Pre-op diet — am I missing something?

Hi

I’m on day 2 of this liquid diet and I have 3 weeks to go! My surgery date is May 28th. I already had a break down and I have been so moody. I’m just confused because from all the forums that I have read, people are allowed to eat yogurt, sugar free popsicles and jello and some even get to have some time of “real meal”. I’m only allowed 2 cups of broccoli, green pepper, celery, lettuce or cucumber and that’s all for the day (plus my 4 optifast shakes) I have two young boys and I can barely keep up with them with this lack of energy.

any suggestions? I’m not allowed broths because the nurse said sodium would hinder weight loss but I feel like I’m not allowed to eat anything. Anyone on the same diet as me? Help?

Thanks for reading my vent :)

Your diet sounds like a bear. I wish I could say something really encouraging here....but the pre-op diet was hell on Earth for me. Way worse than the actual surgery or recovery for me.

Experiences differ...but yeah...sounds like you're up against a very strict, very long version. Your doctor sounds Sadistic.

If you cheat (don't cheat!)....but if you do....DO NOT eat carbs. The whole point of the diet is to shrink your liver by being very carb restricted. If you cheat, cheat with protein or non starchy veggies.

Best idea... don't cheat. Take it a day at a time. And hang in there!

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your advice. I feel so overwhelmed and was certain I was missing some pages on my list of what I can eat! Lol sadly not...
