Hello my new friend, I am 38 years old and have been overweight my whole life and as a kid I was "big boned" haha. I truly understand how you feel. I struggle with failure issues. I have posted scriptures in hopes to get it into my thick skull but honestly I think God is leading me to this. As long as we live in these imperfect conditions and bodies we will struggle (some of us more than others). My mom is overweight also and unfortunately I got some eating habits from her (emotional eating, stress eating). She was born and raised in Germany, very poor and food makes her happy. She is now very unhealthy (actually in hospital as i write this). She has asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes and anxiety disorder. I am headed for same if I dont get my weight under control. Thanks for listening. I have my initial dr appt 1/11 with my primary to discuss Lap Band. I pray she is on board with me. Take care and I will pray for us every night ....................now if only I could learn how to do the ticker thingy

Hi There, I think a lot of us know what you are feeling. I just decided I want to get the surgery and was very thankful that my husband and my mom are all for it. My son 14 seems a little nervous but I will show him more info and he will be fine. I told my husband I didnt want everyone to know, I think cause I am afraid of getting the same reaction you got. Ya, we all know we should be able to just excercise 5 hours a day and eat celery right! Wrong. I think it is natural to feel like this is the easy way out but after reading and talking I have come to realize that it isnt. So we dont need to feel guilty or whatever. I am excited. I have to wait 2 weeks to see my primary doctor and hopefully she will be on board with me so I can be referred to a surgeon (hmo). Let me know when you go to your appointment and how it goes.........forget about the negative people around........we will show them!

Hello. Are you looking for someone in your area? I actually live in California, east of San Diego. I dont know what you are going through cause I have yet to have the surgery but I am starting the process. I called my doctor for an appointment. Hi......I'm sorry I dont have an answer for you but I just wanted you to know that I too am trying to start the process. I am excited and when I get excited about something I cant wait for it to happen, so I know I will be getting frusterated waiting on others to get back to me..........for instance, today I called my doctor to make an appointment and they didnt call me back. I was however in the chat room today and I mentioned that i hadnt started the process and someone said it will go fast.........so we shall see. Take care
