Medi-Cal and the Band?

Does anyone here have any first-hand knowledge of Medi-Cal (California) and if they pay for the Band, and if so, what is the criteria?

I had a friend of a friend ask me this question, and I'm looking for someone here that might have experience with Medi-Cal in this regard.

Thanks!

HH

I was approved with a 41 BMI and following the protocol of the dr's office. My first office visit was beginning of August, approved the end of August, banded 9/30. Most people dont go through the process as fast as I did though.

Where were you approved Suzi?

What doctor did the procedure?

Well I have found a surgeon in Fresno, CA - DR PArvez who will accept medi-cal with a referral. I go to my endocrinologist in 2 weeks and will be getting a refferal from him! I will let you know how that goes... Are u far from the central valley?

I'm glad to hear that you have found a surgeon! I live in Ventura County. I might have found a Dr. that accepts Medi-Cal in Santa Barbara, but I need to call on Monday. Do you know if you MUST have a referral from your PCP? Hope it goes well for you!
