  1. Well I ended up gaining 10 lbs and then tried again, got approved no problem. They also switched my stats from a medium frame to a small frame. It looks like mid-March they are switching to the BMI method, that will be much easier.
  2. Just means that you have one small incision instead of the regular 5. They just started doing them in November and I got lucky to have one of the doctors that does it. This is Dr Simpson's website: http://www.drsimpson.net/07_surgery_stories%20%28SS%29/1_SS_1/Single-incision-lap-band-surgery/Single-incision-lap-band-surgery-1.html
  3. I'm taking 2 weeks, using short term disability so that it's paid time off. Would like to be able to eat more than just liquids before I go back to work.
  4. I'm there with you, surgery at 830 on the 8th. Didnt realize that was Fat Tuesday, but seems like a great day. =)
  5. Got chicken and vegetable broth, 4Ever Fit Mango protein powder, Low-Carb SlimFast, and some Jay Robb protein powder. Stocked up on Yogurt and veggie baby food for after the liquid restriction.
  6. I would say anyone that would decide to splurge on Vanilla shakes after surgery wouldnt be very serious about losing weight and being healthy. I've always had great luck on HCG before (the real stuff, not the homeopathic), helps me not to be hungry and I was able to continue to lose weight for 30-45 days and still have energy. I mentioned it to my Dr and he got really upset, saying it was just a placebo, but I can tell the difference and completely disagree.
  7. I have surgery scheduled for March 8th with Dr Simpson. I live in Surprise as well so probably wont be making it to any of the support meetings. Do you know how many CCs the band is that Dr S uses? How was the recovery? I saw a post saying that those with the single incision had a longer recovery time.
  8. I'm a little scared now, I'm scheduled for the single incision on March 8th, have 2 weeks off scheduled. I sit at a desk all day but already have problems with my back hurting.
  9. I was just told not to eat anything after midnight, the night before surgery.
  10. Congratz, what's important is what you want. If you're happy and healthy at a size 8, I say go for it. I don't even remember the last time I was that size, maybe in 3rd grade? I'm 5'5" and got down to a size 8 when I was around 160 lb, but that only lasted a few weeks before I gained it back.
  11. Have you talked to your Dr about it? It doesnt sound like your band is working correctly, but if you don't say anything and make him fix it, the Dr probably wont.
  12. I'm scheduled for March 8th and the Dr didn't mention a pre-op diet. I'm in Phoenix, and am doing the single incision.
  13. My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday, a week from today and my Dr hasn't given me a Pre-Op Diet. Has anyone else not been required to do the pre-op diet?
  14. I have Lab Band scheduled for March 8th, was supposed to be today but the schedule filled up before they got my insurance letter. I didn't think I would get approved, so I lost 10 lbs and then had to gain it back before the insurance would approve me. After a week of eating crap, my body was hating me, had horrible stomach pains, throwing up was the only thing that made me feel better. All of my life, I've fought with weight loss. I finally found HCG, which was the only thing that seemed to work for me, but the last 2 years, I've lost it and then once I started eating carbs and sugar again I gain it all back plus 20 lbs more. I'm now at my heaviest, sitting around 240 lbs and I've had enough. I know that it will just be a tool, but I'm hoping that It'll be just enough to help me lose the weight and be able to keep it off for good. After my few weeks of liquids, I'm considering going back on the HCG to boost my weight loss. Has anyone tried the HCG diet after LB and did it work for you? I hate that they are pushing low fat after surgery. I know that eating low fat is bad for me and not healthy. Anything low or no fat has sugar and carbs to make up for the fat, and carbs are my #1 enemy. They want me to drink 2 glasses of skim milk a day, would rather take a calcium supplement or drink 2%. If you're still reading, thank you, and any help, suggestions, support is appreciated.
  15. I'm 5'4" and 245 lbs with a BMI of 42, my doctor submitted my paperwork on last Friday and I was declined today. They said they needed more documentation, and that I dont have the comorbs that I need. I thought that as long as my BMI was 40, I didn't have to have comorbs, but it sounds like they are still using the 200% rule. I have back problems, high cholesterol, depression and have to take sleeping pills to sleep at night, but none of that counts. The Metropolitan weight chart leaves so much to guess at, Small frame is 114-127, so 200% would be 228 and medium is 124-138 or 248. I'm kind of inbetween a small and medium frame, my fingers do overlap slightly around my wrist. Do I really have to gain 3 lbs and then have them resubmit the paperwork? 5' 4" 114-127 124-138
  16. My dr has the Orientation online, so took the 45 minutes to watch it before my Appt, I got an appt the next day and he submitted my paperwork.
