  1. Happy Anniversary to you!!!!! I was told not to have any carbonated beverages and to stay away from them. Also for the alcohol at least 6 months but since this is a wonderful occasion I'd recommend the vodka and cranberry juice or any of your personal favorites to go with the vodka. I'm not sure if you're into fruitty but you may want to try Malibu (which is a caribbean rum) with orange juice and a splash of pineapple juice. That's good and very light.... Hope those help, and enjoy your fabulous evening with the hubby.....cheers
  2. I've been around, how are you? Things are going very well. The weight loss is slowing but that's due to me going to solid foods, which wasn't a bad transition. The restriction is getting less the more I heal so I stick to the 1/2 cup eating. Down 15 lbs so far, now my Dr. said to only weigh once a week. First fill is on Jan. 19th......yay, can't wait!!!!! How's it going with you????

  3. Congrats A.J.!!!!!!!! That is such great news.... your weight loss is inspiring. I'm 10 days post op and have lost 15 lbs... I don't get my first fill until Jan. 18 so for now I'm sticking to eating no more than a half a cup while taking my Vitamins and getting the Fluid in. I don't know about you but I can't wait to countdown to the New Year because this New Year it will finally happen that I'll lose weight.....yay!!!!! I too am trying to figure out how to paste that ticker as well. There is a previous blog about it but I still didn't get it. If someone can give a step by step on how you post it for those of us who aren't that tech savy(lol) would be greatly appreciated. Continued success to you A.J.

    Let's go already!

Ask if you can have a private session, I know that was allowed if you couldn't make the regular meetings. Granted, you'd have to pay for that but at least it will count. Also, your PCP may also help with the evaluation she has to send too, make sure she documents your struggle with getting the weight off that helps. I didn't lose a single pound during my process and actually gained 2 lbs (I only had to do a 3 month process) Anyway, my insurance approved my surgery and I was even missing 1 appt. with my PCP. So just hang in there, sweetie. And by the way, I didn't lose during the pre-surgery phase but I'm now 5 days post-op and I'm down 13 lbs. You will lose weight.......keep your head up and things will get better!!!!!!! Keep us posted....

    Fears...

One thing you need to do is make sure "mentally" you're ready for this procedure. You're definitely going to change, the fact that you are a mother is good and maybe it will affect decisions you will make down the road. You're human, and humans are NOT perfect. I've had friends who've had the bypass surgery done before and did they change....yes.....the attention they got was something they had always wanted, did they make wrong decisions...yes....SO!!!!! Life is a journey, there will be things that you will do that you may regret but take them as stepping stones on this journey and keep it moving. You seem to be the kind of person who doesn't care what someone would say anyway. Always remember, people's opinions are just like a**holes.............EVERYBODY HAS ONE.....LOL!!!! Just do you and be happy with what you want to do....
  6. Post-Op Day 3- Down 12lbs.......YaY!!!!!

    day 2 post op....

Congrats, I too am 2 days post-op and am feeling pretty good. I went out yesterday to JC Penney to walk the gas off and it worked!!!!! No more shoulder pain today and only discomfort I feel is from the incision site of the port. I'm very excited!!!!! I'm glad to hear that you're able to get protein down, I can only take about 2 tsp and I've been sipping water, I ate a 1/4 of a SF popsicle last night. Today I heard my stomach growl and it made me laugh, because for the first time ever......I wasn't hungry.....i hear the 3rd day is a good day and hope to get a little protein in me tomorrow. This has definitely been an exciting journey and to think we're just starting. My post-op appt is Tues and can't wait to see what the scale says. I wish you the best and know that we all need to hear.. everyone's recovery will be different but when you read about others' post op recovery it is enlightening...
  8. I DID IT!!!!! I am now a proud bandster......don't feel too bad either.....

  9. No need to be jealous. I can't wait to see your progress. I appreciate your well wishes, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll let you know how it goes........

    One of my personal pick-me-ups...

Thank you very much, this was absolutely amazing!!!! I get banded on Tuesday and was feeling a little anxious, but after reading this.......I've got my mind back where it needs to be. I'm ready for this remarkable transformation that is about to happen and will take it day by day and will begin to build my stones during my recovery time. God Bless.....

    What is Bandster Hell?

    What is Bandster Hell?

That's what I don't want to happen. Did you chew your food thoroughly? That's what they say to do, but I guess there are those times where it could happen. I was told not to eat the breast because it would be too dry and could possibly get stuck so I hope you weren't eating chix breast. Anyhoo, how's it going for you so far? How much weight have you lost? Do you like the results you're seeing?

    What is Bandster Hell?

I know, right!!!! My Bariatric team has already well educated us on what not to eat to keep things from getting stuck. Actually, it's that they probably didn't chew it good enough. She said to chew, chew, and chew again and you should have no problems. But everyone is different. Glad to see a fellow Dec. 7th bandster, 6 days to go.....whoo hoo.....I've lost 6 lbs already being on this pre-op diet. We're not required to do liquid until the first week post-op so now it's a high protein, low-carb diet. Keep in touch and let me know how everything goes for you.
  15. 7 days to go, and ready to go!!!!

    Discouraged and Disappointed

Things will get better!!!! Be thankful that you and your husband were able to recover from the accident. Stay positive, once you start going to the gym that will help with the stress and you'll begin to see your weight drop again. I wish you well......
