Hi, folks:
I have been lurking on this forum for a long time, but finally had to join in order to get some support.
I was recently diagnosed with an enlarged esophagus. The barium swallow showed dysmotility, which means that the white stuff they gave me to drink took 25 minutes to pass through my esophagus.
The surgeon says that while my esophagus will heal over time with an unfil, there is no way to completely heal it without taking the band out.
Has anyone else had this diagnosis? What happened? Did the esophagus return to normal size and shape after a few months of no fill? Did you have the band removed?
Thanks!
I am a nervous wreck, and need more information than I can find on the net.
