Erosion?

Can anyone tell me a little bit about erosion? I am planning on having my surgery in August and I'm trying to gather as much information as possible. I have read where erosion is a possible complication but do not know what that means? Erosion of what? Your stomach? Your lapband? And how would you know if there is any erosion (side effects or symptoms)? Thanks everyone!
