  1. I got banded today! I checked in about 6:30 a.m. My story is pretty similar to the other stories on this topic. I was super nervous before the surgery but everything went smooth. When I woke up in recovery I was slightly nauseated, the nurse gave me something to help with that but it made me really sleepy. I kept asking the nurse if everything went ok and I didn't really believe I had the band in until they got me up to do the barium test/x-ray and I saw it on the monitor for myself. Then she told me to get dressed and I was released. I kept thinking that it seemed like I was going home fast but I didn't mind. I was home by 10:45 a.m and sleeping soon after. I am in some pain, to me it feels similar to when I had a c-section but I just make sure I keep on top of my meds. The pain hurts mainly when standing up and sitting down and taking deep breaths which feels weird. It has only been hours since surgery and I am already playing on the internet so the whole ordeal must not have been that bad but of course it could be the drugs talking
  2. My doctor put me on a 3-week liquid diet. She said it was because my BMI is over 50. It was tough, I had a few setbacks, but I have surgery tomorrow!
  3. I'm getting banded in four days (March 10) and I'm am a little scared! My pre-op diet isn't too bad...two shakes and one cup of soup a day. Plus vegetable juice and one low sugar/low fat pudding or jello. The first three days were hard but I'm into a routine now.
  4. I just happened to stumble across your post...we have the SAME Dr. and surgery date! I had to start the diet a week ago due to my BMI. I thought the first three days were pretty hard so it's good to hear you are doing well. I think I might try making green chile soup...sounds yummy
  5. I know exactly what you mean about emotional eating and working on behavioral modifications. I have been dealing with weight since my teens and I have been trying to figure out why my brain (what I know I need to do) and my behaviors don't work together. I know what it takes to lose weight but there is some sort of disconnect. It has to be emotions, my relationship with food, etc. I am scheduled for surgery March 10, I'm not 350+ (I started at 275...need to lose about 125 lbs) but I do have issues and would like to connect with others. I am so worried that I won't be successful in the long term. I don't like telling people I'm getting banded...I just don't want them to think of me as a failure if it doesn't work.
  6. My doctor said vegetable juice is ok while on the liquid diet. Since you are craving something salty, a V8 in between meals might help (only 50 calories). I am glad you said something about carb headaches...I've been having headaches (I'm on day 4 today) and didn't know exactly why but now it makes sense. Also, I think I've been grieving food more than being hungry Good luck and hang in there!
  7. I am in the same boat. I started the liquid diet Friday...it's only Sunday and I've been hungry and emotional! Ugh. I think the liquid diet has made this whole process real and I'm having to deal with emotional issues dealing with food. It helped somewhat today to buy yogurts, puddings, and caffeine-free teas and now I think I can make it through these weeks. Hang in there! Good thing this site is here for support...just reading that others are going or have gone through this is comforting
