Obstacle 2: Sleeve Prices Vary
I live in San Antonio and had my surgery with Dr. Almanza. Things people say are unfounded but keep coming up. I had my surgery on the 14th of March had no complications. As a matter of fact there were 7 people who also had surgery with Dr. Almanza on that very day so if he was so bad why would he still have so much business. I had great care while there. Don't let the negative comments scare you off. These comments are coming from people who have never had surgery with Dr. Almanza. Anyone can speak of second hand knowledge it's first and knowledge you should be concerned with.

If I were you I would go anyway and have the procedure done. If you have no one to check you out what usually happens is they will keep you for observation then release you.

Constant burping
Does anyone else suffer from constant burping? It is so disgusting. Anytime I eat something heavy or a large bite I burp uncontrollably and loudly it's so gross. When I started with full liquids it increased. What can I do to treat it?

Bouncing between 208-211
I'm on my 3rd week post op. I had to hid the scale because it was driving me crazy. I was weighing on a good day 208, then the next day 211 then 210. How could I possibly be gaining weight if I intake between 600-700 calories. I have a protein shake with 52 grams of protein eat eggs for breakfast as well as greek yougurt for lunch. Which allows me to get in all my protein. In addition, to 60 ounces of water now sometimes I don't get the full amount of water in or protein I can admit to that. It's just hard while working drinking and eating are the last things on my mind as well as after work I coach I may drink water during that time if I remember to bring some. Point being I really want to get over this hump and hit onderland please advise me of what to do. Thanks in Advance.

Mexico or Bust!!!
I can tell you from experience you're not going to want to lift anything for at least a week. Then after you start to heal you can increase the things you do. But I didn't do much around the house when I returned home because you still have stitches in and if you do something to strenuous you do feel the pain. So you want to take it easy that first week at least. And as far as lifting your daughter I wouldn't do that for 2 weeks. But you'll still be able to feed and change her when you get home you'll just need assistance with lifting. The pain is very minimal after two days of course right out of surgery you're in pain and all you want is pain meds and to sleep through it. Upon your departure you'll be fine I felt like my normal self I even did some yard work four days post op. I'm eating Soups only that's all I can stand. I would get someone to help me around the house for a week for sure.

Mexico or Bust!!!
I had my surgery with Dr. Almanza at Jerusalem hospital. I paid 4500 for the sleeve on 3-14-2011. The staff and doc were all wonderful. You stay one days in the hospital then you are moved to the guest house where you spend two days at with around the clock care. I went to Tijuana alone and i was fine coming and going back by myself.

Wil I ever be able to eat and drink at the same time again?
Those of you who have not had the surgery don't fear if you do it once you will learn quickly how it's not a good idea to eat and drink at the same time. I drunk some water maybe 10 minutes after a meal once I was so bloated it felt like I was going to burst. It didn't take me long to realize that it wasn't a great idea.

Gastric Sleeve Plication
I had the sleeve done by Dr. Almanza. While I was there a gentleman did opt to get the plication. From what I was told the plication is a fairly new procedure but patients with the sleeve loose more weight than thos with the plication. He didn't appear to have any complications from his procedure as well. Good luck

April Sleevers?
I was sleeved on the 14th with Dr. Almanza and on that very day he preformed surgery on 8 people. I was the last to go in. It seemed liked an eternity but with a massive amount of weight you can't wait to get rid of waiting hours was really a breeze when you look at the big picture.

5 days POST OP
I had my surgery on the 14th of March. The day after surgery I was so nauseous i could barely stand to be awake. I was throwing up blood as well as saliva. They gave me ice cubes and I through those up as well. I could hold nothing down if felt as though i was experiencing an awful hangover. So the dr. determined to put me back under and perform a endoscopic procedure to see if there was actual blockage. After this treatment i felt much better. I was then able to suck on ice chips which then progressed to tiny sips of water which caused a lot of pressure on my stomach which is why i sipped. After two days in the hospital I then went home. I have continued to walk and have not experiened any real pain. I have taken no pain medicine since leaving the hospital, no need for it. The gas is just unbearable after a meal. I feel deprived I have noticed smells I never use to notice before the surgery for instance while in the airport i couldn't help but notice the fries and oh how I longed to taste just one. I'm not hungry just have cravings for things. Anybody else experience this? I just finished planting flowers and a tree in the yard so i'm doing well. I've also managed to lose 11 lbs since surgery... I can't help but check my weight every morning.
