Dizzy Feeling
I am almost 3 weeks post op and have the same feeling. Dizzy spells. I have not passed out. I drink 7+ glasses of fluids a day so I don't think its dehydration. My urine is not a bright yellow either. At my 1st followup appointment with my PCP 10 days post op, my blood pressure was low. At that time she asked me if i got dizzy when I stood up and I wasn't having the spells at that time. I meet with my surgeon and I will be bringing up this issue. I've noticed the more calories I get in a day, the better I feel. Its hard because my post op diet is very strict. I'm only allowed 3 meals a day. No snacking, and a Protein shake is a meal not a liquid. My shakes are only allowed of 4 ounces as well. Very strict so I have been struggling to get over 250 calories a day. Very low. I do not take any blood pressure meds, but I have a feeling that I will be prescribed some to increase my blood pressure. I also haven't started my Vitamins yet except my B12 per there guidelines. I'm sure once I start up again, I will start feeling better.

Sleeved May 31st and Feeling Great
Liquid in, liquid out lol. My first BM was on Friday. It has been pure diaherra. Several times a day. And yes my a-hole hurts and burns. I will talk to my NP tomorrow about maybe taking some imodium soon. I should be switching to purees shortly so it should get better. Each day I have been going less and less.

Sleeved May 31st and Feeling Great
Hello Everyone! I finally am on the losers bench. I was sleeved Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah Wisconsin. My lead surgeon was Dr. Raymond Georgeon but they also have a second surgeon in the OR and Dr. Kevin Wasco was the second surgeon. I am feeling absolutely great! I am only 25 years old and I think I have my youth on my side. The second day was the worst and since then I have felt great! I was up doing several laps around the 6 floor the day of surgery and have been walking and sipping since. You can follow my journey on YouTube: Clear liquids yesterday. I do sip all day long and get about 8 ounces in an hour. This was my very first hospital experience and I have to say I am so thankful everything went so well. My bougie was a size 40 so that scares me a little bit that it might be too big. My swelling has gone down and I don't feel much pain or discomfort anymore. Dr. Wasco told me they like to use a bougie larger then a 32 because there is less swelling and complications. Maybe that is why I'm doing so well. Hopefully once I start mushies I can start feeling restriction because at this point I don't feel anything. Dr. Wasco also told me that a 40 is not much larger then a 32 and I shouldn't worry because it will work. I guess I just still have that fear that this will be another failed attempt at weight loss. Only time will tell. I just feel like I'm doing to well at this point which scares me that its not going to work. Once again only time will tell. Thank you all for your support. I am really on top of things on my YouTube so if you feel like following my journey please subscribe to my page. Thank you!

Calling all May Sleevers!
Was sleeved in the 31st! Feeling pretty good. Watch my YouTube videos for updates! Yay to all of us May Sleevers! Were finally on the losers bench!

What size bougie did they use?
Thanks for all the replies everyone. After speaking with the second surgeon in the room, I was assured that they do a very tight 40. Right along the bougie. This is so I have less swallowing issues and less foamies. Things of that nature. I have faith that I will lose the weight and I can use this tool and get amazing results. It's just when I heard 40 I got so scared that it was way bigger then a 32. According to my surgeon and the second surgeon in the room, they both said my sleeve looks like the best the ever performed. My insides were clean and easy to work with. If that's the case, I hope I heal fast and start losing like crazy! LOL... thank you all for your support!

What size bougie did they use?
Hello, I was sleeved yesterday. I'm so excited to finally be on the other side. I was just told this morning that my surgeon used a size 40 bougie! I'm so scared that my surgery won't work. I'm thinking a 40 holds about 4 to 6 ounces of food. That sounds like so much! What size bougie did your surgeon use, when was your surgery, and how much weight have you lost? I'm so scared that my sleeve is to big!

Contraception After Surgery
This is all so very interesting. I will need to talk to my NP about all this. I was on the depo for almost 2 years and I gained about 80 pounds. Add depression Meds into the mix and it was a disaster waiting to happen. I was then on the pill taking 3 months on 1 week off so only 4 periods a year. It was great. Now I had to stop my pill because of surgery and you all got me wondering if I should even start up again. hmmm....

Contraception After Surgery
Why is birth control bad after surgery? Am I missing something? I was told I could start my birth control again 1 month after surgery.

Swimming--anyone know the wait time after surgery?
I asked that question today to my surgeon and N.P. I was told 4 weeks or until your incisions are completely healed.

Calling all May Sleevers!
Oh, just rub it in... lol... We got 9.5 inches here in Green Bay. Sure feels like its going to go from Winter to Summer with no Spring. Its crazy. I work in Appleton and love it way more then Green Bay. Feels like there is so much more to do, and Appleton is growing more and more every day. My surgery is May 31st and I'm getting very excited, I am also having lots of fears as it gets closer. But I can't wait either way!

