Coughing Since May 4 Band
I have been told that sometimes you get the same symptoms if a band needs some Fluid as you would get for a band thats too tight.

One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help
Actually I wasn't pointing fingers. Just stating facts. If you have been trying for four years and can't figure it out then I would say ignorance is something you have a handle on..... not me. If you are doing what you are supposed to and doing everything perfect then you wouldn't have a problem. You can lie to yourself and stay on the track you are on or get real. Either way don't blame me for stating the obvious.

Post-Op: What You Wish You Knew Prior To Getting The Lap Band
That the band is very touchy and restriction changes with weather, illness, menstrual cycle, etc. I have got more fills and unfills in this year then I ever dreamed I would.

Coughing Since May 4 Band
Cough is a sign of being to tight. You need to remove some more fluid. Even though you had some removed you probably already had everything irritated and inflammed so you have to remove more fluid so your stomache can relax. Then get a small fill in a few weeks. I have had that cough and it is miserable and ifyou let it go then reflux starts also.

Hungry!!!!
Can you add milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese? These are proteins and will help fill you.

One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help
If you haven't lost then it is because of your choices. The reality of weight loss is calorie in and calorie out equals weight loss but if you choose bad foods and large portions then the scale won't move. Dig deep inside of you and make some changes.

Please Help, One Year Post Op, No Results
You have all the answers to your weight loss problem in your post. You are making bad food choices, eating more then allowed with the band, and purging. This is why you aren't losing weight but I would think that you need to answer deeper more intimate questions. Why are you doing these things? Why are you sabataging yourself? I don't have any answers for you but if you don't make some changes then you will hurt yourself abusing your band this way. I would suggest you go back to liquids because your pouch is probably stretched and start over with the band. Wish I had a simple answer but there isn't a simple answer.

I don't know about EAS but I usually can't get thick shakes down. I buy some fruity ones from a place here called the weight loss zone. I know they are just a selling point but I am not sure who distributes these. You could probably order them online but they are more like Crystal Light and have a BIG variety.

I Think I'm In Bandster Hell :/
Just remember we didn't get the surgery because we made good choices and that won't be fixed over night. If you go in and you have gained just be mature and say I know what I did and I have to get back on track. This is what they do for a living. They won't get mad at you. Don't put so much pressure on yourself or you will fall even further the wrong direction. We all struggle..... hang in there.

Full Liquid Diet Day 1
We all were. Just remember the benefits of why you are doing this. The surgery itself is not bad and lasts about 30 minutes. You can do ANYTHING for 30 minutes!!! You will be okay and start a new journey in your life full of freedom. Hang in there.

6 Days Post Op..very Bloated...
I was very bloated myself. I looked pregnant and was embarrassed to go back to work because no one knew I had surgery. When my doctor released me to excercise (more then walking short times) that made all the difference. I walked Forrest Gump style, used gas X strips, and fluids. My tummy went down fast. As far as the loose BM's i can tell you what I was told when i had that problem. if all you take in is liquid then all that comes out is liquid....LOL.... That gets better as you go through the food stages.

Have You Ever Heard Of A Doctor Having Trouble Finding The Port?
Yes my fill doctor does not use flouroscopy and has a heck of a time. He has hit the side of the rubber stopper and into the plastic and it hurts. My surgeon does it under fluoro and hits it just right of course. There is a new band wagon coming through my city with xray so I am going to switch over to them to be safe. I'm not trying to be gross but the way my port is placed bowels also seem to make a difference.

I agree not the best choice and remember those are the same choices that got us here. I won't say I have never had ice cream since my band but not early and definately not often. If you must indulge be smart about it and DO NOT bring home a big container. Get a small amount (single use) and have your moment and move on.

I have never made it with ice cream because its just added calories and I would prefer to just eat the ice cream rather then put it in a shake. If I were to use Ice cream i would probably use low carb ice cream. As far as soft frozen yogurt in my opinion McDonalds has the best (sounds weird) and its portion controlled and nothing left over so you won't run to the fridge for seconds. It has low cal and low fat and it is really good. So get you a vanilla cone and dish the yogurt in your blender with your shake or just eat the ice cream cone...LOL

They Want To Remove My Band. I Say Nooooo!
Thats awesome. So what did they say the problem was? Just had the tummy irritated and caused the band to tighten? Sounds like it wasn't a slip so thats great news. It is ridiculous that it took a hospital admission to get your band unfilled. Definately eat if you can. Let your tummy settle down and get fills in small incriments so this doesn't happen again. i have tried to wait out a tight band before and it only got worse so sometimes all you can do is get some fluid out and let your body heal.

Flying With The Band
Going through security is never a problem and I fly a lot. I get reflux when my band gets to tight so I try to keep it from getting to that point.
-
Flying With The Band
YES...... I have to fly to all my band appointments and for work. The band does get tight and for me I have had a few times where it wouldn't losen for a few days. I always go back to warm liquids until it losens and eat/drink things that act as diuretics to help get fluid off me and that seems to help the band losen.

Swallowing Pills
I take all pills and the only thing I have ever had trouble with is antibiotics in capsules because the capsule seems to melt away before it actually goes down and I am left with a nasty bitter bitter taste. I just went to doctor last night and got Lortab, antibiotic, steroids, and tessalon pearls and I have swallowed them all whole. They are all different sizes but the Lortab is bigger then Tylenol and i have no problem.

I buy Jay Robb whey protein mix and they have several flavors and are really good. I like to mix mine with milk so thats extra protein. They have 220 calories/50protein/2carbs when made with 2 scoops and water. The fruity flavored ones are great for the summer because they are more like a Crystal light drink and have a big varity of flavors and are distributed by the weight loss zone (I am sure you can google them because I lot of different places sell them). They have 140 calories/2carbs/30protein for 2 packs mixed with 16ounces of water. The Jay Robb was recommended by my band surgeon Dr.Smith and I buy it from Sunflower Shoppes when go to Dallas or you can find places to order it online. The Weight Loss Zone drinks were recommended by my band doctor that I see locally (for fills and unfills) and they are delicious!! They have coffee ones, hot chocolate ones, grape,cran-grape,peach mango, pineapple, pineapple orange, strawberry kiwi, wild berry, orangeade, lemonade, lemon razzy, and grapefruit. I mix them in the 16.8 ounce water bottles and throw them in my work bag or gym bag for the day. If I am extra hungry one day (like around my cycle) then I drink an extra drink. You are going to be drinking protein for the rest of your life so find some that you really like not just tolerate. My husband has decided to lose weight (BIG step for him) and is using protein shakes and he LOVES the ones from weight loss zone. He bought Herbalife and tolerated it but it got old quick and I had him try mine. If you need any more info or pictures just let me know but if you like fruit flavored drinks or chrystal light then you will like these. If you are in the mood for something thicker then Jay Robb is good.
