Interstitial Cystitis and GBP

I have been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis for about 8 months now. I have been overweight all my life and I wonder if these things are related in any way? In your experience has anyone who had GBP also noticed a decrease or increase of symptoms?

    I'm still preop but have suffered IS in the past and it was excruciating but I do notice that weight loss has helped reduce the frequency of attacks to almost zero.
