Hi my name is Maddy and I really want the lap band surgery but I'm not sure if I'm too young. I've heard a few stories about people who have had the surgery who are my age and are fine but I'm still curious. I would have never considered this before but I've done everything to try to loose weight and I can't . My parent's are fine with it but I want to know if there's anyone out there who's got any useful information about life after. I've been teased about my weight before an one girl got detention because of what she said. Another girl I used to know asked me if I was still fat on Facebook chat and then after arguing she said "f**k you fatty" and I feel like it's only going to get worse. If any one has any useful information please let me know.

Only my family knows and when my friends ask me or mention it I just say that I eat less and exercise more

I know its been forever since I've said anything but I just thought I should let you guys know that since my surgery which was about 6 months and I've lost (including the pre-op diet) About 50 pounds. One of my resolutions is to eat better (because my eating habits are still poor) so hopefully this year I'll eat better and exercise more frequently. All in all It was one of the best things I've ever done and I'm not going to lie I had an intense pre-op diet (I had to eat two protein shakes or a bar and one microwave meal (ike a lean cuisine) for a week going up to it and then I couldn't eat two days before and from midnight the day of of I couldn't drink) but I would do all of that again. And after not being able to eat for about two days was horrible because I wanted to but I physically couldn't. But like I said I would do it all again in a heart beat. Hi. Well I just had the Gastric Plication about 3 weeks ago and so far its been great. While getting my surgery done I met several people. One of them was a woman who had had the lap band but had had some problems and was considering the Plication. With the lap band you have to make sure your doctor knows what he or she is doing. But If i were you I'd get the Plication. Its around the same price as the lap band if not cheaper. Its basicly like the Sleeve but removable and I think you might be able to loose more with the plication. but if you really want the lap band you should go for it! I've never met anyone who's regretted getting weight loss surgery done, in fact most people wish they'd had it done earlier. So go for it!

It's defiantly worth it I had it about 3 weeks ago and so far I've lost about 25 pounds! I'm so happy I can't wait to see what its going to be like when I've lost all my weight!

Thanks sooo much everyone. I'm really excited! I'm not getting the LapBand I'm getting gastric plication. Its similar to the gastric sleeve but Its reversible. I'm getting it in early June. I CAN'T WAIT! You've all been very helpful. Thank you Maddy

Thank you for all the support. I'm pretty sure I'm fully grown or almost there because I'm 5'8 now. I've always been tall and when I was 7 I actually went to the doctor because I was extremely tall for my age and it turned out that then my bone age (which is the physical age of you body) was 12. Thank GOD it slowed down. I'm pretty sure that I'm fully grown. My mom had a similar surgery so I know what I'm getting into. Me and my sister would be getting it done. I think were going to get it this summer because I've decide that its so worth it and I'm sick of going through my life (teen years especially) without having a life. I have a few friends. I know no boys. I don't get invited to party's. The last birthday party I got invited to (with wasn't my best friends) was in 3rd or 4th grade. I already feel different because of my weight and for the fact that I live in the U.S. and I'm from the U.K. After finally living in the same COUNTRY as my dad for a few years he is now working in South Korea. I just have a lot of pressure on my now. I'm so grateful that I can ask other people in similar situations what they think I should do. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. ALL OF YOU! Maddy

Thanks that really helps because I'm only 13 and I really want to get it done and everyone one here is IME 16 or 17 or 18 at the least. So that really helps Thanks

well i'm quite young compared to most of the people looking into the lap-band but my mom had a similar surgery so I know what the lap-band is about. I probably wouldn't have it done in the U.S.
