  1. OKey Dokey... This is IT. Check in on Monday. We're on our way. Can't wait to get started. Let's support each other and Celebrate each other's successes.
  2. Labrys here... Hi all... Well I'm going to my 6 month appointment at So. San Francisco in two weeks. I want to be in the 170's for that appointment so I gotta get on the stick. Anyone here gonna be there? Here's an update on my situation. I recently decided not to sell my house, so I gotta unpack all those boxes etc. It'll keep me active. I can definitely feel a loss in my clothing. It's been a while since I was in the 180's.
  3. Labrys here.... To be truthful, my attention has not been on weight loss for the past few weeks. I am in process of selling my home which of course means packing and looking for a new place, Without going into too much detail, some things have changed and I will be taking the house off the market. Now that it is decided, I'll be doing some exercise etc and hopefully the weight will begin to fall again. I'm down about 3 pounds since my last post. Best to everyone.
  4. I am 9 months out from surgery. I am having difficulty eating and am feeling that my nutrition is not where it should be. I have had some severe diarrhea since the surgery last June. My question: What's goin' on? Any advice on increasing my appetite? When should I expect the weigh loss to stop?
  5. Labrys here... Just checking in. WTG Jul!! Well, I have not gotten on the scale for a while as I have been in process of selling my home. Got an offer yesterday. I feel as though I may be losing, but still mainly on a plateau. Loving my sleeve. Its difficult not to run up to people who apparently need some help with weight and not take them by the shoulders, shake, and say "Listen to me!" But.... that's not appropriate. I'll tell who in curious and seeking. much love to all of you
  6. Labrys here... Sorry for the absenteeism. I have been on a stall and well, its been difficult to face. But... I am back on wagon sort to speak. It feels good to see some change in my weight. I am being blessed by angels today. Good to see your posts.
  7. Anyone else out there with a September Sleeve???? I got my sleeve on my Birthday, Sept 29. I'm on Stage II foods (full liquids). So far everything is great. My incisions are still a bit sore, but that will pass.

  9. Labrys here... finally Hooray for me! I reached my Jan 1 goal. I pretty much out of my clothes. I got a donation from a friend though. I've been working on rehabbing my house; getting it ready for sale. I also just returned from Mississippi and holiday visit with the family. We just love getting together. Anywhooo I need to set my Valentine's day goal. Sorry for the absenteeism, but I'm back in town and have access again to the ole puter.
  10. Labrys here... Away from the scale and out of town so I don't really know anything on the weight loss stat. You folks are such an inspiration to me. This old bird is soooo happy with the weight loss thus far, can't wait to see how all this turns out. My family, who have not seen me in a while were really impressed. I just want to get on with it. I'm wearing clothes from the Goodwill now, as I know they are just stop gap clothes on my way down. I'll check in with some stats when I return home on Jan 5. I have shared some of the holiday fare so we'll see if there is a weight loss or now. For now, just know that the support you all offer is most appreciated and helps keep me focused. I am sooo happy to have found this site and can share my journey with you. Blessed Be.

New Years Day... What will you weight???

Labrys here.... Well, I'm away from home and no access to a scale. I have no idea if I made my goal, but my sense is that I'm a few pounds short of the goal. I'll weigh on Jan. 5 when I return home. I loved having this goal and working for it and I'll join in the Valentine day goal. I really want to lose another 40 - 50 pounds. Big time love and hugs to all of you for your support and example.
  12. Labrys here.... OK ok... I few days late in posting. I have been busy rehabing my house in anticipation for sale. You know, sweat equity. I'm down just a pound but I am pleased. All my clothing are getting loose, and some are no longer wearable. Here's the scoop. HW 238 SW 230 Last Week 197.5 This Week 196.5 My family has not seen me since the surgery. I'll visit with them the week after Christmas. I hope they are as pleased as I am. This old body is still shedding the weight allbeit somewhat slower than some others, but that its coming off is the important thing. All of you are doing sooo well. I love the support we give each other. Big time success energy being sent along the way to you all.
  13. Labrys here.. TA-DAH I made it to Onerderland!! HW: 238 SW: 230 Last Week: 200 This Week: 197.5 I'm a doin' the happy dance!
  14. Labrys here... this thingy is a labrys --> (>|<) Double bladed axe said to have been used by the amazons and Greek menoans. It has come to be a symbol of woman power. Anywho... HW 238 SW 230 -- Cherice you're a week ahead of me but we weighed the same at surgery Last Week 204.5 This Week 200 Ooooo, that onederland is just over the horizon. Having the same weight for a while is not fun, but it is comforting to know that it will all be just a faint memory because we will drop those old unwanted pounds. Here is a suggestion. Picture yourself at you slim goal weight and eliminate words like stall and stuck in regard to weight loss. Ok, climbing down off soap box. We all understand.