Fears! Need your Help!
Thank you for your responses. I know I WILL NOT CANCEL surgery because of my fears. I just still can't seem to get over them. I had a support group meeting last night and the Head RN that works on the surgery floor faciliates them and I asked him.... will I get something for my anxeity as soon as I walk into those doors because I know I will freak out., and of course he said whatever I want... just ask.... lol.... I have never been in a hospital before. The worst that has ever happend to me was a broken ankle once and dental work. I just have fears being a NEWBIE to the hospital. No children so not even labor or anything like that. .... One day at a time I guess.... And I still don't get how I'm going to be able to eat fruit. I try to stay under 60 grams of carbs a day on this pre-op and I had an orange yesterday that had 22 grams of carbs. Add in carbs from cheeses and vegetables and I'm at my 60. Its really tough!

Fears! Need your Help!
Hello Everyone, I have been on this site for quite some time now and I was going to be having surgery as a self pay April 15, 2010. That got cancelled due to lack of family support and now will be having surgery on May 31, 2011 using UHC and my surgery will be covered 100%. It is starting to get close and I am now having fears about getting the surgery. Fears I have never had before. I need help especially from all you post-op peeps out there. There are 3 major issues that keep coming up. 1. I have never had good luck. I mean seriously if something could go wrong in my life for my husband and myself it has. No joke... I won't go into detail about this but believe me when I say. I have horrible luck. Due to history with luck, I keep having this fear that I will be a statistic. By this I mean, I will be one of those who either, A) Dies B has a leak or C) has some other really bad complication to add me to the statistics of the surgery! I can't get over this feeling... I know my surgeon is very experienced and he is also the number 1 trauma surgeon at the hospital I am going to, but I just keep having these fears that its going to be me! 2. No diet has eve worked! Never! I have been on the pre-op diet since last July. Low Carb, High Protein, and have only lost 9 pounds. My second fear is that the surgey won't work. I will lose some weight during the liquid and mushy phase but after that.... no more will come off. No matter what I do. Small portions, excersise, I have never lost weight so why would the surgery be any different. I especially can't get over this one! I've tried everything... and I know I will only be able to eat small amounts, but I have done portion control diets and never lost. How is this going to be different. 3. I'm afraid I will never ever in my life be able to eat the things I enjoy ever again. I am not talking about Cookies, and chips, and ice cream, etc. I have never been one of those girls. Really and I'm not lying. I'm the fruits and veggies girl. I love my apples, and bananas, and grapes, and pineapple, and the list goes on and on. Lately because of my pre-op diet I have giving in and falling off the diet. I do really good all day and then at the end of the day just want something and i tell myself I can't have that apple because of the carbs... and then... I go get fast food and chocolate instead. I never ever used to do this. Now for some reason I think I can't have the good stuff like my fruit so instead I go get even worse stuff! I'm worried that after surgery i will never be able to eat my fruit because there are to many carbs in them, or never be able to have a small piece of chocolate once every 3 months and because of this I have been doing really bad now on my pre-op diet. I have about 2 weeks until I have to be full on this diet low carb and high protein before surgery. My surgeon does not do a liquid diet. For all of you post-op, please tell me I will be able to eat fruit again after surgery. Maybe not right away, but maybe after hitting goal. I'm having a really hard time these past 2 days... With all these fears... I could really use some advice from all of you! I love this site! Thanks!

Calling all May Sleevers!
I'm almost not a May sleever anymore! My surgeons office emailed me yesterday to tell me that the two surgeons will be out on May 24th (MY SURGERY DATE) at a symposium! WTF! She just found that out yesterday morning so now has to reschedule a bunch of patients! My surgery was rescheduled for Tuesday May 31st! I know its only one week later..... but I'm so tired of this game I have been playing... they have changed 3 of my pre-op appointment times already! I just want to get on the other side and start losing already! Okay... Sorry for venting..... I am so glad to have this site to go to... and in times like this.... have other people out there who understand! So, I am still a May sleever.... but just barely! 61 days until surgery!

So frustrated
You wouldn't happen to be from WI, going through Midwest Bariartric Solutions would you? They had the same thing for me.8 week workshop that was recommended. I did go, and got my info sent to insurance but I stayed on top of everything staying in contact weekly. I have to say the workshop was interesting and I learned a lot. I had a lot of hoops also, 7 months of NUT appts, psych eval, buy its all worth it in the end. I feel so much more prepared and ready. Everything was submitted for me and approved. My surgery is 5/24/11. Just stay strong. Sometimes the hoops and wait are worth it.

Good luck getting everything submitted. Hope you get a decision soon!

Calling all May Sleevers!
Congrats on your surgery date. I think were all a little scared and worried but also excited. Self pay or not....

Relative newbie to this site.
Diane, Haven't heard from you.... how did your surgery go? There are a few other people going through Dr. K that are talking in the thread "Anyone from Wisconsin". They were asking if anyone had the surgery with Dr. Kemmerling. Maybe you could give them some information when you have time. I hope your surgery went well! Hope to hear from you! Kara
