Hi, Did anyone who posts here have thier plication "imbrication" with Dr. Cottem in SLC Utah? I think He said he has done about 35 of them. He uses and endoflip and thinks it is a very useful tool for getting the stomach size just right. Please share any experiences you have with him.

I am jelous. I wish I was having it done that soon. I have $ set aside in my savings account just waiting to have it done. I am really hoping I can get it done in mid March. I'm waiting on a doctor to give me some info right now, then I will try to line it up with either Cottem in SLC or Watkins. Please keep us posted on your experience at the OCC. I have heard a lot of good things about them.

I don't think I would go to with either one of them. I am a chicken. I am not sure that I believe that poster with problems though. That is the problem with the net. So many posers with an agenda. I was not trying to scare anyone. I just thought I would pass on what I heard. I talked to Ortiz on the phone. He seems like a good Doctor.

I was thinking of going to Mexico, but I chickened out. I wish I was brave enough. It would save me A LOT of $! I have never been to Mexico. I am not trying to promote any doctor like some people seem to do for compensation on these boards. I just wanted to say that I talked to a doctor who told me something like "if you do decide to go to Mexico, go to Corvala. Don't go to Ortiz." His words, not mine. I didn't ask why.

Maybe a wind-up, maybe they died.

wasabubblebut is the one who makes all the "bottom feeder" comments. She works for a doctor who makes his money doing sleeves. She makes commision from refferels. She obviously has narrow view of things, and does not back up her statements. Trust your own instincts and research. Let me know what Cottem has to say. It is frustrating that I live so close to his office. It would be so conventient to have my plication done in SLC. I can not pay $13000. and so far, I have not had my calls returned.

I still have not heard back from Dr. Cottems office. I was a little annoyed when I called and said "I just attended a seminar last night, but I would like to talk to Dr. Cottem about plication." The lady then said "The best thing to do is to attend a seminar." Duh, I just told you that I attended a seminar. They made me fill out this huge form before they would have the Dr. call me. Still....no phone call. Let me know what you decide to do. We can follow each others progress. Good Luck.

It is not a gimic. People are just scared of new things. I've talked to DR. Ortiz himself, and Dr. Watkins staff today. They are seeing very good results in their plication patients. I was also told that I am fine to have the plication even with my higher BMI and over 100 pounds to lose. I am feeling goos about plication now. I just can't decide what doctor to use.

I am leaning towards plication surgery. I would like to have this done by Dr. Watkins. My second choice is Ortiz. Please share your thoughts on either Dr.

Thanks for the info Dr. Watkins. I have been in touch with Pamela, and I am hoping to have GPS in March. I know I need to get the ball rolling, but I was hoping that Cottem would call me back and tell me if He would perform the GPS at the same price as you. It is just my luck that the Dr. who is in my state charges the highest fee, and I simply can not afford him. If he ever does call or email me back, I would also like to know if He would give me any after care if needed. As much as I would love for you to perform the surgery for me, It seems so silly to have to leave my children and fly across the country. Maybe you could give him a hint to contact me and give me a deal. better yet, both of you could do the surgery for me next week when you are here in Utah! Haha...a girl can dream right? After much reading. I decided I wanted plication instead of the band. Now I am worried I am too fat for plication. I have 120 to lose (I would be thrilled with 100) I read that this procedure is usually done for those with smaller BMI's. Now I am worried I will not be able to get this surgery. Any thoughts? I am getting something done Mid march. band, plication or sleeve. I just need to know what is best for me. I am scared of the band because of all the horror stories I have read. Please share opinions!

what do you think is the average # of fills a person needs before they are just right? Will I spend the rest of my life filling and unfilling, or will I find that spot and be good for life?
