My policy w/ anthem bc/bs does specifically state it does not cover wls regardless of the reason. I just wondered if anyone every appealed this and what result did you get.

I have the same insurance in OH. There are Anthem BC/BS plans that do cover the surgery. You just have to have the right policy. From everything I found out talking to them, there are no exceptions. Sorry:thumbdown:

I have anthem bc/bs of Illinois, mine was covered but it had to be deemed medically necesary, which mine was with acid reflux and border line dietibetic and high blood pressure etc. maybe call and talk to your insurance company would be my only suggestion all they can so is no, right. good luck

I have also talked to them multiple times and even called a Bariatric Surgeons office to see if there was anything I could do about the exclusions and the receptionist told me NO. I asked the cost of self pay and she said it was $25,000.00. I didn't even ask if that included fills. I would consider self pay if I didn't have to pay for student loans and college tuition. Sucks!!! :thumbup:
