  1. Congrats to you! I was approved today. I'm really thinking about calling my insurance to double check because I can't believe what I heard. I got a really quick respone, within a few days.
  2. Got a call today from the surgeon's office that I am approved for my May 11, 2011 surgery!!!!! My info was submitted on the April 11, but it was missing my clearance from the pulm because my appt with him was on the 13th. I don't even know when that was submitted. They must have approved me quickly. So excited my time has finally come. Bloodwork and chest XR on May 2nd. Pre-op appt with my surgeon on May 9th.
  3. You can always call your insurance to see if they cover the surgery. With a BMI of 40 you don't need to have any co-morbid issues. I'm from North Jersey and my Doctor is out of Mountainside hospital in Montclair, NJ.
  4. Reading this post just made me think about what I'm going to do. I got my bridesmaid dress right before I even thought about Lapband surgerywhich was at least back in November. I ordered the size I am now. My surgery is May 11th and that will give me 5 months to lose weight. The dress is simple so I'm hoping it won't be an issue to take in.
  5. I wouldn't feel that bad, but I would try not to do it again. Just hang in there!
  6. I don't start my liquid diet until May 4th. I might even try (as much as I can go without eating real food) to start the week before that just so I can lose a few extra lbs. My pre-op diet consists of: tomato or V8 juice (yuck) cream of wheat or oatmeal (i only like oatmeal- peaches and cream) SF pudding SF Jello Dannon light N fit yogurt unsweetened applesauce (i like it sweet) fat free raw veggies (not a fan of raw veggies) I have to have 4 servings of my Protein shake daily. At least 6of these foods from the list. This is gunna suck.
  7. I went to the pulm earlier today to get the results of my sleep study and everything was fine! thank GOD! Today is also exactly 4 weeks from my surgery day. I guess my surgeon's office is waiting for the clearance letter from my DR that I saw today and then they can submit everything. I also joined a new gym this week and have a buddy to go with. I'll be going Mon-Fri and might even go twice a day. I really want to get this weight off as quick as I can. If anyone hasn't seen Skymoon1982 on youTube you have to check out her videos...very inspirational.
  8. My husband and I bought a Magic Bullet. He wan't it for food purposes and I wanted it for fruits moothies and my protein shakes. I haven't made a protein shake in it yet, but I could imagine it does wonders. It comes with a bunch of different sized cups and with travel lids too. My surgery is a month away. I'm planning on bringing my before lunch shake to work in a travel cup and sticking it in the fridge. Good luck!!
  9. I went there sleepy the first time, but I could fall asleep. I think they need to come up with a way to do these studies at peoples houses. They would probably get better results. I also think I was worried about not letting the pulse ox fall off my finger when I was sleeping. I was so tired and couldnt stop yawning, but I had to wait because the tech was hooking someone up before me. It was wayyy past my normal bedtime.
  10. I had my last nutrition appointment last night! It finally feels so real. I go on Wednesday for my sleep study results. I hope eveything went okay because my surgery is already scheduled for May 11th. I hope I don't have to have a repeat sleep study with the CPAP machine; I guess I'll find out Wednesday.
  11. Can I just say I LOVE anesthesia. I feel like its the best sleep ever. When you wake up you feel so relaxed. I would def try to quit smoking asap so you don't have any complications and so you can heal faster.
  12. To be cleared I had an EGD. It was nothing. They knock you out and before you know if youre awake again. I didn't have to do anything else.
  13. I guess it helps to hear how other peoples tests went. I've snored since I was little. I've always been told I had big tonsils. I know I did see an ENT went I was litlle and he said I didn't need my tonsils out if they didn't bother me. It's only been the past year that I have been feeling restless after 8 hours of sleep and I always feel tired throughout the day.
  14. It took me forever to fall asleep. I'm not sure what time I actually fell alseep. By the time the tech finished putting on all the wires it was 11 pm and I tried going to sleep right away because I was tired. I tech had to come in the room twice, once to fix the wire on my leg and the other time to switch the pulse ox to another finger. Both times she came in I was laying there with my eyes shut, but not sleeping. She said based on things that were seen I would most likely have to repeat the study with a CPAP machine.
  15. So I had my sleep study on Sunday. Can I just say it was the worst sleep I have ever had. The tech told me that I might possibly have to go back for a second because of my snoring and something else. I don't see the pulm to go over my results until April 13th. I'm scheduled for surgery May 11th and I'm afraid if I have to go back for a second sleep study it's going to delay my surgery. It takes up to 2 week to get results from a sleep study. Any one else have this problem?
  16. I'm going thorugh a six month...started in November and finish in April, surgery scheduled May 11th. 12 months does seem like a lot and I thought 6 months was bad.
  17. My PCP is againt the Lapband because he has only seen a few people that it really worked for. He told me that there is a reason people with weight problems are at that heavy weight. He said it is sychological and that you have to figure it out or you wont change. Him saying that made me nervous and now I don't know if I should talk to someone? He was also asking me what I would do if I lost 40 pounds and the weightloss just stopped....I told him I wan't going to be one of those people. I'm tired of being fat and once I am banded sometime in May, I am going to work my ass off because I want this more then anything. He also said the problem with forums is that you always hear the good and the bad...He just wants to make sure I am making the right decision because he cares.
  18. I have my medical clearance on March 23rd. My last nutrition appt is April 7th and I am also hoping to get my results back from my sleep study around this time. I saw my pulm. on the 9th, which was my last doctor I needed to see and the soonest I could get me in for a sleep study was March 27th and results take 2 weeks to get back. When I first met with my surgeon he scheduled my surgery for May 11th. I think I will have exactly 31 days when I get my sleep study results, hopefully that is enough time to submit to Cigna and get an approval.
  19. Don't lose weight now. Wait until you start your pre-op diet. Once you get approved it's okay.
  20. I'm with nallygirl on this one. I too had to wait 6 months. I started my journey at the end of November and this month I will be finshing up doctor's appointments with my last nutrition appt. in April. My surgery is scheduled for May 11, 2011. I too wished I could have had my surgery right away. I am thankfull that I have had time to check out what other people have gone through/or are going through. I feel like I am learning a lot from other peoples' experiences and I will benefit from the waiting period. Time has gone so fast it's amazing. I think this will be worth the wait. Good luck to you!
  21. I did only tell a few close people. One of the people I told is one of my best friends which of course is going to tell her fiance. I actually ended up going to her house the other night. He was there and didn't say one word to me. I guess he felt like an A**hole. I only told close friends.
  22. You definately made me laugh. Thanks for your thoughts and laughs.
  23. Day Dreamer you are too funny!! He says that people just need to diet and exerciseand that it is a life style. He used to go to the gym and eat well, but now all he does is sit at home, drink beer, and go out to eat all the time. Maybe he just wants make me feel like shit, but he shouldn't be the one to talk. I think the people that make this choice care about living and being healthy and obviously we need that extra help. This choice is better than to go on and try doing it on our own when we are just going to make the same mistakes and maybe even keep gaining. I just don't understand why loved ones don't always support their sig. other that is choosing wls. I'm just tired of being fat and am doing something about it! K I think I'm done venting lol.
  24. It just drives me nuts when he makes comments. My friend and his fiance was thinking of getting it done. and he is so against it. She is only 24 and pushing 300 pounds. He thinks she will be able to go to the gym and diet and lose it on her own. He peobably thinks the same thing about me but never says it to my face. Wouldn't you want your loved one to be healthy? Hello if it was that easy for us we would have done this by now. I think it just pushes me more to be successful. Being banded in May and you best believe I'm going to push myself to get the results I want.
