Coming down with cold, oh no!

Wednesday is my surgery day. I am on the pre-op diet and I feel like I am coming down with a cold. Has anyone had the surgery while sick? I couldn't bear postponing the surgery. What should I do?

Call your surgeon and let them know.

I would let them know, but you'll probably be cleared. Congrats!

Unfortunately there are very real medical reasons they won't operate on you while you're sick. Could you lie and just not tell them you're sick? Probably. But I would highly recommend doing this by the book and keeping your medical team informed about this, and they can decide what to do about it and where to go from here. It would be better to postpone your surgery a couple weeks (or maybe even less) than to risk your health by going under and trying to recover from a major surgery while your immune system is trying to fight something else. Best of luck to you! Sleep, drink fluids, and take good care of yourself. :)

I was! I got a cold or sinus two days before ( over the weekend ) I called the surgeon Monday am and they told me he and anesthesiologist would review morning of surgery. My white blood cells were a little elevated morning of surgery and I panicked . surgery was Tuesday . Dr reviewed and decided to go ahead , I was so thankful. Honestly the cold was the worst part of recovery. Just annoying
