    LAPBAND DIDN'T WORK FOR ME

On the flip side of things, I love my band. I had the band for always two years now and I never felt the green zone until a couple of days ago. Before my fill, I only had 1 fill but I worked hard to get the 85 pounds off. I watched my food intake and exercise 3-4 times a week. The band is a tool and the weight is not going to fall off without hard work. I just received 2 1/2 cc's fill and back on the liquid diet for a while. I feel great. I was stuck at 250 pounds after almost 2 years and felt like a fill was needed. If you put your mind to it than you can lose the weight. Never give up on something that you want to accomplish so bad. Just saying.

    struggling

I had my lapband for almost 2 years and just received my 2nd fill. At this point, I have about 4 cc's of fluid in my band. I never had restriction until now. I was filled 2 1/2 cc's which is something I had to get adjusted too. Right now, I'm just taking it slow and started myself back on the liquid diet. Previously to maintain my weight, I just watch my fluid intake and exercise 3-4 times a week and lost 85 pounds. I would definitely see what your doctor says and get back on track. You can do this. I have faith in you.

    cheated already!!! Help!!!

Don't be so down on yourself. I know the feeling of the liquid diet. I tried of variety of different things when I went on my preop diet. I made my own protein shakes for variety and I was exercising 2-3 days a week and I went to surgery. We all cheat at times but the most important thing is that you get back on track. You can do this:). Good luck on your journey.
  5. I'm really getting down about my weight loss. I can't seem to get pass the 250 mark. It is pass time for a fill. I haven't had one in over a year due to insurance will not pay. I can't wait until my appt on May 2nd.

    Completely Off Track!

Trust me, you are not along in this journey. I don't believe I have completely fell off the band wagon but I'm close. I have seen my surgeon in over a year due to switch of jobs and my insurance does not cover obesity which really sucks. I have never been in the green zone which is very much needed. I had my lap band surgery on 5/17/11 and my weight was 334. I have lost 85 pounds. Now, my weight is 249. I have only had my band fill twice. I believe I have 4 cc or a little less in my band. I finally made an appt for 5/04/13 to see the surgeon for a fill. I hate that my insurance will not cover the appts because I really don't have $90 to come out of pocket but I need one so bad. I do watch what I eat the majority of time but sometimes I overeat or eat too much throughout the day. I believe the only thing that keeps me going is that I go to they gym 3 to 4 times a week. I feel your pain. I'm back on here because I need support too.

  12. It has definitely been a long time since I have been on here. WOW! I'm back. To give everyone an update on my progress which I have fallen off the bandwagon many times. I have jumped back on and fell off again. I have changed jobs so my insurance does not cover my fills any longer and I have to pay for everything out of pocket which has hinder me. On the other hand, I didn't go through this for nothing so I have to do what I have to do. I don't believe that I had a fill for a...

    Being Banded On 1/9/2012

My surgeon did not give me my 1st fill until 6 weeks post op. She wanted time for my incision to heal fully. I don't think anything is wrong with that. Right now, I'm 7 months post op and I had only had two fills. I'm at a comfront zone now. I have 4 ccs in my band and the weight just keeps coming off. To date, I have lost 63 pounds. My goal is to lose 100 pounds within a year. I just keep striving for that goal. Congratulations on your surgery date and good luck

