  1. So today is 1 week out from VSG. No regrets yet those first couple of days were horrid. Not painful but trying to choke down enough liquid was a full time task. Read on this site from other posts that hydration was #1 priority which I took seriously first 4 days. Then day 5 I really tried to reach goal of 64 oz, which I am still not getting but I am really close. Used to be able to drink a Big Gulp in a short amount of time ... he he Every day brings a big change, stronger, more capable, moving more easily. Driving now too for short distances. Saw surgeon today, he recommended a shot glass of any liquid every 15 minutes for 8 hours to reach goal for hydration. Still unable to hit protien goal while gagging down Protein shots...how do the rest of you do it?
  2. Thank you for post. I am a side sleeper also and am having difficulty sleeping any way but on my back. Less than 1 week out. I have found sleeping in a recliner helps...yet still, on my back. Anyone else have thoughts? Will I be able to sleep on my side again soon?
  3. Congrats on what seems to be a great recovery. Will be watching your progress with anticipation.
  4. Okay - jitters are coming on. Maybe coming down with a cold or it is hypochondria? Friday come soon.
  5. Thinking of you all today and will be praying for your fast recovery.
  6. Day 7 - So as not to feel so alone - I have read your stories too. We are each incredible people. You and I have overcome what seemed to be impossible. Me, no cheats although I have had so much temptation as we all face. If I am half way there do I give in to a small satisfaction for a HUGE success so close at hand? NO. Shall stay in control and will beat the hunger pains, noisy stomach, the small headaches and weakness. Now the focus is the reality of what can be with my new "tool." Truly the desire is to be healthy, vibrant and easily mobile rather than just stuffed and asking why did I do this...again? No more quick roads to happiness. You give me strength to know I can succeed. Thank you all for your ongoing encourangement. Come soon Sept. 17th (should I break out in song now? hehe)
  7. Hi guys, Today is day 5 and I am doing very well - no cheats. A lot of credit to those of you who have talked me through the first couple of days where yes, I was cranky to say the least. Thank you! Diet is liquid only, with a Protein bar thrown in. I am adapting since this is how I will live for a while after having surgery.
  8. Hi Wedding Planner; My doctor, Dr. Quebbeman told me that one week ahead I had to stop taking any suppliments/herbs of any kind. You should be okay - but if you are truly freaking out, call your doctors office and ask. Also - make yourself feel better and stop today just in case. Let me know what your docs office says.
  9. Hi Wedding Planner; I am on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. 1 of the protien packs they gave me can be made into pudding...nasty pudding I choke down. Thank you for your response. Where are you in process?
  10. Two Steps Back; Thank you, thank you for the words of encouragement. Laughing at your making popcorn but throwing it away - hoping I would have your strength. I am starting fresh today. Hugs to you! ocgal
  11. Anyone struggling on preop diet? Will you share your stories so I do not feel alone? Surgery date is 9/17. Excited but isolated.
  12. Hello determined1; I too have a surgery date of Friday 9/17 and would enjoy having a friend on this journey. Day 2 of preop diet. Still haven't cheated either!:huh0: Best wishes. OCGAL
