  1. I am 2 days post op. I am so sick of broth and gatorade and juices. I want some cream of wheat so bad!!! I don't know if I can make it until Tuesday!!! Ugh!!!!!
  2. i can feel mine, but I can't see it. Mine is in my upper left side of my chest though. My doctor believes its less distracting and problematic there. It is a little unnerving to feel it though. I don't know what I was expecting, but I don't guess I thought about that part.
  3. I've seen other topics on here where people are saying its normal or even typical for people to gain weight the first few days or weeks after surgery. I've lost 7 pounds since my surgery on Tuesday. It was 2 pounds yesterday morning and then 5 pounds this morning. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Not taking in enough fluid, etc? I know everyone may be different, but I'm just scared of doing something wrong. I definitely hope its a sign of more to come, but I wanted someone else's opinion.
  4. My surgery was yesterday. I don't think I'm getting a full 64 oz of fluid a day. But my dr said to only drink 1 oz every 5 minutes.....thats tough for me! And my chest is still killing me. I feel like I need to burp so bad!! It's so frustrating!! Anyone else having this?
  5. Hey Brian...thanks for the story! I feel encouraged hearing what you said. I am 6'2, 340 as of yesterday (the day I received my band). I really want to be around the 200 pound mark in a year. I keep seeing people talk about minimal weight loss so far and it's made me nervous. I want instant results of course. lol. Can you tell me what you've done to be so successful? Congrats and thank you again!!!! Steven
  6. Just curious....where are your ports located? I know most doctors I think put them in the abdomen somewhere. My doctor prefers to put them in the left side of your chest, just below your shoulder. Mine is about halfway between my shoulder and my nipple. Just curious if this made a difference on what some of you are seeing. I just got my band yesterday so I'm new to all of this. I feel better asking lots of questions now so hopefully I won't endure some of the same things. lol. Thanks!
  7. I had my band put in yesterday. When I weighed this morning, I had lost 2 pounds. I hadn't thought of gaining weight. That doesn't make sense to me b/c you definitely haven't eaten I"m sure. Did you weigh on the same scale both times? If not, that could be a difference. Just a thought.
  8. ok thanks. I think I'll try the heating pad. My stomach is really hurting.
  9. Thanks Heather. I was confused about the walking thing. My post op instructions said to take it easy, but my nurse, who has a band, told me to walk as much as I can. Thanks for that advice. It's after midnight, but I think I need to go walk now. lol. I've slept all day so i'm not tired right now.
  10. So I had my band put in today. Everything went really well. I don't feel sick or anything, but my chest and upper stomach hurt really bad!!! Can someone tell me if this is probably just the gas? How long does this tightness and pain last? I'm hungry and there seem to be alot more food commercials on tv than usual. lol. Any post-op advice any of you have would be appreciated. Anything you guys have experienced that might make my journey and others reading this easier. Thanks!!
  11. Update....just wanted to let you all know I made it through surgery ok. In alot of pain in my chest an stomach right now. I guess its the gas. Elizabeth.....how did yours go?? Thanks again for all of your's support!!
  12. Thank you Elizabeth and good luck to you as well!!!!
  13. Please remember me in your prayers. I go in for my surgery at 7:30 am. Spent today buying all of my "outstanding" liquids I'll be drinking for the first week...lol. I'm not nervous about the surgery yet, but I'm sure anxiety will hit later tonight and in the morning. I truly hope tomorrow is the beginning of a new life for me!!!
  14. My doctor also places the port below the shoulder. He told me most doctors don't do it there, but he has found that it is more comfortable there and more easily accessible.
  15. I didn't have to be tested before my insurance company approved me. My doctor does something that I thought was pretty clever. He has a release form you can sign that says when he does my band procedure and he see's a hiatus hernia, he will go ahead and fix it as well. Rather than having two different surgeries he does them both at the same time. I thought it was a good idea.
  16. Did you say you were having your band removed? If so, just curious, would your insurance covers a removal if it was causing you pain, etc?
  17. Thank you all for your comments!! I completely understand the part about the "last meal". I've said it a couple of times already. I know that I am extremely unhealthy right now. I stay depressed and don't want to go anywhere but work and home. The one thing I find comfort in is food. I look forward to coming home and eating dinner.....usually fast food. I know this is why I am in the shape I am in. I am like you Kalipso2...I am not much of a vegetable eater. I enjoy most Beans and I love love love potatoes. I'm a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy I guess you could say. So the diet I'm on now is a sugar busters which means no potatoes, no white Pasta or rice, no sugar, no fried foods, no white bread or anything with flour. Its almost like the Atkins diet. The doctor said I had to do this for 2 weeks before surgery to reduce the size of my liver so it would be easier to put the band in. So the couple of times I've slipped so far I'm thinking "crap, now they wont be able to put the band in". It's so frustrating. I want to eat what I can now b/c I know after the surgery things will definitely change...but I guess I can't. Thank you Reverie and Dellman for your comments. It really helped. I"m still very nervous and having doubts, but I know my life is depending on a change of some kind. I just keep asking myself..."are you sure you can't do this on your own? Can't you just exercise and diet on your own.". Now, realistically I don't think I can because the only diet I was ever successful with was one where I took Phentermine and some other drugs. I lost 80 pounds in about 7-8 months and I've put it all back on, plus 20!! I think I have my healthy brain and my fat brain beating the hell out of each other. I just hope the healthy brain can win. lol Thank you all again!!!
  18. So I"m 13 days away from surgery. I've only been on my pre-op diet for two days and I'm already doubting whether I can do this or not. I'm eating turkey and grill chicken and i'm sick of it.....already!! I'm already saying to myself..."I'll never get to have another McDonalds cheeseburger. I'll never have fries again. I'll never get to really enjoy food again." Can someone help me? Give me some advice on how to get this out of my head!!!
  19. My surgery date is March 15 in Albany, Georgia. I go for all of my pre-work on Feb. 28. I'm assuming they will give me my pre-op diet instructions on that date???
  20. I just got my surgery date yesterday...March 15. I am going in for all of my pre-op test on Feb. 28. Is this when the Dr. will tell me what he wants me to do for a pre-diet? The nurse didn't tell me anything about a pre-diet, but a friend who already has the lapband said I need to start it 3 weeks out. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing!!
