Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Anthem BCBS in Indiana? I have a consultation soon with a bariatric surgeon and am hoping to get the approval from Anthem. My doctor recommended I have the procedure done and I have a really high BMI of 53.

Hi John, I justed posted my news of approval with Anthem BCBS of Indiana. Send in all their requirements and you shouldn't have any problems . After mine was submitted I was approved in 8 days. Who are you considering for your surgery?? Good Luck!

I have them and was denied and my doctor called to have a peer to peer talk and again was denied so now my doctors office has attorney's involved. Since the requirements changed I should have been approved. I was told they are one of the hardest insurance companies to get approval from. Good luck I hope your application goes better than mine.

They were not easy to get approved with, They need a little nudging now and then. They were waiting for something from us; but never contacted us to tell us they were waiting for something and what it was. Had we not be after them a little bit I would still be waiting.

Just my opinion; but, I think the approval for WLS is going to be harder and harder to get. After the first of the year I think things will be changing. No facts just an opinion.
