    Slow losing due to diabetes?

I am a slow loser and my diabetic meds was the issue. I was on an insulin pump. And my a1c dropped to7.6 then the weight lost slow down and it went to 10.8. Now the weight is coming down at a fast rate since I started taking oral meds. I don't take metformin because of the side affects but I take Invokana and it has been doing the job my a1c has gone down to 8.0 with a month and will be taking blood again. I went from 220 to 182 within a month average is 30 pound a pound a day.

    Secret sleever

Hi this is a choice you need to be comfortable with. I have only told the same people in my life every one else I told I had some made up problem. I don't regret it because I did not want people judging me or watch king me eat. I did not reach my goal in a year but am on a weight lost now. I have lost weight at a slow rate. I don't have much to lose but I didn't want any negative feed back from anyone. You are the only one who will know who to tell and who not to tell. I will pray that you get the sign you need to make that decision
  3. Well I am so happy about the changes in me. Even though I have had a ruff time losing the weight I am finally losing it quickly. I once weight 350 lbs and was not happy with myself. Went to a GYN doctor and he told me that I was diabetic. I was able to lose 100 labs. I have struggled with this for a long time going down to 180 lbs and then gaining it back. Now I was 265 when I had my sleeve, with in six month I went down to 204 lbs. Then I gain 16 lbs. This has been a long journey but I am happy I have not given up. Even having a lot of negatives around me I have managed to come out on top. I am Happy to say my goal weight for my body size and shape is 150. I am now 188 lbs.
  4. LadyK44 I am glad that I wrote this because three years out and still have not reach my goal is the point I need to make. The surgery is the best thing I ever did and I encourage all to do it once they have tried everything I WA then all to see that it is not easy for everyone and that some times it is going to take longer than you think. But I stuck with it. I know I will be there soon and it will be the best for me. Because I did this for me. Just stick with it you will get there too.

  6. Hey bronx new yorkers I have joined the sleeved club. I was sleeved on 4/11/12 and everything went great according to doctors. I wanted to get out the bed about 3pm and want to drink water but had to wait that was Thursday in the am. Now Thursday afternoon I made a bad turn and felted really sick and could not drink anything I could not even lay down. So I got worried and the doctors did too. I was kept longer and sent for a CT and 2 nebs. I was off the pain killer early because I was so ichy. Turns out that I had a running nose and as it feel to the back of my throat it may it hard for me to cough and it also caused a painful coughing attack. I was just taking tylenol the first night and had a hard time. As for today I am drinking 4 - 6 oz of clear and i crushed the vicodin because of the painful coughing. My husband brought me some sugar free cough drops that is also helpful for the cough. Finally I don't regret it I am doing good. TMI sorry I past gas like crazy and finally went poop. lol calling doctor's office for my after surgery appts.
  7. Hanes have good ones
  8. I made three years in April and I was a slow loser. But the problem were due to complication after the sleeve. The doctors worked hard to find out what the complications were and help me fix them. Now I am back on track.
  9. I am in NYC and I am a three years vet if you want we can be buddies. I know exactly how you feel at this time. I went thru the same thing. It is also taking me a long time to reach my goal t I am getting there.

I started this journey with a lot of hope and dreams and it feels good to finally see then come to life. Failing

Sometimes people lose slower than other. Don't be disappointed about not losing as much weight as you would like because at one point you stop losing on the scale and start losing inches from your body. I am one of those slow loser and I am always talking about losing weight. Every goal or mile stone will lead to you end goal.
  12. I too am three years out and still have not reach my goal. In addition have gained a lot of other health issue. But I want you to remember that you did not gain the weight in one night. So please don't give up I haven't I will get to my goal soon. I started walking again and I do weights at home in a chair. I dance while I clean. I have lost 4 lbs. this week. Good luck I will keep you in my prays
  13. I watch the show on TLC, My 600lb life: Where are they now?. Just like the first time when I saw Penny's story, It made me mad.How dare you waste the doctor and weight lost clinic's time. I had my surgery in 2011 and have been on a slow weight lost. I make no excuses. I would lose more weight faster if I move more. I know this so I move as much as I can and I am careful. I don't let the fact that I had some illness set me back. As I watch this week I am so angry and sad for Penny. Since I recorded it I will use it to make sure I stay losing it. When you chose to do this weight lose surgery you really need to find out why you eat so much. Seeing a therapist before and after is very important. Penny need to do this because the doctor does not have to tell us that she is full of it, it is very clear. Later going walking.
  14. Okay, it is going on two years since I had my surgery and I became a gassy person. I get even if I sip Water. I some times feel bad for the people on the bus because when it comes out the other end and it does all the time it is smelly. I can't stop it. I talk I burp. I walk I fart. I take GasX or Beano nothing. As I typed this question I burped about 20 times and they were not small one. Please tell me this is going to stop. Someone Please
  15. Well we all have our stories and with them we have success and failures. My is failure but it will be a success soon. I started out not knowing how sick I truly was. I had a stroke and 3 TIA which are like mini strokes, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Hypo- thyroid, A blockage in the vein in my brain and a ton of minor problems. After surgery I had a bad infection that was caused by the hospital staff and a Minor heart attack. With all this I do not regret having this surgery. So remember that we are all not a like and the horror stories are not every bodies. I did loss some hair but it was a lack of vit. Also some of the stories are about people not being honest with themselves and have problems afterwards. Good luck I hope it helps.

