Anthem Blue cross Blue Shield

Out of Missouri. My insurance says it won't pay one cent towards weight loss surgery for anyone. Is this normal? I understand not having the entire thing covered but not a penny?

Has anyone else ran into this?

Weight loss surgery is exempt from many insurance plans. It depends on your employer, many choose to leave it off.

I have anthem blue cross out of California and my ployer excluded weight loss surgery from my plan. Its all up to your employer if its covered. Have to self paying for my surgery.

I have anthem blue cross blue shield in CA. It is the company that manages medi-cal in my area. It covered my surgery, but i did have to jump thru some hoops including fighting two denials.

Hi! So even if your employer doesn't cover bariatric procedures, can you still fight the denial? I did all visits through my primary Anthem but I have no bariatric benefits. I do have Aetna HMO Medicaid that will but I am just curious.
