My surgery was just scheduled and it will be August 28. I am curious how you handled notifying your work.

When & how did you let your boss/work know you will be out for surgery? What did you say? How soon did you tell them?
I know some folks are open to sharing about the surgery; I applaud you!!!
Unfortunately, I am a pretty private/introverted person and am not comfortable with sharing too much.

I am not telling my work what type of surgery I am having. They all know I have stomach issues such as ulcers so I am just letting them think it is due to that. I am very much an introvert and do not tell my business to others. I completely understand your feelings.

I’m very private too. I did not tell my boss anything other than I needed to take time off for surgery. He said fine and he did not ask me what kind of surgery I was having as that goes against company policy. I did not share any details with any of my colleagues either. Months before surgery I had started to adopt many of the post-WLS habits and started to lose weight, so no one commented on my smaller portions, drinking only water (and not with meals), et al, once I returned to the office. Thankfully, these behaviors and subsequent weight loss were not correlated to my surgery, which was a relief.