    Smells

Even though I have lost little bit of weight I now have a small amount of excess skin and have had some issue with it. I and getting a smell and I have told the doctors about it but have not found a way to get it under control. I am always asking my husband does he smell me and do I smell. I have used gold bond power, a power that the doctor gave me, deodorant and perfumed creams. I also take a shower at least 3 times a day if I can and when I use the bathroom I carry a wash cloth and body wash in my purse to wash under my skin flips. I look like and egg with tooth picks for legs and arms, with front saddle bags. I don't look fat I look pregnant. Working on getting back on track so I can have body sculpting by the time I am 50 years old What works for you to smell?
  18. I was 41 when I had surgery, but do not regret the surgery what I regret was waiting so long to get it done. And what has happen to me since I got it because I was high risk to begin with it.. I did not expect to have so many problems. I had the same issue but I jump in and I float to the top. You will too. But make sure you have a good support at home. Make sure they all know you can't do this alone. I have been alone thru this and have found it very hard and feel of the wagon and gain some weight. Have an exercise buddy who will push you no matter what. Your start now should be to get smaller plates it makes it easy when people are serving you. Little changes here and there will help you and as for asking about regret well you will never know if that is the way you will feel because my regrets can never be yours. You will never move forward if you keep looking backwards. Good luck and much success
  19. I was never told to stop my insulin. I was put on an insulin pump because I am not a type 1 or type 2 every time I am tested I test both. But that is a different story. I did surgery to help put my diabetes in remission but I did not have all the facts. If you have diabetes for a long time like I did it may not help it. I also was told to bring my supplies to surgery and they monitored my sugars until I was fully awake to do it my self. As for what diet I was on I did liquid diet for two weeks and then slowly did liquid for three weeks then puree for two weeks and then moved into solids. I must check my sugars because I sometime go to low. My sister had full bypass and she put her diabetes in remission a month out of her surgery. And it is important to test sugars before exercising. I also was followed by Endo to ensure I make the correction I need as I moved on in my journey.

    Slowest Weight Loss Ever!

I like your name because that is the way I see myself and for felling frustrate I understand that feeling too My total weight lose for my first year was 50 lbs and in my second year I gain 16 lbs. I track everything and every medical person I see tells me that I am the cause. But they don't tell me what I am doing wrong so I can correct. Just hang on in there you will be a success. As for I am going back to basic. I am going back to a liquid diet for two weeks and then I will then go soft then go back on week two of solids. I will walk every day after all meals. I will prayer that this will work for. But again keep asking the question and you will reach that goal sooner than you know it
  21. I am looking for a buddy to exercise with, walk with, talk to. I need person who is a mom or dad and married or in a relationship. I am looking to get back on track. And not walk it alone because it does not work.
  22. I was such a high risk that some times makes me think I made the wrong choice in having this surgery. I have no excuses why it has not worked for me. I have asked my self if I had to do it all over again would I? My answer is always yes. Since I had the surgery I have had one set back after another. It seems to be that I am a freak. if there is a one percent of some thing happening I am that one percent. After a slow and steady weight lost until after my year mark. I started to gain weight and now I am sad and upset with myself. I look at everything I am doing to see what I am doing wrong and still no answer, I go to the doctor and the Physiotherapist and still no answer but a lot of blame that I am not doing the right things. getBut how you want me to exercise more, cut out all sweets, drink more water, and see a therapist well I am doing all this things, but no change. I just cry and feel bad I really want to lose at least a 100 lbs. I am a freak and failure why can I do it like so many others before me.
