Aetna covers weight loss surgery. They approved me. Its his job that dosent offer it. And I dont know if there is anything he can do about that.

Yes it is his job.... His primary claims she can help with approvals but I don't want him to get discourage with a ton of denial letters from Aetna. Thanks for answering me:-)

No, if it's not in the policy then you can't fight it. Many employers opt for coverage that does not cover things like fertility treatments or weight loss surgery in order to save money.

What about Mexico?

I think its a longshot. Maybe if he can prove that it is medically necessary. Read his jobs policys. See if he can find some sort of loop hole. Good luck tho homie.

Is that why some people are going to Mexico? Is it safe? How much? Is there a site I can visit? Thanks guys

Come check out the mexico section on this forum.. it's near the bottom. You'll be able to read a lot of first hand accounts and learn everything you ever wanted to know about getting VSG in Mexico.

Im going to Mexico in March for the same reason, my company had the bariatric removed from the already ridiculous policy so Mexico is my alternative... So many have had great success going to Mexico... I am using ready4achange.com and they have been great so far and have a great reputation... Good luck

My policy excluded it, too. There was no fighting it, and I wasn't going to change jobs. I ended up self-paying here in the states.