New Years Day... What will you weight???

Just wanted to post on this topic so it will go to the forefront. Let's all keep working for our goals. I'm gonna take long walk after Thanksgiving today. Thanksgiving at the Beach with lots of friends! Blessings to everyone and here's hoping we all reach our goals. YAHOO!
  16. Labrys here... I'd just like to say that I am sooo glad to be part of this group. LMD, you are the bomb. Thanks for all the support. Our journey together is helpful. All of us will have plateaus and stalls, but we will all lose, too. Its good to read all of your posts and know that all is progressing as it should. We are a great group. Thanks to all who post here. Heck, even if your surgery was not in september, join the love and support of this group. Many many hugs and best wishes for a joyful Thanksgiving.
  17. Ok... all you old pros... that is people more than 4 weeks out. What the heck do you have for Breakfast??? I sometimes have eggbeaters but that is gettin' really old. Any Protein rich good stuff out there? Help
  18. Labrys here.... Okey Dokey... here's the scoop I dropped about a pound and half this week. My food intake needs some attention and my fluids are not where they need to be. I'll pay better attention this week. This is Thanksgiving week. It will be good to have the dinner and be with friends and family. And its good to know that I will not over stuff myself. I'm rockin' this sleeve. Last week: 206 This week: 204.5 Look out onederland, I'm rollin' into town!
  19. Sometimes when we buy a big ticket item that we have been planning for and excited about we start to feel that maybe that was not such a good choice. Its common and called buyer's remorse. That's may be close to what you are feeling now about the sleeve. A friend of mine says the the best approach to life is to always make the "Least Possible Sacrifice". When really think about the negatives of carrying lots of extra weight and the positives of being leaner and healthier you will realize that you have made the least possible sacrifice. A healthier you is valuable, much more valuable that extra pounds. The least sacrifice you could make is the jettison those pounds. You will be able to enjoy all the foods you as before your surgery, you just won't want a lot. It is true that some foods will not be as nearly appealing to you. You will find foods that you enjoy all the was as you lose those unwanted pounds. My daughter had the surgery a bit over a year ago and has discovered a new life. She has a new relationship and is much more active with her friends. She also eats most anything she wants, just in much smaller portions. I had surgery Sept 29. There are still some foods that don't go down well for me but as time passes my stomach and system will adjust. So will yours. You have made a wonderful, well thought out decision. Its a vote for YOU. Relax, enjoy the ride.
  20. Hey you're doing GREAT. Lots of weight gone... and the good news... its gone forever. The sleeve really really works. It will come off. I know, it never comes off as fast as we want but it's a sleeve, not a magic wand. We'll get there. We are all here to support each other. I believe you will be successful. You gotta believe it too. Take that frustration out with an extra walk around the block. We're rockin and rollin here.
  21. Part of the Dorothy thing is the song in Wizard of Oz, "Somewhere over the Rainbow" as the rainbow flag is a symbol of the gay community. The idea of dancing down the road with good friends, etc. The Witch wrote in the sky, Surrender Dorothy. This sort of suggests that one should not be fighting who they are. Just some thoughts.

  23. Dr. Alami did my surgery. He has been with Kaiser Bariatric for several years so I'm pretty sure he's done many surgeries. He was kind and attentive post surgery. I wanted to go home early but he made sure I was doing well before I left. I have confidence in him. He did the newer procedure on me which has only 2 incisions points, with one being quite small and the larger through the naval. Congratulations on the weight loss and good luck. Let us know how your are doing.
  24. I am just 3 weeks out from surgery. Unfortunately, I had to have a root canal last week. So in addition to the regular medications I take, there are 2x multi Vitamins, 6 Calcium, a B1, and now 3 GIANT antibiotics and some pain pills. What the heck???? I cut the vitamins in half and any other pills that loom large. They sit at the top of my stomach like lead. Ok .... I'm better now. That was just a vent. Any advice???

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Labrys here... Well I'm 63 and had surgery on my 63'd birthday, Sept. 29, 2010. I have not had complications but I do recognize that weight loss for me might be a bit slower. Also, there is the loss of elasticity in skin. I don't care about either of these. The benefits of weight loss, lower blood pressure, diabetes correction, and ease on joints is far more important. I have had knee replacement in both knees. So far I've lost about 30 pounds and lovin' it. I say, life is not over at 60. Go for it to feel better and be healthier.
