My bypass is tomorrow. I am nervous just cause it's surgery and this is the first time I'll be facing surgery without my Mom. I;m 57 and being a big baby!!

But I am also worried that it might have to be an open operation vs laproscopic. Surgeon of course says not to worry. But they said that when I got my tubes tied, when I had my gallbladder out and when I had a hyster. All said it would be laproscopic and it wasn't.

Anyone had open surgery? Is it awful??

I had open surgery and laparoscopic surgery for hernias. The open surgery was more painful and the recovery process was longer. The laparoscopic RNY surgery I underwent was relatively painless. After I left the recovery room, I refused all pain medicine.
