!

Low blood pressure issues
Tiff, I am so sorry, I know that you have experienced loads of difficulties. I looked up some info on your condition and found it interesting that one of the causes are the meds used post surgery. Low blood pressure is commonly caused by drugs such as: Alcohol Anti-anxiety medications Certain antidepressants Diuretics Heart medicines, including those used to treat high blood pressure and coronary heart disease Medications used for surgery Painkillers Is it possible that there is a bleed somewhere in your body from your surgery? Would it be possible to visit w/your surgeon? I'm so sorry that you have to change the food things too, I'm sure that will be scary emotionally after you've had so much success. You are in our thoughts and prayers, take care of yourself and let John take care of you. Anna

Help! Need encouragement
obesity help also has a listing of all baritric surgeons w/ lots of patient comments on each, and unlike here negative comments don't get deleted.

Second Thoughts. Did anyone else feel this?
I'm preop too and have some of the same fears as you. I know that I am going to be a beast to be around for a few months and I'm telling my friends and bf to brace themselves. But, I can only imagine what it will feel like to have a body that matches who I am inside. I dream of being someone who enjoys riding the rollercoaster, instead of being afraid that the belt might not fasten (btw, that has happened to me, not pleasant!) I'd like to be able to have people tell me I'm pretty, not "you have a pretty face." And mostly it would be nice to have a body that feels my age, rather than like someone fifty years older than me. I have surgery a week after you, good luck with everything and keep posting, keep chatting with these wise ladies, and even though I'm not experienced I'd be happy to be a part of your cheering squad, or a place for you to vent. We can do this!!!!

Unsupportive Partner?
My guy has been supportive, but is scared. He knows that a big portion of what we do as a couple revolves around food, and he also seems to have a good understanding that this will be emotionally difficult for me and he will get to deal w/ my cranky butt. Hang in there and utilize the supports you have here and if you have additional supports through your surgery center dive in. I also know that my surgery center offered some supports to spouses as well. As much as you want this to be your journey it will definitely affect those around you as well. Good luck!

Normal????
I'm so sorry. I have no advice just cyberhugs sent your way. Sounds like with all you do life would be exhausting even consuming normal amounts of calories. You rock!
