  1. I had my surgery October 20th, no complications, have been losing weight steadily so far, at 32 lbs lost. My first fill was 2 weeks ago, and they put in 5 cc's. I did well with that, but noticed that I was getting hungrier more often, and eating more at a sitting so went in for a second fill yesterday, not sure how much they would put in. The nurse put in 1 cc but she had a difficult time getting the needle into the port, and did a lot of jiggling it and moving it around. After, I was able to drink Water fine, but by the time I got home, I was feeling much discomfort in my chest. I was bad, and instead of full liquids, tried a bit of mashed potatoes, and those came back up, and by later in the evening, I was unable to keep even saliva down. I had a very uncomfortable night, with the most pain I have ever been in since the surgery, so I called for an unfill. By 11 am I was able to get a cup of hot tea down, though it took over an hour. I could tell I was getting better, and knew from reading other's posts that the swelling was probably going down, so I wondered if I should wait and not do the unfill. But since it was Friday, and I didn't want to end up in the ER, I decided to go. When they weighed me, I had lost 6 lbs from the day before. She took only 1/2 cc out, and immediately I felt better! I am glad I went and had the adjustment. I was able to eat some Soup this evening and it stayed down, thank God. So now I am wondering, could the swelling have anything to do with her moving the needle around so much, and hitting the side of the port? I just find it surprising that only 1 cc affected me so much.I am now at 5.5 cc's and I am wondering if I will need another fill or not. Has anyone else ever had problems after the person doing their fill couldn't get the needle in?

  3. Yes, I really am going to do it. I am going to jump through all the hoops I need to to get my LapBand surgery. To those of you who may have stumbled on this blog, and of course don't know me, I am married, a mother of three beautiful daughters (two in college, cha ching!) and have run my own business in cosmetics from my home for 19 years. I am a social butterfly, LOVE people, and until I started gaining a ridiculous amount of weight after being diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, I was very active. So far, I've been to my oncologist (who referred me to the Bariatric Program I am going to, and said it would be a good idea to get the weight off since he has watched me struggle and GAIN weight since he began treating me), the bariatric surgeon, who told me I'm a good candidate, and the Psychologist who gave me an exam and set me up with the contingencies I must complete before having surgery. Contingencies! Well, I have to see a shrink 6 times to make sure I'm not psycho, a nutritionist 4 times, and lose 10 lbs, then he will schedule my surgery date. At first, I looked at him and wanted to say, you've got to be kidding, a shrink 6 times?? A nutrionist only 4 times? What does that say about where he thinks I am mentally? Well, whatever it takes. I guess I feel a little fortunate after I got over the disappointment that I had contingencies, that mine are relatively easy to comply with. Shrink? Maybe I'll learn something new about myself. Nutritionist? Now that I have to admit, can't hurt. The 10 lbs? Now that's the tricky one. Tune in next time for my plan on how to get that one done!
