I went today for my second visit with my surgeon and got scheduled for May 27th ... I'm soooo happy!!!! I start my liquid diet tomorrow (only 8 days). Anyone with the same surgery date?

Thanks everyone. I' m so exited... liquid diet hasn't been that bad. Only thing i dont like sweets and my protein shakes are kind of too sweet for my taste. But aside from that it is going great. I need to go shopping for a scale ... can you believe that? I want to have a scale!! LOL Well good luck to all of you and thanks for the good wishes.

Thanks. I have Medicaid with Heath Plus Health Plan. It was suppose to take 2 weeks but took two days for them to approve me. Hope you get approved fast too. Good luck!

I started my journey on November 2010 and it is such a blessing to know I'm almost there. My surgeon's office sent in my paperwork on Monday for my insurance to review, and told me to call back in two weeks. Today (3 days after)I received a call from the office telling me that my insurance approved my case. Yeeeees!!!! Super happy! I'm meeting with my surgeon on May 18th ...that day I will be scheduled for surgery.

Hey guys, I've been away for a few days and wanted to share my progress. I have completed almost all my requirements. Already have gone to 5 of the 6 monthly weigh-in visits with my primary doctor (required by medicaid), went for my Echo and for my renal ultrasound. Also i scheduled my endoscopy for friday and my psych eval for next week. In addition, I'm going to meet with the nutrionist on the 28th and my appt. with the pulmonologist is on April 8th. Ufffff it's a lot but is sure worth it. After all this is done, i have to gather my paperwork and submit it to the medicaid office and wait for an aproval before i can get my final appt. to meet with my surgeon and finally get a surgery date. Soooo... I also wanted to share what happened to me yesterday. I managed to schedule 4 of my appts for the same day at the same hospital. After dropping my 3 and 9 year-old at school, @9:00am I went to the lab and got all my blood work done. Then @11:00am was my scheduled appt. with the Gastroenterologist ...after being there for a while everything went smoothly and i got my endoscopy appt. ...After that it was time for my 12:30pm appt @ the Radiology Dept. for my renal ultrasound. It was a pretty short wait ...the ultrasound was about half an hour. Then finally at 2:00pm it was time for my last appt. this was for my Echo (Heart Ultrasound) this test was about 35 mins. Mind you I had my 1 year old daughter with me all this time (managed to feed her and change her between appts.). I barely made it back to pick up my kids @ school at 3:30. Came home and starded laundry, cleaning the house, homework with the kids, dinner, baths ...etc. When finally after doing the dishes and picking up my towel and heading to the shower ...I hear my baby cry. She had fallen from her sister's bed while dad was reading a bedtime story. When i picked her up her face covered in blood I wanted to die. She fell on top of the edge of the other bed and got a deep cut on top of her right eye. I put on my jeans and shoes, hubby called his brother to stay with the kids and we rushed back to the hospital ...i was soooo nervous but kept pressing the wound. After a few hours in the ER, the doctor said it was better to let the wound heal with no stitches because they leave an ugly scar. But said that he would put on some antibiotic cream and bandage ....so we waited there until 2am and finally made it back home at 3am. Looooong day put I'm just glad my baby girl is ok and that I am closer to my band.

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone has had a C-section and then the Lap Band. ..which surgery is worst when it comes to the pain and gas post-op? I've had 3 C-sections in the past and I'm pretty sure the banding can't be worst. :-/

Ok. .so my mind is set. This will be easier than I thought! :eek: Cunner I hope you spoiled your wife during recovery from the c/s because I'm pretty sure you would want her to spoil you this time around. Good luck; )

That's what I thought. :-) Thanks for your responses guys. The other thing that worries me is how I'll be able to take care of my 1 and 3 year old. ...my mom would be out of the country for 5 months and I want my surgery done before that. My husband can only take a week off work...hmm but everything will be fine I guess. :-)

Hi guys, I'm new to this site. I am convinced that the LAP-BAND® is the way to go ...but my mom is making me feel afraid of having the surgery done. I'm 24 years old, 5.3" and weigh 225 Pounds. She says it is not necessary and that after 3 C-sections and an appendectomy it might be more harmful than i think. She doesn't want to even hear me talk about it. :mad2:I'm so upset because her opinion is really important to me. HELP!!! What can i do to make her understand that this is a good idea? .Also i would like to know how long would it take from the 1st Appt. to the surgery day... and if any of you had to care for small children after surgery? (I have a 9,3, and 1 year old).. Thanks in advance. :laugh:

Thanks so much for your responses... I've being showing my mom videos and explaining to her everything about the surgery. ..she doesn't seem much happier but like you said it's my decision. My first appt it's on the 8th ..I'm so exited. Thanks again. =)
