  1. Hi I am from Woodbury, NJ..I was banded on April 18, 2011. I went to Pennsylvania Hospital. I actually just had a fill today it was my 2nd. I have lost 37 lbs since I started this journey in December 2010. As long as you remember that the band is only a tool and not a cure all and your willing to accept that it will be 90% you 10%band that will get you to your goal then you will be successful. Please keep in touch it's nice to get to know bandsters in our area. Good luck with your journey.

    Day O : I am banded!

Use a heating pad and take gas x chewable..I got lucky..right before I went in I asked my Dr. to use as little gas as possible that I heard it is the worst part after..After surgery he talked to me and told me that if all his banding surgeries went as smooth as mine he would do them all day long. I was only in surgery for half an hour and he said he didn't need much gas..thank God..now for me when the numbing wore off around the port..Wow..is that sore..but I had my surgery on Monday 4/18 and today I was out and about running errands..Good luck and keep me posted as I will do the same.

    Alcohol Consumption

Hi, I was just banded on monday so I have not had alcohol yet of course but I did look into it because there are times when I would also like to have a glass of wine..my Dr. said it is fine in moderation. One or two glasses of wine but no beer..I have read where people have had vodka and cranberry and bloody mary's. So if you want to have a glass of wine it should be fine enjoy..treat yourself for a job well done so far. Good luck.

    This is HARD!!!!

Wow I really love this website...you all have such wonderful words and we all care about each other...I will be banded on April 18th...I am almost one week in to my pre op diet of 1000 calories a day...which isn't as bad as some pre op diets..I am trying all the different kinds of shakes out there so I can stock up..so far I'm impressed with the Isopure drinks...I like the grape and blue raspberry which are 40 grams of protein in 20 oz bottles 160 calories but no sugars no aspartame...you all are an inspiration and I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you..

    Almost there:)

Hello, well I started this journey in November 2010 and three weeks ago everything was complete and submitted to the insurance company for approval..they just came back with approval for the lap band as outpatient. They say it is not a medical necessity to stay overnight in the hospital. My surgeon's office is appealing. My Dr. will not do it as outpatient. Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions of what I can do to help speed up the decision?