    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hello my May bandsters. I just wanted to give everyone an update. I had my second fill of 2 cc on November 15th under fluoroscopic. Hopefully, the next time, my doctor will be able to find my port in the office with more weight loss. I will not be able to return until May because I lost my insurance when I started a new job. I pray that my doctor is in the network. I would hate to lose her because she is a great surgeon and she keeps me motivated. To date, I have 4 cc in my band and I have lost 60 pounds thus far. This past week has been tough for me. I have only been to the gym twice. I have to keep motivated during the winter months which is hard for me. I have about a 30 minute commute and after I pick kids up from activities, it is just easy for me to come home and relax instead of going to the gym like I should be. I set my weight loss goal for 25 pounds from November 15 - January 14, 2012. I don't know if I set my weight loss goal too high or not especially during the holiday season. I really want to accomplish it though which means I need to workout more. I hope to at least lose 10 pounds during December but it is going really slow. The good news, I started out wearing a size 28 pants and now I'm down to a 22. My shirt size was 4x and now I'm wearing a 2x. I was wearing a 46DD bra and now I'm wearing 42DD. I have make some really great accomplishments and now I just have to stay on track especially since I'm will not receiving another fill. I'm good at where I'm at now and I don't know if another fill will be needed but time will tell. I'm really loving myself right now. I think my husband is feeling some insecurities but he does not have to worry because he is the one that motivates me to keep going. After my second fill, I have been having some increased vomiting but I know what I'm doing wrong. I'm eating foods that I know that I can't have. After vomiting, I tell myself I'm not eating that again because I know that I can't have it. Well, I have went on long enough with my story but this is my update. I'm just keep pushing and pushing

    Tiredness And Lack Of Motivation

Last week was hard for me also. I only went to the gym once and I went to a Zumba class for the first time. I don't feel like I got much for the Zumba class because I was totally lost and couldn't keep up. I know that I need more exercise than that or I will start gaining my weight back. Of course, my monthly cycle doesn't help matters. My plan is to hit the gym hard next week. Winter time is definitely a weakness for me but I have to do this in order to keep the success going. I have worked too hard to lose this week and I can't backslide now. I know you can do it but I know exactly how you feel right now. I wished that I had a partner to exercise with. I know that would motivate me more

To gym or not to gym?

I have been going to the gym but I want to try Zumba. It has just opened in my area a couple of weeks ago and I want to try it so bad. I think it would really help me out. I don't know what the class entails but it is only like $5.00 for a session.

    Treadmills for a obese beginner!!!

This is really great information regarding exercise that I stomped across. I have been battling with exercise. I try to make it to the gym 4 days a week but that doesn't always work for me. I usually make 3 days a week but improvement is in progress. I use the treadmill a lot. I try to work out 45 minutes to an hour using the random mode for incline. I can remember when I first started, I couldn't say on treadmill more than 20 minutes.
  18. I haven't been on for a while. Here is my latest update. I'm 60 pounds down. Exciting. I just got a fill last week and had a lot of vomiting. My surgeon only filled me 2 cc. Don't understand

    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hello Everyone I just found this forum and I'm excited about it. It is good to find individuals who was banded the same month that I was banded and to see their results. I like to know if I'm on track or if there are changes that I need to make towards my healthier lifestyle. I was banded on May 11, 2011. I had a revision of my ports in August. The port kept flipping when my surgeon tried to fill. In surgery, I received a 2 cc fill. That was my first fill. I don't know if the ports flipping is something that I have done. My surgeon did let me know while I was in surgery that the ports were good. I don't if I was nervous about my first fill or what. She is very pleased about my weight loss. To date, I have lost 32.6 pounds. At times, I feel satisfied but then other times I don't. I don't think I have met my happy medium. Hopefully, I will get another fill at my next appointment on the 12th of September. Exercise has never been an advantage for me. I have been trying to exercise more. To date, I have been walking 4.5 miles a day 3 times a week. My short term goal is to increase to 4 times a week. I did have a membership at the gym. For some odd reason, I don't seem to walk as much when I'm on the treadmill. I don't know if it is due to walking in one place and the scenery bores me. We have a park in my area and I walk that trail and I walk more and at a faster pace. I have to decide how I will get my exercise in during the winter months? Any suggestions would be great. I was thinking about rejoining the gym in the winter but I'm afraid that my length of exercise will decrease which I don't want to happen. I can remember when I could only walk a mile twice a week. Anywoo, I guess that I have carried on long enough but I just wanted to share my progress with the bandster in May.

When do you see the surgeon?

I didn't see my surgeon until the surgery schedule date. I only seen the weight loss center physician. I don't think it is odd. Now, I had my surgery and my follow ups are with the surgeon. I only see the weight loss physician every 6 months which I guess is for routine follow up and labwork.
