  1. Well. A lot different than I expected. It seems my Doctor is not a huge lap band fan anymore and basically said the system is not doing what it was sold to do, 4 years ago when I was banded. Basically I need to use the band for what is really and not what was sold. He then talked to me about a gastric sleeve.....I told him what about in four years when this is no good. I am focused on losing the weight so I will use the band to aid me and not give up. I am checking to see if my new insurance has coverage and if so I may seek another doctor just for a sanity check.

  3. Thanks for the encouragement. I will be going to the doctor in less than 6 hours.
  4. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow for the first time in two years. I have failed miserably by trying to make the almighty dollar at all cost including my health. I have been working and traveling non stop and justified my eating and drinking by the amount of work I was doing. I took customers out all the time and ate what they ate and drank what they drank. I have hit rock bottom and finally made a decision that I thought I had made when I was banded 4 years ago. I decided now it is my time. I have switched jobs and am much happier and now have time for me and my family instead of work work work. I am so embarrassed at how I have failed and need as much support and encouragement as I can get. I have not even told my wife or family I am going to see him because I want to do it for me this time. I called this morning and made my appointment which was a hard first step. The hardest part will be making sure I go tomorrow. Thanks in advance for the comments and feedback.
  5. I was banded just over 2 years ago and at first all went well. The thing I failed to do while going through the process was to take food addiction seriously. I always considered myself a healthy fat guy as all my normal physical test results would come back good every time, what I did not take in to account was my love of food. At first after having the band I thought man I can eat whatever I want and not gain weight and actually lose it....well this worked for some time because my portions were so small. Well then I began to miss the high that goes along with over eating and figured out if I could drink Water while eating I could push more and more down to where I could eat my old portions. I have gained back about 25or so of the 80 lost..... I am in the acknowledgement phase and know that I have a problem. My commute went from 10 minutes to an hour so I do not ever see my doctor because there is no convenience to doing it I tried to fit in with my buddies once again and drank as much as they drank which resulted in eating what they ate Where do I go from here???? Can my band be so stretched out that I can not achieve my results???? I am tired of being the healthy fat guy and want to be the athletic guy as well. I am very active and play outside with my daughter all seasons. I just need to focus and I am hoping the reading this forum will help. Any advice and encouragment would help!
  6. Wow....someone who is feeling the same as I am! I am not alone! I am not sure what to tell you to do as I am also looking for the answer. But everything I have read in the past...says we just have to get back on the horse and ride it out. Good luck!
